can we just replace B&tB PLEASE?!?
Besides Launch Bay it's the bare minimum replacement they could make to improve the park.

I’ve been a big supporter of Tokyo’s Big Band Beat taking this space. Big Band music just fits in Sunset Boulevard, and that show is fantastic (also in English, which is a plus). It really is time to come up with a new show...or bring one in from one of the other parks worldwide...
Ummm did you read the announcement? No offense but it literally states it is inspired by the short, Once Upon a Studio. This landed with a thud for me.
Partially because I don’t understand what this attraction is. The poster is reminiscent of Once Upon a Studio, so I wonder if the theater will show that short.
This seems like a holdover concept from the 100th that finally is getting the greenlight because people are mad Launch Bay still exists while Muppets doesn’t.
I’m gonna need more information before I’m sold on this, even if only temporarily.
Whatever the long term goal is likely would've gotten rid of the arch too. This will help flow into that area. If you eventually build a full land there you will need easy access. The arch hinders that. This seems like a lot of effort to go though for not a permanent thing. I bet this lasts at least 5-6 years. We are even losing the arch for it.
To be honest, I hadn’t read it when I posted that. I am more positive on it after sitting for a bit. It’ll be a much better use of space and I’m sure families will enjoy it. Admittedly, I’m still bitter that Monstropolis didn’t go here.Ummm did you read the announcement? No offense but it literally states it is inspired by the short, Once Upon a Studio.
I have a hard time buying that it’s a placeholder as well. However… I could see them building off of this ‘land’ with one or two more substantial attractions. Theming the area to the Studio in Burbank gives them a lot of avenues to go. It’s always going to have appeal and you’re always going to have IP that you can naturally incorporate without it feeling forced. I’m shocked it took them this long. This seems like a lot of effort to go though for not a permanent thing. I bet this lasts at least 5-6 years. We are even losing the arch for it.
How does the arch hinder access? They’re not removing the landscaping barrier on the sides.Whatever the long term goal is likely would've gotten rid of the arch too. This will help flow into that area. If you eventually build a full land there you will need easy access. The arch hinders that.
If you look at the image it appears to be a wider opening. It's like the widening of the hub at MK or stuff like that. Allows for easier guest flow. How does the arch hinder access? They’re not removing the landscaping barrier on the sides.
My guess is that is what they would do. Put whatever the long term plan is behind that new courtyard tree area further back.Even if it’s slightly wider, I’d argue the opposite of your earlier position. The arch was actually better transitionally if they ever put a visually distinct land back there that’s incongruous with Hollywood and Sunset. It blocks the view. That said, at this point I’d kind of hope they just keep the forecourt and put anything new behind the Animation facade.
Except this time we’ve lost MV3D.Folks remember that the area was a stale afterthought back when it housed an almost identical animation-without-animators attraction, right? We have literally done this exact same thing with the EXACT SAME attraction lineup before.
Word around the Launch Bay is there's now a completed concept for Animation Courtyard. As in "we could release this to the public."
Not sure what ideas made it in or timeline. But they've settled on a direction.
Are these both referring to the animation exhibits in the Launch Bay and associated decoration of the courtyard?I’ve heard that one short-term concept here is to replace Launch Bay with …
Stop me if you’ve heard this before
… a series of walk-thru exhibits about Disney animation.
Which, okay, is relatively straightforward and inexpensive. They could use it to promote tons of upcoming projects. Meets the synergy goal.
If that’s the case, I think they should play it like a “buddy movie”. Cast a comedian who doesn’t understand animation and someone really strait-laced to explain it. I’m pretty sure I could have a script ready in a couple hours.
“I love 2D,” he said. “Right now we have 2D artists who are doing some bonkers amazing things. I’ll leave it at that.”

That does sound like a great show...and a great fit for Sunset Boulevard...I’ve been a big supporter of Tokyo’s Big Band Beat taking this space. Big Band music just fits in Sunset Boulevard, and that show is fantastic (also in English, which is a plus).
Right, I was just saying that I disagreed with the notion that removing the existing one would be necessary even if Animation Courtyard were replaced by a new, discontinuous land. In that case, the arch would make more sense than not having one as it would provide a better visual buffer. This change is totally cool in the context of what's happening, though. The arch is being replaced with a copy of “The Walt Disney Studios” entry marquee from Burbank
