DHS What should they do with Animation Courtyard?

I still don’t feel that confident about this “AC PROJECT” being announced in may. Just seems off, and not like something Disney would do.

Something is off about it to me.
I do wonder if it was actually something is opening in Animation Courtyard the week Epic opens? Little Mermaid is opening in Animation Courtyard 5 days after Epic Universe is opening and Little Mermaid and Villains are Disney's big new offerings this year along with the parade later in the Summer

I just read about the Animation Courtyard rumor tonight (Disney announcing an IP when EPIC opens) for the first time. It seems like a lot of the discussion around this is a few weeks old. Anyone heard any updates?

thought for everyone, with bluey being thrown around. Bluey is a licensed ip. We all know ToT is liscensed. Even though all these properties are heavily associated with the Disney brand, back in the day, star tours, Indy, the muppets, and avatar were all licensed brands. And they all became beloved attractions.

Bluey appearing shows that the idea is not fully dead at Disney. While I agree Disney has many ip’s that are underutilized, sometimes, as shown throughout history, they can be of great benefit to Disney if achieved right. So i ask you, would you be ok that if the brand is big enough and the ideas are right, Disney licensed big outside IP for their parks?

Yes, i know it would never happen because synergy and all that, but as this is hypothetical, if it WAS possible, would you do it? Or would you stick with Disney’s library only?
Completely misread this as Bluey taking over the Tower of Terror from Twilight Zone and thought it wouldn't be much farther off than Muppets taking over RNRC 🫠

Bluey taking over Tower of Terror for the kids would be awfully crazy, and they'd have to change the height requirements down a bit if they changed that too! :)

The Disney Junior Dance Party is being replaced at California Adventure with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live. What do you all make of this?
I hope it makes its way over here. It was a show I liked as a kid and my little brother likes it too so I would love to do that with him.

They are literally tearing out the heart of the MK in order to cram a Cars franchise in there, meanwhile this re-used flex space seems to go on and on and on.... If they are in such desperate need for attraction space why have they not torn all of this down....and replaced it with something new and compelling?.

Now RoA is the ‘heart of the MK’? Come on…

I don’t think any kid is begging for Muppets anything. Heck, it’s more likely this show is aimed at Grandma who can’t ride RnRC anymore than it is any kid.

The Muppets are in a similar position to Figment. Disney would have a riot on their hands if they got rid of them in the parks entirely, but most audiences don’t care about them anymore.

This, unfortunately, is the truth. Kids don’t grow up watching Muppets. Why does it fit into RnRC? Because it’s adult fans who want to keep it around. Kids didn’t care about Muppetvision. And to the heartbreak of long-time parks fans, kids don’t care about Figment. Most don’t even know who he is. He has a rabid fanbase of 30+ year olds who buy all his merch, but kids do not care. It’s why his ride isn’t a priority to update and his M&G is empty most of the day.

It’s not the heart of the park but it’s one of those things you expect to see in some form when you go to a Disney park .
Every castle park currently has a river, even those without Frontierland. Hong Kong’s jungle cruise serves that purpose and Shanghai has Adventure Isle. I wouldn’t call either of those the “heart of the park.”

I think DL and DLP are the only two that really fit that description for me personally.

Sounds like a bad idea in theory and I do not like avatar but I think Joe rode absolutely made it work.
I get that. While I do not like Simpsons and do not want it, I personally have an easier time accepting Simpsons in AC than aliens in AK. HS gets a free pass from me as a catch all since its no longer a "studio". I try to hold the other 3 parks to a higher standard.

I’m not concerned about it fitting in Hollywood studios. I think it would be a waste of the parks last big expansion pad not to mention universal already saw the concept though to its full potential and personally the only Simpsons thing I’ve ever liked is the Christmas special that debuted on Disney+ last year.

MK has a big lagoon in front through which people can ride the ferry. If they want a boat ride, the ferry meets that purpose. I have been to MK many times with my kids. They love the ferry and other boats around WDW, they do not ask to go on the boat in ROA.

The Columbia ship in DL was different since it is a pirate ship.

I feel Simpsons is outdated and a bad choice. I'm afraid Disney thinks it is a good choice though. It's similar to Muppets. I think the long-term fans will like it, but that section of the park will end up with not as many visitors as other IPs.

Let’s hope Zootopia 2 is a hit and they build it over Simpsons. I would still prefer an Incredibles/Super Hero land but anything over Simpsons. Please no!
Not too crazy about Zootopia but not because I don’t like it. Because I want something different for Hollywood studios. But yeah anything would be better than Simpsons.

not really interested in going over the rivers of America debate but as for your second point I’d much rather the muppets have a full land over the Simpsons.
