DHS What should they do with Animation Courtyard?

But building in the parks is different. If they just got rid of Song of the South, changed Pirates, Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan, and soon Tom Sawyer’s island for outdated references I don’t see them doubling down on Simpsons.
Stepping in, don't often do but I see this post and I think you are genuinely doing an apples to oranges in equating Simpsons to Song of The South.

With the exclusion of Apu, who has been effectively been positioned away from being a speaking role since 2017; Simpsons has not really gone to the point of insensitivity to warrant them having that kind of a concern when approaching The Simpsons as a concept.

I'd also bring up that if Disney was hesitant on The SImpsons, they wouldn't of made it a touted key element of when they were purchasing Fox, and they wouldn't be putting it on the pedastal that it is now for Disney Plus.

The only thing with Simpsons is that it feels like they'd have to recreate some of the locations that Universal have already created (Moe's, the Kwik-E-Mart, Krusty Burger, Duff, Lard Lads) that it would feel like they're just copying what Universal did with a new attraction. At least with Avengers Campus, it was set in a different location to MSI at Islands, and the attractions are all different that AC feels very different to MSI

Outside of obvious things Disney can't pass up like Moe's and Krusty Burger, Disney could build things like the family's house and the power plant to make their version of the IP stand on its own merits with unique offerings. They'd definitely have the benefit of new facilities.

I feel like that would've been the case regardless if someone else did The Simpsons. Be if it would've been Fox Dhabi, or Disney; the challenge lies in what you do that'd be different from what Universal has done.

Honestly? I think they might actually be fine to do "The Simpsons" in the way of making Springfield a real environment. Because whenever I think of the "Springfield" lands, Orlando never comes up to mind and I think that'd oddly be the perfect reason to why they'd do it.

Orlando Springfield, in comparison to Hollywood Springfield; is horrendeus. Even with the flat, it doesn't feel like a fully realized land that makes sense for Universal Studios Florida. Hollywood however; because of how our Fast Food Boulevard is positioned to highlight three key dining locations, and then having the "Duff Gardens/Luigis" building, allows it to feel like a genuine town that would allow it to shine.

Going with a more grand and large "Springfield" similar in scope to what USH has done; with a major dark ride that suits the IP, wouldn't be a game breaking choice as it'd make sense on merchandising.

Say its name.
Club Penguin.

I'm telling you, if they make a Simpsons attraction, it's probably going to be just like those Disney Plus shorts. Y'know, the ones that rely on one joke: it's the Simpsons interacting with Disney characters? The ones that aren't funny, clever, or well-written in the slightest?

I think a ride like that has the potential to be even worse than Superstar Limo.

I think if they are doing The Simpsons as a new ride, they're going to get people who are writers from the show to be active and present throughout the process.

The Simpsons Ride was initially hit by that of the writers strikes that happened around the time of the development; and it was why we don't have Treehouse of Horror as part of it, because they couldn't get people involved. I have to think they'd want to rectify that past development matter, and have the attraction be led with people who consistently write Simpsons. Being able to craft something that works for the context of the Disney parks in a attraction that can stand on it's own.

We know they've had alternative concepts for The Simpsons Ride before, and Fox Dubai had it of went forward, seemingly would've had a stand-out Simpsons attraction on it's own. Doubt it'd be something on the scale of the Disney Plus shorts in writing quality.

Honestly, if and when they add Simpsons, do we really believe it wouldn’t be more than a value engineered reskin of some existing buildings with a lame “attraction” or meet and greet? They are not going invest 100mil plus into this IP.

The Simpsons is a pillar and a cornerstone of Disney Plus. Unless something changes, it is ripe for potential; and it has a ton of merchandising and food based incentives that allows it to be profitable for the terms of the GP.

I get that it has some viewership on D+, but I can’t see the draw or a viable ride concept? Many of us here are theme park addicts, I can’t remember the last time I heard someone here or in my orbit “have to” go to USO to see the simpsons, or even talk about the show. An earlier poster equated it to the Muppets in its waning popularity, that feels right. Not sure what generation will respond in a way that justifies a large invest in this at DHS. I am less confident that Iger will do it correctly. BTW, I loved the Simpsons from the beginning. It just doesn’t feel right when there is so much untapped IP that could use that valuable space

Or god forbid someone actually comes up with an original concept for once but we know that's an offensive idea to IgerCorp.

Yeah, about that... those Disney Plus shorts were actually written by the writers from the show.
