What Should Never Be Changed?

Forum members like to discuss upcoming WDW modifications, park improvements, and changes they’d like to see. This has me wondering, is there is anything in WDW that should never be changed?

At first I thought Main Street USA and Cinderella Castle are so iconic that they could never be changed. Then I remembered both have undergone alterations over the years, although they are substantially the same since MK opened in 1971.

Attractions frequently undergo refurbishments and sometimes are modified during these refurbs. Some "classic" WDW attractions have been completely replaced. I could envision the Monorail being updated or even replaced with a newer, more efficient system someday.

The only thing I could think of that might be unchangeable is the ''Partners'' Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse Statue in the central hub because of the ill will that would be generated if TWDC tried to remove or replace it.

Is there anything at WDW that should never be changed?

They should never replace PhilharMagic and Muppet Vision because those are my two favorite 3D shows in the parks and they hold a special place in my heart!

1) Classic fantasy land rides like Peter Pan and Small World should never change.
2) Spaceship Earth should never change (updates to account for new technology are OK, but the overall theme should never change).
3) The 3 mountains in MK should never change.
4) CoP should only be updated, but never changed or taken away.
5) The HM should never change (again)
6) Pirates should never change

Everything else is fair game for me.

I would like to see the shows Beauty and the Beast, and Voyage of the Little Mermaid change back to what they were before they were chopped, then never change. Too much content was cut.

Main Street has declined enormously. An entire street was taken away. Nearly all attractions have been closed. Specialty shops have disappeared. The flower market is gone. The Penny Arcade, the Cinema, the Walt Disney Story, the Swan Boats - all are gone.

It's the same sad story as ever. Main Street was build so fantastically well, so lavishly, that you can rip out half of it, and still it is a great place. It is such a tragedy.

So many of my little shrines have been brutaly vandalised that I dread to even think naming places I would wish to remain forever. I must admit that by temperament I tend towards nostalgia and preservation of what is. I want everything build in WDW before 1990 to stay forever.

What should never change:
World Showcase. They should add to it, not take away from it.
The front end of DHS. The two boulevards and Echo Lake. But do remove the hat and redo the hub.
SSE and LwtL.
Liberty Square.
Space Mountain.
Peoplemover.
Monorail, both around SSL and to EPCOT.
The name Walt Disney World.

Never is way too long to go without change. It's just a fact of life. The only things that should remain the same are the name and the partners statue.
