What new attractions would you like to see at WDW?

If you could choose the new attractions at WDW, what characters would they feature & what type of attractions would they be?

To be honest, I wouldn't use any pre-established characters. Many of Disney's best attractions weren't based on a movie or cartoon. My ideal attraction would be along the lines of Horizons, World of Motion, Pirates of the Caribbean, or Haunted Mansion. In other words, I want audio-animatronics heavy attractions that tell a general story but leave plenty of room for using your own imagination. It would have an educational aspect to it, so I'm guessing it would fit in best at EPCOT (note the caps). My ideal spot would be where Test Track is now, because it currently has no educational value and really is nothing more than an automated, faster Autopia. Actually, they could keep the cars and the track and redesign it to fit a new story of the history of transportation. If I think of a more original idea I'll post it, but for now, that works for me.
Above all, my attraction would not be based on cheap thrills (ToT) or dippy fads (HSM). It would be something everyone could enjoy, and with only minor changes here and there, might stand the test of time.

I want to see my Sword in the Stone ride! I've been campaigning, but so far no luck. But if we can't get that through, I would love to see a computer-technology ride, maybe something in Epcot that was about cutting-edge technology in that edutainment vein. Thought it might be interesting.

What would The Sword in the Stone ride consist of?
Any ideas?

I would like to see a Lion King ride. I saw a drawing someone had done of one and it looked amazing. Or, do a Mary Poppins ride. Use some classic disney stuff or non at all. I am sick of seeing Pixar things.

They have The Festival of the Lion King show at the AK.
What would your ride consist of?
Which park?

I definitely agree that the parks' best attractions are often the original ones, but I think from both a standpoint of fun and profitability, you have to mix your types of attractions. Educational rides, dark rides, thrill rides all have their place (as long as they all have very well done theming) in WDW, and I think variety makes my day in the parks more interesting. Not every attraction must be for the whole family. As a slow grower as a child, I hated that I couldn't go on Space Mountain (this is the one that is poignant in my memory). Then, when I got a little older, I thought Alien Encounter was so cool; it did scare me a little, but I was of an appropriate age to go on the attraction by the time it opened. What about families with a 6 year old, an 11 year old, and a 14 year old? The 11 and 14 year olds might be in 'stages' where dark rides based on disney movies are "lame," so they won't want to sit through all the rides for the sake of the 6 year old. They also probably aren't looking for an educational vacation. By giving them a few neatly themed thrill rides, it will appease them as they go on the other attractions. Not everyone is going to appreciate the nuances of our favorite attractions. Then there is the late teen crowd; I'm sure many will say, 'they belong in Cedar Point', but they are customers too, and I'm sure many have good reasons for going to Disney. This group typically prefers the thrill ride as well. I just think it a little narrow minded to say certain attractions don't 'belong' in WDW because they aren't for the whole family. I have a tough time seeing how the World Showcase interests toddlers, but that doesn't mean it should be cut out because it isn't for the whole family.

I think Alien Encounter could have been a perfect example (sans the being too scary for kids part) of an attraction like this. Not for the actual encounter with an alien, but for the pre-show with Skippy. Skippy had the potential to be a classic WDW character, but they missed the opportunity. If I could get more attractions like that, the original JII, and any of the original pavilions at EPCOT Center, I would be happy. Leave the actual ideas to the imagineers, they're more qualified for that stuff than you and I. I just like the general philosophy.

I'd love to see a bigger, longer dark ride go in behind the Pooh's playground area in Fantasyland, whether it is a water ride or other type doesn't make a bit of difference to me. I think Pinocchio is under-used, so that might be a good theme.....

I'd also like to see the skyway put back into action, but maybe on a different route....send it from Tomorrowland to Tom Sawyer Island for a drop off and then on to the rest of Frontierland.....

As always, I'd like to see more rides in the WS countries, but I figure that I'm just wishing big....DS also needs more rides, but I think that's a general feeling amongst most World fans....

my 2 cents,

dave

I want a Tron ride in Tomorrowland. Probably right where those "futuristic" go-karts are.

Yeah...maybe one of those interactive type games that you can play w/ other people!:)

I'd always figured they'd do something with Tron in DQ, but nope. Just how cool would it be to be in those vehicles with you controlling them? :sohappy:

hmm

I have this whole medieval japan ninja type ride that would fit really well in disney somewhere. A boat ride like pirates of the carribean dealing with a ninja (wont say what story i came up with). It would be a ride sort of like pirates but not story wise. IT would also be able to be made into a movie.

It would be a great ride but disney doesnt like ideas from non employees so it will never be heard.

Yes, I remember riding 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea when I was little.
A water ride would be nice!:D
I do miss the skyway too...you could ride & see the MK from an entirely different vantage point!:lookaroun

I would love to see an Incredibles ride similar to the Spider-Man ride at Universal. Put it in at MGM.
Yes...that would be using a new character line (unlike Pooh, Peter Pan, etc.), but they are opening a new Toy Story ride at MGM & they just opened up the Monsters, Inc. attraction at the MK & Nemo & Friends at Epcot is fairly new...so it looks like the new character attractions are working!
