What was the reason for covering the queue on Space Mountain under the TTA?

I know it was done a good while back but what was the purpose? Used to be great looking up at the 'rockets' zipping around from the queue and also looking down at the boarding from the TTA. Now there's neither but there must have been a reason to make this change?

PR said the dome was too light. Seemed to work fine for 34 years.

So they took one of the great story telling items, built at great expense, out of the mix. And now they can't even maintain the effects added in 2009.

But we did get video games in the queue. Whoot. With luck this will be the last half a@@ed refurb the park gets.

Morning mate. Such a shame as I used to love looking up in anticipation whilst in the loading area and also you could gauge the queue better from the TTA (always be the Wedway people mover to me) when passing over.

I'll always remember my first ride on Space Mountain - in the final leg of the queue, looking up at the glowing tape on the rockets whizzing by, thinking how high they were, fully believing they were up in space . . . shame that's gone. It really built up anticipation for the ride, and I don't recall it ever really intruding on the coaster experience.
