DHS What should they do with Animation Courtyard?

I’ll disagree a bit here - the Simpsons at its peak had real heart and absolutely didn’t rely on crudeness or shock-value. It was not akin to Family Guy. The problem is that the shows peak coincided pretty well with Disney World’s peak - the mid-90s. The show hasn’t even risen to the level of “good” since before Animal Kingdom opened, and the shambling zombie of a program that still exists isn’t just bland or unfunny but is actually pathetic, besmirching what was once one of the greatest TV shows of all time.

On top of all that, Disney just isn’t going to make a significantly better Simpsons Land than Universal. Perhaps they’ll improve on it by building a dark ride, but I’m incredibly skeptical.

Also, exchanging Muppets for present-day Simpsons would be a HUGE downgrade in terms of self-aware, satirical meta humor.

Rise, yes the whole SGE seems like we are walking amongst actors, etc. TSL is odd, because we are shrunk down so that toys in Andy's backyard are gigantic. (I actually think SGE would work well if it was also a toy set, or if as you walk from TSL to SGE through that valley they should have people on the top who change from clearly toys, to more organic, to make the transition between lands make sense).

IOA isn't the studio park. JP is supposed to be real.

Jaws isn't a flume ride.

Yes, done them both. But, neither are flume water rides. They are movie studio FX demonstrations. I've acted the PH show twice.
The OP said “water rides.” Not “flume water rides.”

It could be tolerable as an isolated attraction, but HS is currently in the business of converting everything into themed IP-based lands. The Simpsons does not take place in an interesting setting. It is intended to be mundane; it’s a cartoon sitcom. The series’ most prominent locales are a shabby residential home, a dive bar, a public school, a nuclear power plant, and a convenience store. Universal barely made it workable by copping out and theming a carnival to Krusty. The question is, why pick The Simpsons when you have access to hundreds of fanciful settings that are interesting even without the veneer of a rapidly waning IP attached to them?

I think its inevitable, because after Potter it's probably the Simpsons that sells the most merch at Universal. It's popularity is declining but its still very recognizable and nostalgic to people over 30 or so.

But yes, it will be difficult to insert the Simpsons in a seamless way.

It is also one of the few rides at DHS everyone in the family can do. This park is desperate for no height restriction attractions. Clearly DIS recognizes this?!? Hope the AC expansion gives us some rides for everyone in the family.
This is why I dont understand why they didn't bring over the monsters inc dark ride at the same time as doing the coaster. They only want to build the biggest toys now and nothing else, gotta rake in the big LL profit.

Ughhhh why does this Simpsons rumor never die? It is outdated, past its prime, and Universal already did it better. Disney can’t be that stupid, can they?

Are you describing this too?

It’s also likely the most popular D+ series after Bluey. Maybe Disney should work on organically creating IP supported by a TV series instead of acquiring or licensing it.

Has Disney actually done anything good with the Simpsons since buying 20th Century FOX? I haven't heard much if any praise for the episodes released since then, the general consensus regarding the Disney Plus shorts is that they're lousy... does Simpsons merchandise even still sell that well?

Y'all are looking at it wrong. Merch doesn't matter anymore, it doesn't even matter if it's still entirely relevant (Cars, Monsters Inc and arguably the villains trend are beyond their prime now), Simpsons would have one important thing here.

A live demonstration they own 20th Century Fox now on the biggest stage possible, their theme parks. Avatar blends in TOO well, and that was prior to acquisition. Having a land that has a Simpsons dark ride, maybe a Bob's Burgers quick service? Drunken Clam bar? That's a demonstration they own allllll of those IPs, and a live demonstration they own Hulu as well.

Sure, it sucks Jungle Book doesn't have a ride at WDW, neither does The Lion King, Wall-E, Zootopia, Moana, Beauty and the Beast, Lilo and Stitch, the avant garde film known as Chicken Little, and other classics like Fantasia and Bambi, but those aren't a show of power.

Iger wants to end his rule at Disney, presumably with a demonstration of what he's done, and there's no better way than to announce The Simpsons are making their new theme park home the happiest place on Earth.

That'll beat Universal and their Italian plumber and third wizard land.

Wait, Universal is replacing Simpsons with what? With a WHAT kind of ride?

If it means anything, the Zootopia rumor for this space has been dead for a hot minute.

Boo. This is a terrible idea. It’s also of note marvel could serve a similar function.

Simpsons is easier to acquire than Marvel for Florida.

Marvel is being held captive for a reason by Universal, the Simpsons deal has a contractual end date.
