We all have our favourite resorts, but what one thing makes it so special that brings you back.We have only been to three resorts, all mods, but we love PORS and the one thing that makes it so special to us is the complete serenity about the whole resort.Standing on a bridge overlooking the sassagoula river at 6.30 in the morning is breathtaking. So my question is " what makes your resort so special? "just one thing.:)

POFQ for us. The entire resort is so peaceful. Strolling around the grounds, everything is relaxing and the feel of the place immediately puts me at ease. We've stayed there during peak and quiet seasons and other than a stay which had overly noisy cheerleaders around the hot tub it's always been a pleasant stay. The river walk is a plus and I love the boat access to DTD.

I would have to say for my Disney Family, it is the Wilderness Lodge. We've stayed there everytime. I get goose bumps when pull on the road and stop at the security check in and they say " Welcome home, Mrs. Edwards." I just love it.

So many reasons. We stayed at the Poly on an all expense paid trip when I was in first grade, which is the first trip to WDW that I have substantial memories of (on my first trip, I was only 3.) I remember being so impressed that they picked us up in a golf cart to take us to our room, and I will never forget how the lobby smelled. To this day that smell instantly makes me think of vacation, and happiness. I spent my honeymoon there, I went on a sisters-only trip with my dear younger sister, etc etc, and now soon it will be the first WDW hotel my sweet little son will stay at.

I love all the WDW resorts, but the Poly will always hold that special place in my heart.

I have to say the Poly. I've never had a bad stay at any of the resorts but nothing feels like Disney to me like the Poly. I went there many times with my mother as a child but I never really appreciated it until I went back as an adult. Thankfully my daughter fell in love with the Poly from her first stay and to us it's made it even more special. My daughter is not the type to express a lot of emotion and to see her light up and get so excited about this resort when we arrived just cinched it for me. Right there is proof of the Disney magic and for us it will always be the Poly.

I know I am only supposed to pick one resort, but I am going to list 2 for different reasons. POFQ was the first Disney hotel that I ever stayed at and it was with my mom and we have stayed there probably 3 more times since. I am going to add WL since it was were I took my husband for his first time to WDW. I still remember both of us being in awe when we walked into the lobby. I just felt like I was somewhere in the North Woods rather than central Florida. I love both of these hotels equally and cant wait to go back.

Hands down, Wilderness Lodge.

My very first ever trip to WDW was my honeymoon. 11 night stay on the top floor of the WL. Awesome view, great ambiance, and my first ever impression of WDW.

We walked off of the Magical Express into that lobby, and it makes me smile to this day thinking of the way that it made me feel. At that point, I had never been to WDW, no addiction or infatuation... That is what started it all.

I discovered WDW last summer right before my 50 bday when I asked my daughter to take a quick road trip to the beach in Florida with me and we would stop at WDW for a few days so my grandkids could do the "disney" thing. We stayed at POP. We went back in October for the foodie thing and stayed at CBR. And after that I said lets go at easter ad we stayed at Coronado Springs.:) I loved CSR. The hammocks on the sandy beach, the sprawl of the resort, the variety and quality at the food court, the pool... We are now 21 days from our 4th trip which I have 6 days at the Beach Club (for the pool) and 3 days at AKL (because well it had a really cheap room only rate). My goal is to stay at every disney resort! I love going to WDW with my daughter and grandkids.:p

The Contemporary will always be my favorite, as much as I do enjoy the other resorts. I remember staying there as a child, and it was always magical. Seeing the A-frame tower just makes me happy. I still love watching the monorail going through the concourse. I'm sorry the Concourse Steakhouse is gone, but the Contempo Cafe is still a relaxing place to monorail-watch. I know the theme may not be as striking or cohesive as some of the other resorts, but walking into that lobby just makes me feel like I'm home. :)

Our favorite resort we've stayed in is definitely Wilderness Lodge. i love that it is so close to the action, yet seems so secluded. A quick boat trip and you're at the MK. The size of the resort also makes it a favorite as it is not as spread out as POR or the All Stars. The lobby is beautiful and honestly, my eyes started to water when they said "welcome home" to us in May. It's just so magical there.

The Grand Floridian will always be my favorite. It was the first resort I ever stayed at and we only stayed there until we got DVC. Once a year we make it a point to go back and stay at the GF.

Mine would have to be the Grand Floridian. I went on my honeymoon in May, and had booked a room at CSR. Long story short, my travel agent didn't book the room I requested, and CSR didn't have any left, so the room they gave us was a Theme park view on the lagoon at the GF. This was my DW first time, my 5th. I'll never forget the look on her face as the taxi pulled into the GF. Her jaw dropped, and she looked over at me with amazement. She loved it so much we're already planning our next two trips in 2013 and 2014.

I love it!! To this day, whenever he hears the Tapestry of Dreams song, he yells .. "MOM!! Listen!!!!" LOL I created a disney monster!! LOL

Your not the only one. My mom created a monster out of me also. Its our special place, to get away from everything. Its not only because of the rides. Its the atmosphere and everyone is just so friendly. I remember ever since i was roughly 4 being in the parks with her. And my first roler coaster was space at the age of 3 :)

Ohh and grand Floridian is my fav even though i have never stayed there. Don't think i ever will be able to afford it though. Just sitting down having a tea or coffee or just a beer inside taking in the atmosphere is breathtaking.

Mine is a more generic response, because I have trouble picking a favorite resort (and one thing-sorry!). For each resort, the things that resonate with each are:
  • The awesome theming-you go to a different world
  • The smell-each resort has such unique smells-heck even the bathrooms "usually" smell good. I have to purchase the Fleur de Sel soap and lotion from Williams-Sonoma-smells like Beach Club-Disney is missing an opportunity to bottle and sell the "Smells of Disney" aromatherapy sets!
  • Being Welcomed Home. I tear up every time.
  • Finding all the small unique details that are put into each resort.

I can't wait til I have enough resort stays so I can really respond properly to this threado_O Right now I am wondering if I will love the BC over the AKL or vice versa since I split our stay between those two resorts...and I am already itching to start vacation surfing on the wdw website for places to stay in Oct when I go back for the foodie thing..:)

My personal favorite is the Grand Floridian. I LOVE the ambience of that property but the main reason it holds such a special place in my heart is because I was married there! And we also have the memory of spending our 15th wedding anniversary there with our boys. It's beautiful and holds very special memories for me. :)

The poly, the sounds, smells and lush vegetation really transport you to another place. I could just vacation in the resort for a couple of days if the magic kingdom wasn't across the lake.
