What Should We Do?

My wife and I are contemplating what we should do for our first vacation with our daughter, she will be 6 months old when we travel (April 2018). The choices are between a 7 day Eastern Caribbean Cruise with a Star Wars day at sea aboard the Fantasy, or a 10 night 9 day trip to WDW getting a group rate for Dapper Day?

Note, we have never done any cruise, and are worried we won't end up enjoying it.

I am by no means an expert at traveling with or visiting WDW with a 6 month old. My hats off to you for taking the plunge! Either trip will be lost on your daughter so it is really more of what you want to do. Do you want to relax and eat (primarily what you do on a cruise), or do you want to be immersed in the magical bubble that is WDW? I know... I'm not much help (I get that a lot)

Yeah, we realize the trip will be lost on her, we might get some cute pictures. We are definitely doing it for ourselves.

I personally would choose to do what is familiar to me-the WDW trip. Call me unadventurous, but I wouldn't want to do something totally new and different for baby's first trip. I'd want to do what's familiar to me and get more adventurous once the baby grows and you've got your sea legs about ya if you know what I mean.
Enjoy and early congrats!

I think logistically, a cruise would be "easier" with a baby that young since you won't be trying to rush around the parks, walking long distances, planning a hefty schedule, etc. I think being on a cruise is very relaxing - and even if you've never been on one it's not that scary! The only thing I'd suggest is making sure you bring sea sickness medication just to be sure!

Edit - I'd pick a Disney Cruise over a Disney Vacation if you know you are going to go back to WDW especially when the baby is older :)

I would say that going on the cruise will be an easier experience if you have a baby that age. Your room is always right there and and there is less noise and heat, etc. I would wait a year or so to take your daughter to WDW. It is better if they are not "stuck" in a stroller or carrier sweating the whole time but able to get out and walk around a bit.

Do the cruise. Especially since youve never experienced one yet. Disney cruises are easier to manage and everything is relaxing on board. You and your baby will be more comfortable and there wont be the hassel of managing crowded parks and lines for attractions.
