DHS What should they do with Animation Courtyard?

I think it’s all up in the air right now. There’s a not-zero chance that we’ll get some project pauses on tomorrow’s earnings call. Depends on how Disney’s seeing the rest of FY2025 shaping up, and tariffs and international visitors, etc.

Universal is supposedly seeing a bit of bounce back from Canadians.
Do you know if any already announced projects are at risk, and if so, can you clarify?

Basically, how worried should we be?

After visiting DHS on May the Fourth, Disney should turn Animation Courtyard and Launch Bay into the Star Wars popcorn bucket and Star Wars sipper distribution hub. Some of those lines were crazy!

I can think of at least 1 project...that if it is at risk...no one should be worried. Kachow
(no inside info, just would be nice to keep ROA)
(No inside info either)

True, I’d love for it to happen too. But they just built imagineering trailers behind the river, so I kidna doubt it. Would be nice.

While it’s never gonna happen, It would be also be nice to keep some foolishness we’d like to see at DHS.

Hey, I know mama melrose closes next week, and muppetvision has a closing date, but hey, no actual permits have been filed nor any trailers have been built! So, maybe?(massive cope, I know).

Actually that's what I thought you said.😅

I had thought Canadian tourism to the US was only deteriorating.

How does this relate to this thread, again? 😅
Well, one of the things Len mentioned was potential announcements here as a counter to Epic opening. If Epic isn't bringing people in and impacting Disney, they might be less likely to blow money and announcements to attempt a counter to Epic. If Epic is starting to see some increase in tourism and Disney is not, could mean the announcement is back on.

I think they are using the starcruiser in place on the "trailers" at DHS

Well, looks like we got something ELSE announced today! Very unexpected

And they did mention coco, avatar, villains, and cars by name on the call, so it seems like a lot of announced things are safe.
Is it bad that I’m bummed about the new park being the announcement instead of animation courtyard

They need so much for the US parks to stay relevent, I dont even want to see stuff for a new park in Dubai.....especially when the art is that vague...
I would love to see the announcement for Animation Courtyard becoming Cars Road RaLLYE...AND an announcement they are keeping the ROA, shortening the path like they did in Disneyland so they could keep the paddleboat and Frontierland, and just building Villains Lair on the backside.... That is a press release I would like to see.....

You think that some cute merch will produce just as many lifelong fans as when they had a great ride, an amazing post ride and merch?

No one is claiming Figment is going to completely disappear, but he is basically following the same path as the Muppets. Sure, both get new fans now and then, have a STRONG loyal base that grew up with them, but have lost relevance as time has gone on. Eventually you will only see them on merch.
I feel that’s Disney’s fault & not kids. I see a decent amount of kids in the parks with Figment & even Kermit merch. So there’s still some sort of appeal to these characters to modern day kids. I don’t think I’ve seen any kids with Powerline merch, something clearly aimed at older fans now.

Disney’s just not producing anything high quality with either Figment or the Muppets. If they revamped the Figment ride or did an actually good Muppets show/movie, I think they’d both be pretty popular.

This isn’t response to Epic but their new park in Great Britain.
I don’t think this is in response to that at all. This is just to make a park for the 1%. It’s a completely different audience than the UK Universal park.

You don’t think it’s weird right after Universal announces a new park in Europe all of sudden Disney has a project planned in the Middle East ?

It doesn’t matter who they are catering to because that’s not the point I was trying to make.
