What to do on your first day at WDW if it's raining all day?

We're landing in Orlando in the morning on Oct. 28 and staying at the Dolphin. According to all the weather forecasts (accuweather.com & weather.com) it looks like it will be raining...all day. After that it looks great, but what do you do while waiting for room (if it's not ready) and the weather doesn't allow you to hop in the pool or explore the parks?

Thanks

Rain

Unless it's over a CAT1, just use a poncho and go. The rain will keep the couds down. One of the best fireworks shows was at EPCOT during a rain shower, most people had left.

I agree! Get that poncho going and get out there! People are always complaining about crowds, and some of the shortest lines I've waited on for the best stuff is during rain. It usually isn't bad enough to make the day unenjoyable.

I also recommend a hat, it keeps the rain from sliding onto your face from the top of the poncho :D Just a pet peeve of mine....

One year when we went it rained all day everyday the whole week. DON'T LET IT STOP YOU!!! The sale ponchocs in every shop (one of the few things that aren't over priced). There is no reason not to go to the park on a rainy day.

We don't let the rain stop us!
If you don't have a park day planned for your first day, go to DDT. Always places to get out of a real downpour, and great for strolling between the raindrops!

I can't tell you how many times this has happened to us! That's why I save those nifty Disney ponchos from trip to trip - we just throw them on and hit the parks. Unless it's truly a monsoon, it doesn't make too much difference to us.

Surprisingly, in the almost 80 trips i have went on, it has never rained the first day, not even a ten minute florida shower. If it did rain, i would still go to MK and it wouldn't change my plans much outside of parade and fireworks.

When I went in August 2002, it not only rained everyday, but it poured making a little river outside our room where ducks were swimming by which was pretty funny. But yeah, it poured every single day but we were able to get stuff done still.

I would go to MGM personally, it is I believe the smallest of the 4 main parks and so you will get less of a soaking walking around what are nearly all indoor attractions. A poncho is a must and footwear that will dry easily.
