What transportation service have you used?

Hi All!!! We have always used Mears Shuttle as our carrier from the Airport to our hotel. The last 2 times we used Mears was disastrous. Last Christmas, we waited almost 45 minutes for our shuttle. After boarding, the shuttle then stopped at each Mears stop in the airport before we started towards WDW. I'm guessing something was wrong with the buses engine because the driver drove so slow, other Mears buses were passing us by. Just got back from a quickie October trip and we took Mears again. We had a late flight, got to airport about 10:00 PM. Went to Mears stop. Took another 45 minutes before we boarded. Other people who arrived after us were leaving before us. Finally our van arrived. Because it was so late at night, we made great time getting to WDW property. There were 3 groups on the van. First group was staying at Marriott. We were at Coronado Springs and 3rd family at All Sports. Once on property, we drove directly to Magic Kingdom, not sure why. Then driver started back towards Coronado. My brother was sitting up front and saw driver pull out map. He asked if he could help direct her. Told her to make left turn just in time before she started loop back toward Magic Kingdom. Finally arrived at Coronado Springs after almost circling WDW property for an hour. We don't know if she ever found the All Sports. I'm not slamming the driver, she tried her best. It's Mears not training their drivers better that is wrong. Sorry this got so long! My question is: What limousine service have you used and would you use them again? We are researching companies for our Christmas trip.

Yeah, from the responses and reviews I've heard on "Yourride" I would defintiely give them a try. You can get personal service (like your own town car) for not much more than the mears shuttle. This means DIRECT service for you, the VIP!:)

Whereas, with the shuttle, you could end up making 5 or 6 stops before you get where you're going.;)

I can't say a whole lot about Mears shuttle, because I don't know a lot about that specific branch of the Mears operation, but I can say that our taxi services can be pretty decent. At the airport, there's a huge line of cabs waiting in queue to pick up passengers, so they are prompt & obviously, you don't share that ride with anyone else. There are some drivers that are atrocious, no doubt, but if you're lucky enough to find a good one & you're comfortable with their service, knowledge & courtesy, ask them for their name/driver # & even a cell # as most of us have that. You can then directly contact this driver anytime you need cab service & you don't have to worry about ending up with a moron or a rude driver. I pick up only from Disney property, never the airport, otherwise, I'd be offering you my info because I do like to think I'm a little more sociable, safe & friendly than many of the Mears drivers. But...if you need escorting from the Disney complex, let me know! :) I also begin working at MK soon, so I should be full of useful tourist tips between all of this! LOL

YOURRIDE is the ONLY transportation company that I will use for my customers. (If they are not using a rental car)

YOURRIDE was our service in September and we plan to use them again in June. They are there just for your party, so there's no need to be concerned about picking up/dropping off others. If you give them a try, I believe you'll be pleased!

Thanks all for your replies. We made our reservation with yourride on Saturday. We have rented a car in the past for longer trips and that worked fine. We did run into a hassle with National when returning the car so we stay away from them. As far as taxi service, we usually have a group of 6 or more so that can be harded to accomodate in a cab. It's a shame about Mears recent service. We were big advocates of them until the last 2 trips.

Elaine,
If you go to their site, you can email them with any question you might have. They'll email you back with the info you need. In fact, someone might even call you at home to discuss with you personally what you need. Rabbit called me at home when I had questions.

I've done Tiffany Towncar for both trips that I've made to WDW... and loved the service both times. But then it was also just me and the wife... don't know what happens when it's a larger group of people :)

Transportation services

My family and I use Tiffany Towncar and have always enjoyed their service. However, I think I'll give Yourride a shot for our trip in mid January based on the reviews and comments on this site.

I wouldn't recommend Mears to even my worst enemy!

Yourride

I have booked my transportation with Yourride in January. I still am not understanding if the charge is per person or for a car full. Can someone please answer. I am recommending them to my niece before I even use them and want to be sure to tell her the right thing. There are 4 of them. Is it still $85 round trip to the All Star Resorts?

I posted the original question way back when and now we are back from WDW. Yourride was great. Our driver was Mike and he was waiting at the escalator for us at baggage claim. He told us which carousel our luggage would be arriving at and even which was the better side to wait for the luggage. After we claimed everything, we followed Mike to where he had a wait no more than 5 minutes until he arrived with a van. There were six of us and it only cost $80 round trip. We arrived on 12/26 and the van was decorated for Christmas with a mini lighted tree in the front and Christmas lights hanging around the top. We didn't need a grocery store stop, but it was nice to know we could have used one if necessary. When it was time to return to the airport on 12/31, Mike arrived 15 minutes earlier than scheduled to pick us up. We are always early so that was pleasant that he was there then. We will use Yourride again. Mike was great and the service we received was great as well. Thanks again to everyone who suggested them. I wrote to Yourride as soon as we returned to give them our thanks.
