What never build WDW hotels/resorts would you like to see built?

The tilte should state nevere built not build.

There are a bunch of proposed WDW hotels and resorts that were never built. Here are a few of them.

Disney's Asian Resort : To be located where Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa was eventually built in Walt Disney World, Florida.

Disney's Persian Resort : To be located adjacent to the Seven Seas Lagoon in Walt Disney World, Florida.

Disney's Mediterranean Resort : A Greek themed resort to be located on the Seven Seas Lagoon in Walt Disney World, Florida.

Cypress Point Lodge : A rustic-themed resort that was to have resembled Yellowstone Lodge. To be located were Disney's Wilderness Lodge is located now.

Fort Wilderness Junction : A highly themed, moderately priced 600-room resort in the style of Disneyland Paris' Cheyenne Hotel complex.

My vote goes to the Mediterranean!

The early Grand Floridian Hotel concepts show a small bridge from the South East corner of the Hotel to the Wave Machine island. It was here a few Honeymoon Villas and a Light house were to be built. It would have been so cool to be on that small island in the middle of WDW.

This past May, I made it a point to really look across Hourglass Lake to see the un-built half of POP. I think it needs to be finished. Railings are starting to fall off and I am sure that there are other parts that might need some lovin'. Fix POP! Whether to finish individual rooms or suites, or half and half, I don't care. Make it pretty, Disney.

Wow way to hate on America, I'm not sure how many places you have actually been in the world but there are just as many racists in other countries.

He does have a point though.
I can't imagine how much the occupancy rates would have dropped at the Persian Hotel had it existed during the aftermath of 9/11.

Just FYI, any 'railing' you see on the other side are simple wood railings, made of 2x4s. Thats why they are or appear to be falling off.

Woah now, I wasn't hating on America there (How can I, with a screen name like "Mark Twain"?). As Slappy Magoo pointed out on the last page, there are many Americans (although as well as people from other countries) that are paranoid about Islamic influence in the US after the aftermath of 9/11. These people might be offended to see a Persian resort right outside the gates to the Magic Kingdom. Kind of like the political correctness issues surrounding Dixie Landings. But I acknowledge that most of us aren't that way.

By the way, here's a picture of the proposed Venetian Resort I mentioned earlier, courtesy of Wikipedia:

My bad  the only thing I have to say is that I don't think many people even know that Persian and Islam go together. Also Since Persia technicaly doesn't exist anymore (I think Persia is now Iran) maybe it wouldn't be a problem. Also Aladdin is still as popular as ever so who knows maybe it could work.

Thanks for the pic.

Ahh, I did not know that. Thanks for clearing it up. I made a point of really looking this trip - well, as much as I could - and I noticed several places of the railings. There is a lot more built than I thought. I noticed where the entrance into the resort would be from the main road, too. I have to say, I have learned quite a bit from people on this board.

No problem. You can actually walk over to right next to one of the buildings, there is a sidewalk the whole way, over on the 50s end of the property. From right next to the wall you can see everything.

You're welcome :)

Regarding the Persian, of all the original hotels proposed for WDW, the Persian is the one I would most like to see and stay in.

As for the Venetian, the concept sounds great and a wonderful place to stay... but the design looks more contemporary/1970s than Venetian. To my knowledge there aren't many 6-story, white, block-shaped towers in Venice. I would expect a Venetian resort to look more like the Italy Pavilion at Epcot.

But maybe I'm just being reaaaally architecturally picky.

Would anyone else like to see a "Parisian Resort?"

Only if I can stay in the Eiffel Tower room.

The Mediterranean would have been amazing. I worked for a GC firm that bid the project but it was way over budget and the soil on the site was simply too soft. The plans were in final stages but the soil tests always showed the ground was too unstable. There was to have been an insland built with a restaurant on it with only boat access with an underground tunnel for cast members. Amazing. That is an amazing site..very very prime piece of land. Remains to be seen if anything can be done with it.

Sounds cool!... was this the same site as one proposed for the Venetian? (on that peninsula south of the Contemporary with all the trees cleared?)

I'm surprised Disney can build lakes, mountains, and castles, but they let some soft soil prevent them from building such a wonderful hotel...

I wish to see to build to expand the All-Star Movies and to put The Incredibles in the All-Star Movies with the Life Size of Mr. Incredible in the front and the poster of the Incredibles in the room!

MarkTwain...yes it seems odd...and yes that is the site. Basically its a matter of cost. The soil there is extremely soft and marshy and it would cost an absolute fortune to set deep piles and adequate foundations.

Within the last 10 years or so Disney piled up lots of dirt on the site but has since let it get overgrown. I know the piling up of dirt is used in compress soft soils for building. So maybe the site is better than it was in the 70's - 80's when the Venetian/Mediterranean Resorts were 1st proposed.
