What Would YOU Do with A Monorail Car?

We would probably just use it for selfish reasons and pretend. Maybe have a film outside pretending we're there.
My husband thought of when we first went to the DVC place in a mall near us (which is no longer there). We walked into a Bay Lake Tower room replica in the mall. It was such a time warp, Stat Trek experience, he asked if he could stand on the balcony.
This monorail piece would be just that. An escape route to the real World for us.
And a lot of wine to help the trip. Cabernet...lots of Cabernet...

If I had 160k to spend on a monorail car . . . I’d build a fake "hole" in my den wall and make it look like it was crashing through my wall. In the cab part I’d have it all wired up to control the spiel/doors/lights/whatnot. In the seating area I’d take out all the seats (if they were still in there) and have some couches installed to match the original colors and probably some low tables to make it a little sitting room.

The guy who put the monorail up for auction, actually bought it last May for $40,000, from a store in Orlando that specializes in Disney Memorabilia. He said that if He doesn't get a buyer than He is going to move it cross country on a flatbed truck to California, where He lives. This was in an article in today's Orlando Sentinel. So if He gets anything close to $160,000, than I'd say it's a pretty good return on His investment.

Good find @Dgeek!

Hopefully someone more responsible bought it. That is a huge piece of WDW history and needs to be preserved.

For those who couldn't afford the last one, another Mark IV monorail is now up on eBay at a much more reasonable starting price. Sadly it had been left to rot in the Las Vegas desert for the past few years and requires major restoration.

I'd be interested if I had a place to store it. The Vegas monorails were former Lime and Coral so I'd have a 50/50 chance of owning my namesake. :D

Probably turn it into a Pole Dancing Club. A little cramped? Maybe, but then again all the customers would get a decent view

I'd totally turn it into a bus. Imagine how cool it would be to take like a youth group to Disney World in that thing and the parking employees are like "Wait a minute.. o.o"
