What Toy Story Playland means...

Hi all, I know the specifics here don't necessarily deal with WDW, but I'm wondering if the kind of thing we're seeing here is becoming a template for things to come. It seems that parks all around the world are bringing whole sections or "lands" of this silly carnival style mess. Whether it's the Bug Land at DCA, this atrocity (my opinion) at DLP or C&HDR at DAK, I'm becoming restless of seeing Disney "expand" their parks simply by adding crappy carnival rides with fiberglass characters attached that serve as little more than crowd diversions. Am I overracting or does this bother anyone else?

OMG that Slinky Dog ride looks awesome! It looks like they've done a pretty good job theming it and making it fun for kids, so it doesn't really bother me on the levels that Dinoland USA bothers me. It's a different take on a proven franchise. I guess I would rather see an original idea at each Disney park than see every ride cloned from another. I love how all the Space Mountains are different from each other. I like how Indiana Jones has different representations from shows, to roller coasters, to the ride at Disneyland. So if Toy Story gets a playland instead of another Toy Story Mania, then kudos to the imagineers for having the creativity to extract more than one idea from a pretty broad series.

Ok, I can give you that... It just kind of looks like All Star Resort level theming meets ordinary county fair type rides... not Disney.

Yeah it kind of bothers me too. I will say that lands like Toy Story Land or A Bug's Land seem better than Chester and Hester's... at least TSL or ABL are actually themed environments, whereas Chester and Hester's is more just themed to a carnival.
