What Table Service restaurants you remembered going to on your first trip to WDW?

I can't remember all the Table Services I went to on my first trip because of it was in the early 1990's. I was entering my teenage years at the time.

I remembered going to Yachtsmen Steakhouse, Ariel's, Brown Derby, Yacht Club Galley (now known as Captain's Grille). If Ariel's was still open today, that place would be a 2 credit table service. Ariel was an expensive seafood place that had great food.

I think there was more table service restaurants I went to, but I can't remember. I am saying that because my Mom won a free trip to WDW the first I time went. It included included 3 table service meals a day for 5 days and 4 nights, free airfare, free transportation, free park admission, free stay at Yacht and Beach Club.

I compared the amount of food in a day free to a Deluxe Dining plan. The free food included drinks, appetizers, main entrees, and desserts. I remembered there being more than I was accustomed to and is the reason I don't do a Deluxe Dining plan.

One of my best memories from my very 1st trip to WDW was dinner at the Liberty Tree Tavern, back when it was still a character dinner. They may still have pretty much the same menu now as they did back then, but it will never be quite the same. I miss Minnie in her beautiful blue colonial dress, Goofy in his top hat and vest, and Chip and Dale with their funny wigs!

I know that if we went to a TS restaurant in 1972 that it wasn't on-property...it was hard enough to get my dad to buy one E-ticket for each of us...I think the booklets were about $5.00 and up...maybe to $8.00 for more E-tickets but he was going to buy it...

The first TS that we went to was in 1990 with our DS (3-years old); it was in the Contemporary and it is now called Chef Mickey's but I think it had a different name then. There were 5 families in the whole restaurant (September) and 5 characters. All the families had one-on-one time with each character. Goofy and Pluto even sat down to encourage our DS to eat but he was 'shocked' that all his characters were real. We even met Prince John and learned what to say to get him to 'suck his thumb'. It was awesome to have the characters to ourselves.

Our first trip to WDW was about the same time frame as yours, I remember a character breafast where the Contempo cafe is now, but I can't remember the name, I had to tell Tigger to beat it as he was bothering my DW. I remember the Italian restaurant before Tutto Italia, but I can't remember the name. The best dinner we had was at Bistro du Paris the server was great to us. I also remember a dinner buffet on the grand canyon concourse my DW says I'm crazy and that she doesn't remember any such thing and again I can't remember the name, boy It's tough getting old.

My first trip to Disney World (had been to DL as a kid) was in 1992 with my then, 3 yr old son. Empress Lilly (now Fulton's) had character breakfasts back then, and thats where he met Mickey for the first time, followed by Chef Mickey's for dinner. We do Chef Mickey's every year, and although he may now be close to 24, I STILL see that 3 year out sitting at my table.

I remember eating breakfast at the Pepeete Bay Verandah (Ohana's) in the Polynesian. It was a buffet breakfast with the largest selection of fruit I had ever seen. They even had fresh coconut. To this day every time I taste a coconut it reminds me of that wonderful breakfast.

The first time I was in Disney was in 1976 and I don't remember a thing. Fast forward to 1993 and we stayed off property. We ate at QS places and don't remember much about the food. (I remember plenty of the parks:)). 1998 was the year I became a Disney foodie. I went with a couple of Disney experts and had a blast! We went to the Garden Grill, Ohana, Liberty Tree Tavern, and the Coral Reef! I can remember where I sat in every place:D

That's so funny you say that. Whenever we re-visit a restaurant we pretty much always point out where we've sat before. We have actually sat at the same table at Ohana on 3 visits and another table there twice!

My first visit was in 2001, we were newbies and ate QS and stayed off property; actually we ate at the character breakfast at AK in it's old location and had the best server ever! The next visit was a little better, we stayed at OKW; we ate did Hoop de Doo, Spoodles, and Olivia's. It took me a few trips to become the foodie I am now. Fun thread topic, I like to think back to how I used to do it all wrong!! LOL

We were a young, newly married and broke couple in 1983.... Our first couple of trips we actually packed a cooler and I remember getting our hands stamped and we would go back to the car and picnic out of the trunk...those cold sandwiches and even colder cokes floating in rapidly melting ice were extra delicious when we were young and broke.

One of the earliest members I have in WDW was at Chef Mickey's. I think I was 4 and my brother was 2 and we had a great time seeing all the characters. This was back when it wasn't just Mickey and the gang there, but there was Prince John from Robin Hood and some other rare characters. I still love Chef Mickey's and it is partly because of the sentimental factor.

Our first trip was in '85...and the only TS meal I remember was Morocco. I remember really loving the atmosphere, but hating the food. The menu has changed quite a lot over the years and looks much more palatable these days. Whatever I had must have been similar to the chicken bastilla, but entree sized with LOTS of raisins.

I was about 4 years old and me and my family went to the Liberty Tree Tavern in MK, back when characters were there. I remember I was incredibly sick, so I could not eat anything. Chip and Dale noticed and gave me a tour of the place and rounded up all the other characters to cheer me up. I remember chip sneaking up on dale and shoving bread in his ears, it was the highlight of my vacation :)
Too bad the memories are a bit fuzzy and I do not remember everything.
