What Will Come to Walt Disney World Next?

I think DHS is next in line. From my understanding, a Carsland spin off is in the works. That'd be nice, but really, I wish they'd do something different because I think it would be somewhat boring to copy and paste the same things in both parks. I know they have attractions in both parks now that are the same/similar. But, with an expansion as big as this would be, I would prefer to it to not be an exact replica of what is already out there. At this point though, I'll take any upgrade to DHS!

I have a hard time seeing World showcase adding rides. The problem is Disney has been going crazy on adding food places. The fact is TDO sees world Showcase as a place to make money in terms of food and shopping.

The only new thing that isn't food or bathroom related going to Epcot isn't for World Showcase. A new soarin' attraction is being planned to replace the current one, but that is expected to happen in 2015 or 2016.

All that I know is that in the early 2000's, disney tried to make a mount fugi ride in conjunction with sylvania. Though, sylvania, the sponsor did not like the name fugi, because it was the name of one of their largest competitors. This does not mean that they are still trying to put them in ws, but it shows that there was thought twords it. But over the years the ws has developed to be a dinning and entertaining area!

Moving on to another topic, a 5th gate. Quite honestly I don't see the need for one but if any one objects to that statement I'm willing to hear your concept!!

There's a nice little edit button on the bottom of your original post:)

I would love to have one; just not sure it's coming any time soon. Plus I think the existing parks, such as DHS and AK especially, could use expansions before we open a fifth gate. Eventually, though. Eventually.

I've heard a lot about disney sea park, but I don't think that will happen. A. Disney doesn't really want to compete with sea world and b. disney has used concepts that would go in that park already. Ex. Finding nemo and little mermaid.

Maybe a Star Wars themed land with the millennium falcon as the icon!!!!!! Or maybe George Lucas park with part Indy and most of it Star Wars!!!!!

You meant Mount Fuji. I know Disney wanted a Mount Fuji attraction back in the 1980's and the 1990's. I remembered Mount Fuji being mentioned in a WDW 20th anniversary special called Walt Disney World: Past, Present, and Future back in 1991. That Special also mentioned a Russian Pavilion. The reason it didn't happen was the fact Kodiak was a sponsor of Disney attractions including the imagination Pavilion.

I always love Epcot and World showcase since my first trip ever to WDW in 1991, but the direction of World showcase has changed in the last 4 to 5 years based on my viewpoint in terms of what Disney has be doing to it due to management changes. The fact is World Showcase has opened new food places to shop, Counter Service Restaurants, and Table service places since 2009 or 2010. I understand the bakery expansion for France, but there are people like myself on the message boards thing Disney getting carried away with the additions of food places.

World Showcase never had a shortage of food places even back in 1991 when I was entering my teenage years.

The other thing you have to look at who was in charge of TDO from 2006 to earlier this year and there was a change a WDW. That meant what you said about the early 2000's was a different TDO and Disney at the time. Remember Iger became in charge of Disney in 2006 and Meg became in charge of TDO in 2006 also.

Under Meg Crofton, WDW suffered in some areas. The only reason FLE happened to TDO didn't have a say in it. TDO was very tight in spending money for attractions, but had an easier time to spend money DVC, and adding food places than adding attraction. The only reason Test Track change happened was the sponsor was paying for the change of the attraction. Some of the attractions that opened with Mega in charge of TDO actually got their start and approval before got she the position.

From what I understand it seems like Star Wars at DHS or Pandora at AK will be the next "big thing". I wasn't a huge fan of Avatar so unless the next two movies in the supposed trilogy are amazing I really hope it's Star Wars.

My sister showed me yesterday that they will be building a Cars Land (YES) and Star Wars Land (YES) in Hollywood Studios. it said "it is expected to open by 2018".
..so we have to wait five years for that.
then Avatar Land in AK (YESYESYES) is starting this year (construction, I mean) and "is expected to be completed in 2016-18"
again, probably 5 years. or hopefully 3.

On a side note, I see they're expanding The Simpsons in Universal. I think a piece of it is open, with some restaurants. Like Moe's, Krusty Burger, etc. Plus the other part of the Wizarding World is supposed to be open by next summer. (WHOOP WHOOP)

I can't wait for the new stuff to be added to both places! :p

Sounds like most agree that AK and DHS need something before MK or Epcot (which I agree with as well). I just hope the lines aren’t blurred too much when it comes to park themes.

IMO, AK should really focus on real animals, wild life, etc…, while DHS should really be about movies. With that said, Avatar might be more appropriate in DHS than AK. A Cars, Star Wars, and\or OZ related expansion in DHS would also be great to see.

A dolphin or other “sea” related expansion\attraction at AK would be great in my opinion. I could be wrong though.

I wish they'd do a DHS overhaul and add that so-called "Avatarland" to AK soon and build it at the same time! EPCOT just needs something too. I waited in line for the new TT an hour, and it broke down. Had to leave the queue. No FPs given out! Told to go to guest relations!

Blink, blink. Breathe, breathe. Day in, day out.
I hope a Pixar land expansion in HS.. with maybe Laugh Floor moving to that location as it fits better in that park.

Either that or I'm waiting for Disney to hopefully shut the MARVEL area in Universal Studios down and bring their own version of it to Hollywood Studios..

I also think they should expand Adventureland, and make PotC more impressive like the one in Disneyland.
