What was Spaceship Earth like in 1989?

My parents and I went to EPCOT in 1989. I have very few memories and those are very vague.
The only thing that I remember was that I liked SSE and rode it twice. It was the only thing that I rode twice in the whole park. I don't remember what I saw at all. I think I remember a dark room with stars.

Is it basically the same story with the same Audio Animatronics now?

Besides the narration and the ending, is there anything else drastically different compared to the current version?

I skipped ahead on O Canada to the theme song (which is one of my absolute favorite parts of Epcot) and now plan to head over to France and then the American Adventure. Probably shed a tear or two during the Golden Dreams segment - I always do.
