In a better version of our current world, there would be more comprehensive police presence and effectiveness to rid that neighborhood of the illegal drugs and sex trafficking (often run by street gangs) that are truly the core problem. If you eliminate that core problem, a lot of the other crimes also disappear from the Crimemapping.com map (counterfeiting, assault, larceny, graffiti, weapons charges, etc.)

That way, the honest folks living in those apartments would get a dramatic improvement in their safety and security.

The sad reality is the average poor person is the real victim of “good intentions” to help the poor. Fewer police, no bail, legalized drug use, decriminalized theft, allowing homeless camping… they all keep shady people in the poor neighborhoods, often terrorizing the good people just trying to make a living and put food on the table, and with fewer and fewer places to shop as crime ravaged stores close around them

I can’t imagine living in many of these neighborhoods, afraid to even leave your own house/apartment has to be a horrible way to live.

Agreed to all of that. "The road to hell is paved with good intentions" never seemed a more apt description.

And this new Toy Story redevelopment would put Disney themed development right over the wall from one of OC's most dangerous and crime infested neighborhoods.

I looked at that concept art above, and warning sirens immediately started going off in my brain. 🚨🚨🚨

And then of course, I moved the Crimemapping.com map over to my old OC stomping grounds, 6 miles due east of So-Kat where Katella Avenue becomes Villa Park Road before it changes again to Santiago Canyon Road up the hill. Not a single reported crime there in the recent past, even though there are hundreds of homes and thousands of people living in this map area a few miles east of So-Kat.
