We all know disney is different from all the other parks out there, but what are some of the little things that truly make it different.

For me its at other parks you see them carry trash throughout the park, at disney, you don't see that.

At disney, most rides queues are detailed and entertaining.

For me it's the attention to detail, the level of service, and the delight that CM's get by making a child (or adults) day. It seems most CM's work there because they truly love Disney. I find that moreso at DL than WDW though (not to say WDW CM's are rude, but you seem to find more retired/love their job people in DL)

The attention to detail......BUT, also the service from CM's. You just don't get that kind of attention and service at Six Flags or Cedar Fair parks.

Also, EVERYTHING at WDW is themed. You feel as if you've entered another world.......even down to the caurosel in Fantasyland. It's not like that anywhere else that I know of.

The one thing that makes a difference for me is that many of the height requirements are not 48 and 54 inches like other parks. (I know there are few that are.) My daughter is 6 and only 41 inches. There is nothing heartbreaking than to tell your adrenalin junkie daughter that she is too short to have fun! Plus mommy's tummy is not what it is used to be so we can do big kid rides together and have a blast and I don't feel like I am gonna yak!

Fireworks and Parades!

The first time we went to WDW was in October of 2000. The following spring we went to Six Flags over Texas. The differences were night & day. The people who worked there looked like they had slept in their clothes. :snore: They did not interact with you. There was trash on the ground everywhere you looked. It was just not a clean, fun feeling. At WDW, the CMs have fun with you, get into their character theme, and make your experience even more memorable. It is also the cleanest place I've ever seen! I saw someone throw down some trash, and there was a CM to pick it up almost before it hit the ground. I haven't been anywhere else because of this! Thanks Disney!!:sohappy:

Seeing the Mark VI outside the park. That is now back to the way it was since the Mark VII's are running in Calf.

The attractions! They are not all huge roller coasters and thrill rides. As I get older I have a hard time finding rides I actually enjoy at other parks.

I agree with the previous posts in that it seems to be mainly the quality of the CM's, the attention to detail, the themeing and the overall atmosphere they create. Disney is simply the best at what they do.

No offense to any Universal employees here but we always say Universal must hire the WDW rejects. The difference in attitude and professionalism is like night and day.

Exactly what everyone is saying, the CMs (they are the BEST!), theming - the music is perfectly fitted to the area it's played, the visuals are filled with details, and the queues are FANTASTIC. My family was at Six Flags at the end of July and we just couldn't stop comparing everything to Disney. WDW is in a league of its own. Nothing compares, which is why we are willing to shell out as much money as we do for the experience. It's an immersive experience, not just an amusement park.

We go for the full experience and escaping the real world for just a little while...

The Hub...

I was at Dollywood a few weeks ago and it took me forver to just walk the park because it branches out in all directions then you have to back track past everything you already saw to get to another area.

To me it is like everyone said, the CMs, the themeing and the stories.. But also, for me it is the cleanliness, and organization. While I was in Atlanta over the summer I went to Six Flags, and it was semi clean, but not as clean as Disney, and while waiting in line for the raft ride, I saw at least three poles covered with gum. (That is a difference with Disney, but that just might be because Disney doesn't sell gum.) Also, when at Six Flags I saw a lot of trash on the ground, and it was hard to find a trash can, so that might be another reason why it is cleanier.
The organization is just a minor reason, but when in line for a Disney attraction, they have little divders dividing the line, and the rows for the vehicles. And two years ago when I was at the defunct Geauga Lake, it was just a mad rush to the vehicle, no organization what so ever.

The Disney Company "gets it". They understand what family entertainment is all about. It's not about having a fancy hotel next door to an amusement park. It's about have a family-centered resort connected to a theme park by a monorail. Family comes first and that's something that the current staff gets drilled into their heads on a daily basis. Families come in different shapes and sizes, but it's the ability to have fun together that separates Disney parks from the others.

I've been to many other parks and live right down the street from Kings Island (now under Cedar Fair management). The differences are night and day. My family and I have season passes to KI, but still visit WDW every other year or so. It's a totally different experience.

Probably the biggest difference for us is that Disney may charge more for an admission ticket but they don't price gouge you after you're inside the gate.
KI:
No food or drink allowed to be brought in; not even a bottle of water.
"Carnival" games around every corner $5 to win a 50 cent stuffed animal.
Food and drink prices are outrageous.
Queue areas are rows of cattle gates in the blistering sun with little shade above and seldom any theming - it's all about the ride.

Disney:
Bring in what you want, as long as it's not dangerous.
Very few games with Carnies barking for more of your money.
Food and drink is very reasonable and decent portions.
Plenty of air conditioning and themed queues - gotta deliver the complete show.

Just some little things, there are many more differences that we're all aware of. That's why we continue to read these boards and continue to go to Disney parks!
