Last couple of trips we've stayed at POR, so we would check in, then take the boat to DTD, grab some lunch or dinner and shop around. Head back by 9 p.m. so we could get some zzzz's for an early start. We have the DSs shower at night and then get a 6 a.m. wakeup call, I'd shower, get my DH up, he'd start showering, then the DSs get up and I would go grab coffee/tea and by 6:45 we'd be heading to the bus pickup for whatever park had early entry that day. We'd do that for 2-3 days, take a day off, and then start all over again. The day off, we'd sleep in, then i would do laundry, we'd either go back to DTD or hop in the car and hit some shopping outlets. It was really fun when the DSs were little and we'd go for two weeks and also do the water parks --- now we just go for one week at Christmastime, so our time is limited.

Our routine includes flying down and taking Magical Express. Then we head to Magic Kingdom since that is always our first park to visit on each trip. We usually head out to the parks around 9-10 each morning. We're not there for rope drop, but we're there shortly after. Usually I like to stay in the parks all day while my family will take a break usually in the late afternoon.

Get early flight out heading for MCO.
We will do one of three choices (Rent car, Town Car Service, Magical Express) Most times it is Town car and occasionally a rental car if prices are within budget.
Stop @ the store and pick up water, wine and some food for the next 2 weeks and head to the resort.
Between 10:00 AM and 12:00 noon we check in and go to room to unload, unpack and get our park attire on.
Then head out to Epcot which has become a tradition being our favorite park.
Always have a TS reservation somewhere in WS so we can finally relax and have a meal.
After dinner we may have a cocktail, but typically go back to room to get some needed sleep.

Arrival Day: Check in, find room, unpack, then either go to park/DTD/food court

Normal Days (Full Vacation days): Wake up, shower, brush teeth, put deodorant on, grab a drink before we hit the road, drive/bus to park, hit rope drop, do park stuff, then either go back to hotel/DTD/other resort, we then will either go back to a park/DTD/stay at resort depending on what we did in the previous step.

Departure day (the saddest day of the year): Wake up, shower, brush teeth, put deodorant on, pack car/go to park/chill at resort depending on when we're leaving, drive, stop in hotel for night on way home/continue driving, arrive home after 21 hours in the car

- Arrival day is typically a rest day.
- Buy an autograph book and pen before going to the parks, usually the first day. (Yes, I have three myself but there's just something cool about buying a fresh new autograph book. It would lose the appeal of bringing an already signed book to Disney World although I have been told there are creative ways to get characters to signs stuff beside them like signing shirts and such.)
- Get up early to beat the crowds for every theme park visit. (I don't exactly plan to arrive before the rope drop but do arrive early enough to be in the park before the crowds file in, which is about after an hour or two after the park opens.)
- Go to Downtown Disney at night but not too late. (It always seem more vibrant at night but I would like to see Downtown Disney in the daylight just to see what it's like.)
- Usually in the MK, it's typically rides in the morning, character meet and greets and Fastpass rides in the afternoon, R&R at night and Wishes to top it
off.
- In Epcot, it's always Future World stuff first in the morning, then World Showcase in the afternoon.
- In Hollywood Studios, Star Tours is always the first ride of the day, then it just depends on what I want to do at the moment.
- In Animal Kingdom, Kilimanjaro Safaris is always the first ride to do, then it's just a mystery and depends on what I want to do.

I am a morning person so I wake up at 5:30-6am every day of the trip. Head down to the food court for my coffee and Mickey Waffle (strawberries on the side) back to the room to drop off mugs and to the bus stop we go. Hit up which ever park we go to that given day for rope drop, and tour the park until midday! Back to the room to nap or swim and shower then head back to the parks for dinner and more fun!!

Our schedule is different on each trip. The only thing we do that could be considered routine is our arrival day we "move in" to our room. We unpack and get the room all set up. (One reason why I don't ever see us doing a split stay.)

I do have a friend who used to do the same routine every time. Same route through the parks, same rides, same restaurants and even the same foods. I never understood that, at all. Boy were they upset and mad when Disney started changing the menus for more healthier fare. But I think it's because of them that I don't ever WANT to get in a routine. A different schedule for each trip and ALWAYS new restaurants to try. WDW has so much to offer why on earth would I want to limit our experience?

We try to leave the house @1:00 a.m. and arrive at WDW @ 10-11 a.m. After getting in our room, or set up our rv, we head to the MK till @ 6 p.m. The MK is our first and last park before coming home.

Our routine:

- THE YEAR LEADING UP: Book all arrangements, buy tickets, make ADRS at 180 days, etc. Make a rough itinerary plan. (*We'll have to add "make Fastpass+ reservations" to this list when it comes online.) Check-in to the resort online.

- ONE WEEK AHEAD: Make packing lists for each family member (simply revise as needed, from previous trip). Shop for any extras (e.g., breakfast foods, sunblock) that are needed. Air out the luggage. Arrange for pet care and mail pick-up while we're gone. Do laundry. Refill prescriptions. Return library books/videos. Consult weather reports, park schedules, lists of ride closures and crowd calendars, and finalize our general touring itinerary. Print it out on 4"x6" cards, along with important phone numbers and ADR confirmation numbers, to keep with me in my park bag.

- ONE DAY AHEAD: Stock up pets with food and water. Empty all garbage cans, water the plants. Charge cell phones and pack chargers. Pack all bags, carryons, purses, etc. and put it all in the car. Lay out travel clothes. Check in for flights online, and print boarding passes. Gas up the car, if needed, for the trip to the airport.

VACATION:
- TRAVEL DAY: Get up bright and early to head to the airport. Fly direct to Orlando from Rochester or Syracuse, generally arriving between 11am and 2pm. Take Magical Express to our resort. Check in, unpack (we carry on, so we don't have to wait for any luggage to be delivered), and head to the Magic Kingdom for the remainder of the day. If we arrive around lunchtime, we like to stop and have lunch at Casey's, and possibly catch a parade going by.
- TOURING DAYS: Visit at least one park each day, ending with a full day or more in the Magic Kingdom (and staying up for the fireworks on the last day). Take at least a half day off, in the middle, to swim, relax, and play around at the resort. Plan for breakfast in the room, with an average of one counter service and one table service meal per day, and with at least one of the table service meals being a "special meal" near the end of the trip (e.g., signature restaurant or dinner show). With the exception of arrival and departure days, head back to the room for naps every afternoon after lunch, returning to the parks around 4pm.
- DEPARTURE DAY: Pack our bags and leave them with bell services, and check out. Spend a couple of hours in the Magic Kingdom or Epcot, revisiting everyone's favorite attraction or two. Head back to resort to catch Magical Express bus to the airport. Fly home on a direct flight, ideally departing mid-afternoon.

Our only routine is after check in we head right to MK. MK is always the first park we hit. As for any routine from there, we usually start at Frontierland and work our way around to Tommorowland. Now that we have our kids, we have been taking a mid day break at the hotel and then its off to another park til closing.

WelFedDave, I don't think your crazy. We have booked our flights the same way on our last two trips and we found that it worked great for us. Plus we are anxious to get there and not so anxious to leave.
