I would be okay with tearing it down, IF something else were slated to replace it. However, I really think a refurb/retheme might be a better idea. A Pirates theme might work quite well given they have a water scene they can use. Re-create the maelstrom scene from Pirates 3.

Right now it's a water preshow with a small tour of some costumes and props from old movies and Disney attractions and Catastophy Canyon. And that's it.

Gut it and start new. We can do better than this, and probably incorporate some new, cool things.

Severely shorten the backlot tour to extend no further than the bone cage.....have it start and end at the current terminus location. Invest in one or two additional 'attractions' similar to catastropy canyon (but perhaps not as costly) so that the tour is a little more worthwhile.

Then reclaim the land/building used for the Pearl Harbor idiocy....and utilize it for Pixar.

Problem solved...

Bring back Residential Street. When that was removed, the tour became a waste of space.

i think that's what i remember from when i used to go as a kid. the 'new' tour lacks personality; the recording that they now use in the cars is awful. at least when the 'tour guide' used to do it, it was really like you were in catastrophe canyon. you could sense the fear in their voice as you were unwillingly entered into a movie scene. same with hearing the 'director' coming from the top of the canyon, and thinking 'ah heck! we're stuck in here aaahh!'
i also remember it used to be a lot longer, and have more props and things to see and do. although, i do like the big warehouse you enter with all the movie props at the beginning.... although you don't really get enough time to look around. they really need to put more into the backlot tour, its jsut not as fun anymore :(
and put the 20k sub back in the first bit!

I say demo the attraction and use the land for other things. The footprint that attraction takes up is HUGE... if they're smart, they could probably fit an expansion of Pixar Place and another land on that space. If they're willing to consolidate some of the backstage trailers and isolated buildings to more compact areas, then you could make that 2 lands.

How does this sound:

1. Extension of Pixar Place on south side of plot, close to LMA, where the Pearl Harbor site is now (it's huge). I'm thinking Incredibles mega-dark ride, Monsters Inc coaster, and a Ratatouille restaurant.

2. A new version of Toontown on the north side of the plot, where the trailers and CM parking are now, right behind Animation Courtyard and the Walt Disney Story. This could be lifted directly from Disneyland, with Roger Rabbit's Toontown Spin, Mickey and Minnie's houses, another dark ride themed to some Disney character, maybe even a new elevated version of the Toontown Jolly Trolley.

3. If they planned carefully, this would leave a decent-sized lot in the center of the current Backlot, and in between the proposed Toontown and Pixar Place expansion. They could leave this spot open initially, but down the road could become a great area for a Marvel-themed land. If they had it surrounded by an entrance to the Incredibles ride on one side and Toontown on the other, it would flow even better. The sum of all three would make the backlot tour a distant memory.

Wishful thinking, I suppose.

It could be saved or scraped. The preshow thing was a waste of time. I liked seeing the sets and sewing but they drive by too fast. C-canyon was a let down last time. First off, the WC car doesn't move lol! Second, the recording killed it.

Fix it or Kick it
