Hello! Staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge this weekend. What time would you leave to go to Magic Kingdom on the buses on a Saturday in July? The park opens at 8:30 to resort guests. Thanks for any advice!

The official time for buses to run is 45 min before parks open, but they can show up earlier, like an hour or more before. A lot of guests want to rope drop so getting to the parks early may build those lines at the bus stop. Sometimes weve left the resort with a mostly empty bus and other times quite full so its difficult to say exactly how many bus seats will be available. I'm an early bird so I always show up early and am one of the firsts to get on board.

If you’re serious about being near the front for early entry then I agree with @Stellajack . Get to the bus stop soon after 7am.

The rule of thumb is to allow 1 hour for Disney bus transportation to get you anywhere. If you want to be at a park for an 8:30 rope drop you will wantto be there no later than 8:00.

Update?
We left a little after 7:30am for the bus. When we got to MK, they were already letting people into the hub. We didn't realize early morning entry only applies to Fantasyland and Tomorrowland so were kind of hanging around Adventureland until they finally announced it wasn't included so we went over to the Tomorrowland rope drop. We went directly to Space Mountain and waited prob 15 min then walked onto Space Ranger Spin and PeopleMover. Thanks for everyone's input!

Ah, yeah. Sorry you didn't know that Adventureland opens a little later. Still, it sounds like you did just fine. Hope you had a fun weekend!
For future visits, sometimes you can make rope drop in Tomorrowland, then hightail it to Adventureland when it opens. (or at least until Disney changes policies again.)
