I can't think of a thing I'd change in my machine if I could, but I'm curious to see if can outline your objections, Pick a machine, giving me a link to it, and I'll be better able to compare.

What you're effectively asking me to do is say that my idea of the perfect laptop should be everybody's. That's absurd. BUT.... to enlighten you to what I, and I only speak for myself (although there are many out there that agree.), believe to be superior to the Macbooks is the HP Envy Touchsmart. Then again, to me, anything other than an Apple product is good since I cannot see myself being one of the iStepford Users that flock to anything with an "i" in front of it as if it were the latest and greatest out there. I can tell you with absolute certainty that my PC laptop, Android tablet, and Android phone out strips my friends Apple products by leaps and bounds.

However, if you are one of the people that prefers Apple then so be it. I do not think less of a person for it. Just please do not try to tell me that my PC products are inferior to Apple on a grand scale. I know for a fact that in my house, and in my circle of friends at least, that my PC products works better, faster, and have more capability than Apple. If you prefer Apple then good for you.

Windows 8 PC, Microsoft Surface Tablet (currently using), or iPod touch for emergency use (while in the parks ). I'm a student, and the Surface works better for me than the iPad. I considered the iPad, but I need the Surface for editing MS office files when I don't have my laptop. That, and I have a program that converts DVDs to digital, and this one has more memory, plus expansion options for more memory. The iPad is nice though. My mom has one. I've borrowed it before. I don't understand Macs, they're out of what my parents and I are willing to pay for a computer, and sometimes people I know who have Macs at school have had trouble when getting files over to the school computers, which are PCs. I love my iPod. I'm probably upgrading to the 5th generation. But I don't love iTunes.
The 5th generation is really a nice upgrade to the 4. It is well worth the cost. When our phones wouldn't work in the parks for mde, the ipod always worked great. It takes really good pictures, and has a flash. Movies are crystal clear. We got the 32 so it holds tons of movies and pics. It's so thin and lightweight.

Well, no one has referred to Google/ Microsoft users by name. The nastiness is just coming from one poster in here, and one alone. I'm not one of those who would line up at an Apple store for any product, but I understand that kind of enthusiasm, I am a Disney fan, I have paid more for a holiday than I need to, to go to WDW. I have booked ADR's 180 days out, I have used a spreadsheet to map out a trip to a fine detail. GOOfyDad, I would think you would understand such enthusiasm, and not mock it

That's good to know. My digital camera, which is 6 years old, also needs replacing so I was thinking this would be a good replacement for the digital camera. I'm getting it next week online for Black Friday. Best buy is offering it for $250 (32 GB) so unless Amazon or Target suddenly comes up with a better deal, I'm getting it from Best Buy. Plus I have a $5 rewards certificate I can use. I've loved my iTouch and will be handing it down to my brother.

EDIT: I also have an Android, so I can check MDE on both the iPod and the Android. Back up is always good ;)

Would you consider Windows Phone in the future based on your experiences with the Surface?
Not unless they update their app store and put in more apps. I like the Surface because it is a good back up for a laptop as far as coming preloaded with MS Office. But their app store is terrible, and until they get more developers to put in apps, I would not do a Windows. Actually, the Smartphones for my plan were Android and Windows and even though the Android was more, their app store is definitely better. Apple
s app store is the best, but Google's Apps for Android store is a close second

Enthusiasm is one thing, and if that is all it is for you then wonderful. I wholeheartedly support your enthusiasm for Apple. However, I have seen too many people never even try an Android device and stick to the Apple brand out of blind obedience like sheep. I have personally seen too many people go out and stand in line to buy the latest iPhone/iPod/Macbook just because it is the newest version. There is no real difference in the new one and the one they have, but they just have to have it. If you love Apple then so be it. I don't hate Apple users. I hate people that stick with a brand because it is the "cool" or "hipster" thing to do. My dislike for Apple came back in the day when they were losing the PC war and decided to make their systems look "pretty" in lieu of real computing power. However, I kept an open mind about the following ideas and innovations from Apple. My problem isn't necessarily with the brand any longer. It has more to do with the "Well I have a Macbook. What do you have? Oh, a PC. How stupid." people.

And their are Disney fans who wait in line to wait in line to buy pins. Who refuse to look at anything but Disney and deride anything else. But that is not all Disney fans.

Part of the reason is there is not so much brand loyalty to other hardware companies is because software is such a large component. Android and Windows are not available just on hardware from Google and Microsoft. Always getting the newest Android phone would involve a far more frequent upgrade cycle, but there are people who use Androind that upgrade yearly. However, these people are spread across manufacturers and are able to switch between them as well so they do not become the singular group like those buying each year's new iPhone. That same difference of number of products to a lot of Apple's products and similar products.

And it is far too late to continue this obvious fruitless debate. You win. I'm an idiot. Apple is the best. Goodnight.

the oatmeal comic explained this behavior very well.

(there are even stories of chinese guys selling their kidneys just to get a ipad)

(to clarify, this isnt just an apple exclusive thing, but apple fans do it most... you could see this as well with the Playstation and Xbox consoles.. but they of course do not force you to update to keep the "cool" thing.)

Exactly, there are the group of Apple fanatics who go and buy every new product, but that's not all of them. There are a group that are just completely loyal to Apple and would never buy anything else. Me? I brand jump. I own the iPod Touch, and at this point, there's no other MP3 Player like it, and it's great quality, so I will buy another one. iPads are nice. Am I willing to shell out the cash for them. Nope.

Okay. That is one area that I can admit that Apple has Android beat on, for me. iPods. There really isn't anything out there that compares to this. That truly shocks me that Google has never bothered to jump into this market. Then again, my android phone does everything that an iPod can do, and more. Maybe that's why they never bothered with it. However, I remember waiting for an alternative for the iPod to come out, but one never did. :( One of my favorite lines from the Big Bang Theory is in a flashback to 2001 when Sheldon first met Howard and Raj. He told Raj that he'd be sorry for shelling out the money for the iPod when Microsoft comes out with theirs. LOL

Oh Sheldon:rolleyes:. I remember that episode, the one where they explain why the elevator is broken! I love that show.

I had alternative MP3 players. My dad was not going to shell out the money for an 8-year-old to have an iPod. I agree with him now. I had the Disney Mix Stick and later the Mix Max. They eventually both stopped working and I got the touch, though they lasted a good long time.

Google actually did jump into the market, Well android did. Samsung produced a failed Mp3 player and Cowan using android now on their mp3 players.

People on both sides of the party are blinded but even if you hate Mac you have to appreciate their contributions to personal computing that you use every day, one in particular is producing the first laptop including wireless internet access, which was announce in an amazing presentation. Just like Apple fans are appreciate of Windows mainly due to Bill Gates bailing out Apple in early 90s. I hated Apple for the longest time and would base the apple users and called then many names, then I got into a job where I hate to work with Apples and became a fan.

As for the original topic of this forum. I have a 15" Macbook Pro, a Custom build Windows 8 Gaming machine, An iPad, Iphone4s, and my little Raspberry Pi.
