What to do to receive a PIN?

In 22+ years of going to WDW I have NEVER received a PIN for a discounted resort stay. As finances are worse than ever this year, are there any places/sites I can subscribe or look at on the Disney website that might "encourage" them to send me a PIN? We were AP holders for practically 20 years before we had to let ours expire. I really need a either a PIN or free dining offer to plan the next trip. I know Disney sends out PINs based on some criteria that I know they would never publish but any help would be appreciated!

It can't hurt to try the things mentioned but pins are marketing tools and only Disney marketing really knows why they are given out. They have a set of marketing criteria, basically who they think will respond to the pin and book a room, and send it out to that target group. You do have to be known to them so need to make sure you are in their database by doing things such as signing up for the website or giving them email at checkin etc.

Other than that its mostly just sitting back and hoping that you meet the marketing promotion criteria. Some years I get several and some years none. So sign up and good luck.

Here's the thing -- I don't think you really need a PIN code to get the discounts if you know how to work their system....Doing Bouncebacks while on property is one way and can get you 30-35% off (i.e. you book your next vacation from your resort hotel while on property)...annual passholders routinely get 30-35% off most of the resorts (sometimes more - though not at all resorts, example POFQ only gets you a 20% discount, while POR gets a 35% discount on the exact same dates)...and often, the easiest way to get the discount is just to ask -- call Reservations and ask what specials they have going on during the dates you are interested in -- sometimes they will even upgrade you from a Moderate to a Deluxe for just a couple hundred dollars more during off-peak times...In short, just call and ask. Don't look for discounts on the website.
