Trip Report What time is it? MICKEY TIME. August 2014

Is it entirely possible to have two extremely amazing Disney trips in a row? One would think the first trip’s fun and happiness could not be duplicated again…

Unfortunately, I am home. Real home. Not my Disney World bubble. Getting over this harsh reality is like a kick straight to the stomach, after eating a really gigantic meal. What is this life I live? Why am I not waking up on property? Oh the harsh truths we must face when exiting that bubble! Writing a trip report will help cure my Disney depression, it’s a statement I keep uttering to myself while I slowly grip the fact that my trip is OVER. WHAT?! Months of planning and excitement and poof! DONE. GONE. Is it time to go back yet? PLEASE?! Peeling the magicband off my wrist was painful.. PAINFUL I TELL YOU!!

imagejpg7_zps1262d39b.jpg

My name’s Nicole and I am a Disney freak. (I’m the girl on the left.) If there ever is a rehab program for people who are overly obsessed with Disney, you can bet some of my friends, my boyfriend, and my family would check me right in. I love the little mermaid, and change my favorite park depending on the day. I don’t know what my favorite ride is, some days it’s Soarin’, some days it’s Splash, sometimes it’s even Tower of Terror. Whatever is the last ride I’ve been on, that’s the one I will probably tell you. Ugh, I’m indecisive!

For those who didn’t follow along on my pre-trip report, here’s a quick recap. I flew to Disney World August 17th, and stayed at the Wilderness Lodge until August 21st. The lovely people of WDWmagic convinced us to upgrade from Art of Animation since we had a pin code. From there it was off to Port Canaveral, for my first ever Disney cruise, let alone cruise. Had three nights on the Disney Dream, and then back to Orlando for a day at Downtown Disney. I came home late August 24th, which gave me 8 full days immersed in Disney. This trip was the second trip with my best friend; we went last July for 10 days and had a wonderful, unforgettable time. We knew Disney missed us. :)

Originally, we were supposed to go in June and stay at Art of Animation, then go on the Dream, but due to massive amounts of snowstorms in lovely New Jersey this past winter, we had to postpone to August. Now everyone was warning me about the heat, and let me just tell you all, YOU WERE RIGHT. It may have been the hottest, sweatiest (sorry!) trip of my life, but it was one that I will never forget.

Shall I begin?

It all started not too long ago, at the wee hours in the morning.

IMG_1685_zpsa8effceb.jpg

I slept at my friend’s house so her parents could take us to the airport for our flight at 5:59 in the morning. We would be in Disney at 8:30 A.M. Who needs sleep?

Made it though security fairly quickly, and decided it was perfectly acceptable to eat our first meal of the day at 4:30 A.M.

First food picture of the trip! LOL.. and it’s in bags.. Big fail, Nicole.

IMG_1688_zps99d8f598.jpg

Probably not a good idea to drink iced coffee when you are aiming to sleep on the flight down, but with all that excitement I guess it didn’t matter! Do you guys remember the commercial with the little boy who says, “I’m too excited to sleep!” Yep, that’s me in a nutshell on Disney eve.

We took so long eating, we didn’t realize our plane had already boarded and as we were walking to the gate, we heard them announce the final boarding call. We booked it! Could you imagine if we missed our flight? Oh the horror! I don’t know why we didn’t realize that you’d need to be on the plane prior to 5:59 in order for it to take off. Hey, it was early. I’m using that excuse :)

IMG_1691_zps52acb54c.jpg

IMG_1692_zps857b0b68.jpg

We made it on and were off! My friend slept for maybe 20 minutes, I didn’t sleep at all. Too much excitement! We read and chatted about what was yet to come.

We landed early (YESS!!!), and navigated our way like champs to the B side of the airport. Last year we got lost…this year we were pros. Haha.

IMG_1693_zpsfabcc90a.jpg

We scanned our matching pink magic bands at the magical express counter, saw that first mickey head light up green, and we’re off! It was time for our first Disney ride of the trip…a bus ride!

I'm caught up so far. I'm am LOVING all these pictures, and I can't wait for the cruise portion of your TR! I'm planning on semi-drinking around the world (more like drink at 1 or 2 countries, spaced out). The Torontopolitan and the Leprechaun drink look yummy!

I can't get over that view! And your coordinating outfits are so cute. I really like the idea of travelling around world showcase and taking pictures of the different hats.

Nooooooo don't leave me hanging! I've still an hour left at work! :p What else am I supposed to do, actually work?! ;) :D

I looooooove drinking in world showcase!! I've never managed every single country in one day though- if you do I salute you!! Definitely a fun thing to do if you're there without kids! Only the morning so far and it already looks like you're both having an amazing time! Really made the most of the parks it seems. Can't wait to read more and then... the cruise! I'd forgotten that already and that's the bit I'm most interested in reading about- you distracted me with your awesome reports of the parks ha ha! Keep going with the positive reporting, it's great- I feel like I'm there! :)

I will try to maintain my positivity! While I was happy as a clam in Disney, real life I have been a grump! I cannot believe my trip is over! Trip reporting is the only thing getting me through :( The cruise was the best part.. I shall get there soon I promise!! :)

Love this trip report! I read the last one, and was so excited to see another. This makes me want to plan a trip with my just my bestie... she has never been and I would LOVE to show her the ways of WDW! I completely and totally feel you on how much it sucks coming back from a Disney trip. I was on this forum every day for a year, then after my trip I couldn't even get on here because I was so bummed about not being in WDW everyday! It is like being in a bubble that I just never want to pop, no work no cares just pure happiness the whole time! 6 months later I am feeling ok getting back in and obsessing over peoples trips and the parks! Even though my next trip wont be for another 2 years :(

I agree about having to step away from the forums at times! I get so upset when I see new things coming that I may not get a chance to see or get on right away, I was so sad when mine train opened and I wasn't there to be first to ride! Thanks for following along, and two years is really no soooo bad in the scope of everything! :)

They were really good! Kind of strong, which I didn't expect! Disney doesn't water down their drinks. :) Thanks for reading!!

I can't get over that view! And your coordinating outfits are so cute. I really like the idea of travelling around world showcase and taking pictures of the different hats.

The view, as you can see, I couldn't get over either! Thanks for your super sweet comments, you made me :)

I did eventually pry myself from the lovely bench in France, only to go wait in life to meet my bestie's favorite princess! We took some photos in the shade; shade was a hot commodity that week! :)

IMG_2284_zps2af5f0ce.jpg

I stood this one out, so my friend could have her time to chat! She loves Aurora, and hates the fact that she doesn't get much love in Disney World. I wonder if little girls even watch Sleeping Beauty now a days? I think she may have had a little bit of a revival with Maleficent, but I still think she needs more love! She wears such a pretty dress!

Two old chums just posing for the camera!

IMG_2290_zps73b1d0ff.jpg

We couldn't pass up our favorite place in France. So into Glaces we went!

IMG_2291_zps4f400654.jpg

I was feeling very picture happy, so thrown in are some shots that I thought looked totally amazing at the time. Mind you, France is the third country in!

IMG_2292_zps7f147033.jpg

IMG_2293_zps455fbfdc.jpg

We got an ice-cream martini.. that's two drinks for France! We picked coffee and sea salted caramel with a shot of whipped cream vodka to top it all off. YUM. It was extremely strong, but it was soooooooooooooo good! The ice cream melted rather quickly, which masked the vodka taste and made it just taste like absolute heaven. Glaces is one of my favorites in Epcot.. I want to get every flavor when I walk through the doors.

IMG_2299_zpsdc4c6509.jpg

We finished our second French drink, and decided we must check out the stores! And try on hats of course! Here we are wearing berets, I don't think I did this quite right. :)

IMG_2300_zps523cfd2c.jpg

We look like artists haha

IMG_2301_zps0cc3fa5d.jpg

We stumbled upon a cave full of wine! What!! Can I have this at my house? We didn't get anything here, we had willpower!

IMG_2302_zpsa27486eb.jpg

We watched Impressions de France, a first for me! It was a cute video, and it was air-conditioned! I think this put some pep back into our step!

Then it was time to get some more photo pass photos! I love these next pictures, this view is just spectacular. :)

IMG_2305_zps028d1312.jpg

Such twins we are. I'm on the left in case you can't tell us apart.

IMG_2306_zpsd30a2c12.jpg

And on to the next one, Morocco!

I work with a woman who is originally from Morocco, and she always tells me how gorgeous it is there. She makes me cous cous and insists I visit her country one day. I snapped a lot of pictures on my cell phone to send to her. She was impressed with Disney's details. :)

IMG_2307_zpsf7353015.jpg

We ordered Tangierine slush's and it was just meh.. I'm not a big tangierine fan, so I think that's why I wasn't that impressed. It was nice and cold however, which I loved!

5. Tangierine slush- Morocco

IMG_2309_zps1f3ff8b7.jpg

IMG_2310_zpsc4705dfd.jpg

We decided our bellies were finally digested from breakfast and it was time for some lunch! We ate at the Tangierine Cafe, I had the Shwarma chicken platter with a side of hummus, tabouleh, couscous salad and Moroccan bread. My friend had the same but with lamb as well. I am normally not an adventurous eater, but this food was really good. I wasn't sure if I would like it, but I loved it! It tasted so fresh, and was one of the meals I ate that I felt full but not so full that I was sick. I think this may have been the healthy meal we ate all trip. I would love to go back here again.

IMG_2312_zps008a7863.jpg

And can't forget the scrumptious dessert of baklava! I want to lick my screen right now. It tasted amazing. Like an angel brought it down from heaven and served it to me on a plate. I want Moroccan food right now, think it's too late to call up my co-worker? Haha!
IMG_2314_zps564ace71.jpg

And the adventure continues :)

Okay, maybe traveling the world in 100 degree heat is not such a good idea! Here we are taking a rest after a lovely Moroccan lunch.

IMG_2317_zpsd6e6c323.jpg

Hello Nicole in an alcohol induced coma.

IMG_2318_zps837ab5c5.jpg

We knew we didn't have much time to waste, so we took a few swigs of water, and were off! Crossed the pathway to do some shopping! And look, more hats!

IMG_2319_zpsf1142a81.jpg

We tried wishing for more days at Disney, oh genie, where are you!

IMG_2320_zps0b58e046.jpg

Aladdin and Jasmine walked right past us! Like, l brushed arms with them! Too bad I was too slow getting out my camera, and all I have is this creepy paparazzi style photo! Jasmine, come back!

IMG_2321_zpsa2ff60a6.jpg

Not one of these lamps had a genie inside... what the heck!?

IMG_2323_zpsf1008ced.jpg

Next on our world tour, was Japan! We listened to the drummers for a little while.. I love Epcot's entertainment. I recently read that a lot of things are changing, let's all hope it's for the better. I love the small, intimate shows and performers they have and really think it enhances the overall Epcot experience. Disney, are you listening?!

IMG_2324_zpsc543fa37.jpg

We wandered through the enormous Japan stores, it felt glorious to get indoors. We found a Sake bar in the back, and I am not a big fan of Sake at all but last year we had plum wine and figured anything was better than that. I tried the hana fugo sparkling sake and it was pretty good! Crisp and airy, it really was refreshing in the heat. Didn't think I would enjoy it, but I was pleasantly surprised!

IMG_2325_zps36ee8f82.jpg

Mmmmm.. a good choice!

6. Sake - Japan

IMG_2327_zps8969e182.jpg

Baby's got blue skies up ahead! :)

IMG_2328_zps60d4a7c1.jpg

Japan was a big fail with hats, all we could find were these pikachu ones! I used to watch Pokemon way back when, so I guess this sufficed! I loved Pokemon Snap, the game for Nintendo 64. Oh the good ole days!

IMG_2330_zpsb770bd6f.jpg

We were offered and amazing 360 photoshoot by the photopass photographer. These photographers really take the best pictures, and they try their hardest to capture amazing shots! This poor man was standing in the blaring sun, making sure everyone was having their happy memories captured. Kudos, cast member!

After getting our fill of Japan, it was time for the good U S of A! 'Merica! We salute you! :)

IMG_2335_zpsa297bfbc.jpg

Caught some singing just in time, they did the national anthem, and I still get emotional just recalling it. These are some seriously amazing singers, they make you feel your heart, no matter how shut away it might be. Everyone was standing, and applauding.. it was just an amazing thing to watch.

IMG_2338_zps502fad68.jpg

We watched the American Adventure, which I had never seen before. Go me! Checking more things off my Disney bucket list! It was definitley worth seeing. I love history, and really resonated with me.

After our 45 minute break in the AC, it was back outside to sample some American drinks. This is the only qualm I have with Epcot, America's drink choices stink! Sutter home or Sam Adams.. I want more options!

IMG_2340_zps6b86e518.jpg

7. Pinot Grigio- USA

IMG_2341_zps595ffb50.jpg

Again, I found myself on a bench. Sipping a drink, enjoying the sights, life was good.

IMG_2342_zps0a76dfda.jpg

And our next country was only a few paces away.. how convenient!

IMG_2343_zps7fdbd8eb.jpg

But for that moment I was content, to just sit and sip, and enjoy the present.

:)

Oh I feel you with the grumpiness in real life- life outside the bubble sucks! :( Thinking about going back and escaping through trip reports is how I try and stay positive!
Still enjoying reading along- and impressed with the amount of drinks so far! If you got through it all I hope you bought yourself one of those t-shirts with all the drinks from each country!! :D

What a fantastic adventure going through half of the world. You have some really good pictures of the two of you enjoying every thing in the different sections of the world including some delicious drinks. Keep them coming, this will help me choose drinks when I return to the world showcase. Following along.

And here is where the trip really begins- Drinking around the World!!

You know, I hate to bring it up again, but I remember a previous Trip Report of yours and I asked "what was a Leaping Leprechaun?" ...... and after your professional opinion.....now I'm addicted to them... LOL!

Great trip report - I'm headed down in like 14 days (who is counting) ...I will be following this drink report again... THANK YOU!

Following along!!

Finally caught up....back to work so I don't have as much time! So I'll answer a question from a few pages back: it's not strange to name all your children Ariel unless some of them are boys! I am thoroughly enjoying your trip report again & wishing I was oh so young again & could go with my bestie! Looking forward to reading more!

I'm so jealous you got to go to Disney with your best friend. I'm hoping next year I can get mine to go. I think a girls trip would be so much fun. I love drinking around the world with the fam but I think it would be a riot to do it with my bestie. Your report is awesome by the way and I can't wait to read more.

Loved your Festival of Fantasy Parades pics! We missed it this last trip because we were always too hot to wait around until 3pm…I'm hoping when we go in February we will be able to see it when its not so hot out. Its funny I completely forgot that I had a grey goose slushy until I read your TR but it was so good I don't know how I forgot about it! I think my Dad ordered it and he didn't like it so he gave it to me :) Gladly accepted. Now its on my radar to try it again.

We need time for things to happen.
Usually "more of the same" is a negative reference, however when used to describe your trip reports it just means more awesomeness. And awesomeness is awesome.

There are a few photographers around here who do trip reports, that have a great "eye" for capturing all the beautiful vistas around wdw with their pictures, however you have something a little more rare: An uncanny knack for capturing "fun" with a camera lens.

Im once again having an absolute blast reading along.

Loved naptime in morroco and smiled at the U2 reference.

Keep bringing the fun!

Aren't they just the tastiest thing? I could sit in the Rose and Crown all day! LOL :)

I really liked the grey goose slushie! The fact that it was so hot and this tasted like an alcoholic icee from the movies made it just taste soooo good! I would like another please :)
