Well,
I think we have successfully convinced my DD to go on the Everest ride this trip. She is a RC chicken, but we enticed her by explaining the theam of the ride. We studied the Yeti, what it is and read some storys about it. We watched the FPV of the ride on YouTube multiple times and and is thrilled with evertyhing including the que - she is hooked and has promised to ride it!!!

So what's next? GF suggested we watch the FPV of Splash mountain. She (DD) had a horrible experience when she was 2 1/2 and vowed never to go on it again!! Well we watched and she was asking what's the story with the Brier Rabbit. Embarrasingly - I had no idea and I have been riding that thing forever. We looked it up...

We wound up watching Song of the South two times this weekend (again YouTube). What a fabulious movie!! I understand the racest concerns and why it was never released to home video but what a little jem I had missed my whole life! It was slow to start and my DD wasn't having any of it untill the Rabbit appeared - then she was hooked. Had to watch it again the next day since we missed the entire beginning due to DD fussing.

If you never saw it you should put it on your list!!! "How do you do!!!" Had the song in my head all weekend LOL.

Watching POV videos on Youtube a couple of months prior to our trip is a must do for us. (Dont feel bad about your DD being chicken.. my 24 yr old son is the same way LOL) We STILL watch POV videos of as many rides as possible. Ask your DD to plan a day, which rides, what shes looking forward to eating, where she would like to swim, etc., and search for each on Youtube. Of course, a month or so out, we start watching Disney movies each weekend, always ending a week out of our departure with Lion King. Its our way of saying, See Ya Real Soon!!

Don't force her on to anything she doesn't want. Take her to the ride let her see it and watch all the people getting off and see how much they like it and let her decide.
Aww, I would never do that to her. I just want her to be able to enjoy the ride - I know she will! She still decides, we get there and she doesn't want to do it that's fine. Last year we had FP to Everest and had to walk away. Kinda stinks as I really wanted to ride and it was just me and her. No way for me to leave her behind. This year my GF will be there, so we can do a swap if we need to!!

I've been watching a lot of YouTube videos from attractions lately. My trip is in 95 days now I believe. Also, I've been listening to area music from the parks on YouTube. Right now I'm listening to the Tomorrowland music as I type a paper for a class I have. I seem to have gotten side tracked. Darn! ;)

My girls- the ones who run screaming from HM every time they beg to ride it- love LOVE Splash. They talk about it daily and while they claim the drop is the reason they love it- I'd like to think it's our YouTube viewings of the storyline as well as our Disney's Uncle Remus Stories that helped ease them into it.
th

Mind you, my girls are also short and DD6 couldnt ride until she was 5 and DD4 wasn't tall enough until right around her 4th bday...so being slightly older when riding also helped. So maybe your DD being a bit older now will help too. The story books though could also help.

I was over 30 the first time I did Splash. Like many have said, that last drop is a lot scarier to look at than it is to actually experience.

Allison 1975 made a real neat 100 day countdown calendar to celebrate double digits. I am thinking of making one myself! We love watching the youtube videos!
