What is your best memory?

My favorite memory was defiantly watching Fantasmic for the first time. That has to be my favorite attraction anywhere. It's so beautiful, amazing, and flashy. I cried at the end, it was indeed Disney magic!

My special moment didnt happen at WDW but because of it. I remeberthe first time we went to disney when i was six, on our very first day knowing i was going to meet minnie...my all time favourite herione (i literally forced my parents to name our cat minnie). At six i was so excited i put on a red polka dot skirt as a tribute.
I remember being at the gates at about 7 or some other ungodly hour and being literally the first people in. up against the gates i remember my dad making an action plan. My dad and my brother (who was 8) were going to race to get on space mountain first and mum was taking me straight to minnie.
Anyay i have many wonderful photographs and memories of no one else turning up for a good half an hour and being able to spend some quality time with minnie and my mum. (and minnie just loved my skirt).
A year ago one week before we went to disney again ( a hugely anticipated trip as it was the last time we can go away as family as my brother has now started university) i had just finished my exams and my mum and i were cleaning out the loft and giving practically everything to charity shops. Anyway to put a loooong story short we found the skirt and it just reminded me how much i loved my mum and i know it reminded her that aswell. She said to me "just NO" and out it in the "to keeps" box. Its just such a soecial memory as ive grown up in disney and it just represents how my mum and i`s relationship has evolved.

I have to say you made me cry. I just has the same type of thing happen. My mom and I made matching Mickey shorts and shirts for my boys for our trip. She taught me how to sew, helped get me a machine and we painted the shirts together. Getting ready to move here this summer and was going to give away things to Goodwill and I found the outfits. I cried for hours. We made these the year before she died. Needless to say, the outfits are in a box of other stuff to keep. Sure hope my husband never opens these boxes and finds all the sentimental stuff in them.

My best memory is selfish but. . . Recently I got to spend the entire day at Epcot with someone I love very much. He loves Disney as much as I do (which is a scary amount) and his favorite park is Epcot. I got to see the park through his eyes. We spent the whole day just walking around holding hands and exploring. We ate lunch in Japan and then shared a romantic dinner in Norway. Then we finished the night in each others arms watching Illuminations. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect way to spend time with the man that I love. Seeing what he loves about the park makes it so special to me. Now every time I go I will always think of him and how much he means to me.

Wow, my thanks to all who have posted. Your memories have brought back so many wonderful times with my family.

I have to give a couple of em here

1. Riding in the front of the monorail with my gf, best friend and brother while my sis in law was in the bathroom so she had to ride in the back with the parents. We video taped the whole thing while we were singing dumb songs like the Brady Bunch with the driver and having him make fun of my sis in law for not getting to be up front.

2. Going into all of the shops with my mom and hearing her say "OOOHHH look at that" about a million times.

3.Getting our family picture taking on the bridge by tomorrowland with the castle behind us every year.

i remember going when i was 9 (im 22 now!) and splashing around the outside "Creek" at Typhoon Lagoon. That was and still is such a cool place there is NOTHING like that in England just the same old swimming pool. And i was scared that my brother and dad would get attacked by sharks at that shark lagoon (although i aim to do it myself this time!). Ha, good times

I also remember seeing the parade and having to sit on paper so i didn't burn my bum cause it was about 105 degrees F. And i remember sitting eating my first Peanut Butter and Jam (Jelly) sandwich and watching a paddle steamer go past.

I remember going on the Big Thunder Mountain and thinking how much better than one back home! I remember my mum crying at Epcot because the ride inside the golf ball (can't think of the name but you know the one!) ends by going down backwards and she was scared!

And i remember being completly amazed and immersed in both Star Tours and Body Wars (both new then!). The 360 degree cinema and wow, the Micheal Jackson 3D show (btw is that still around?)

Can't wait to go back again this year and experience it again with my girlfriend, i have tingles on my body already and its 380 days to go! I will take off my stiff upper lip and don my Disney cap and go crazy!

Hope thats enough memories for ya!

My best memory was this past January when my wife and I had the opportunity to SCUBA dive in The Living Seas. We held hands while diving and loved seeing the reaction of the dry guests observing us (especially the children). Best thing was we were honorary Disney cast members during the dive (no pay though  ). In fact we loved the dive so much, we are doing it again over Thanksgiving weekend!

Apart from being proposed to at the Adventurers Club, my most special memory has to be the first evening at WDW. I had always wanted to go to WDW but my husband said, "lets wait until our kids are old enough". I don't even particularly want kids!!! So after we were divorced I had just inheirited some money and took my new boyfriend to the Boardwalk as a once in a lifetime kind of holiday. The night we arrived I remember standing on the BW looking out over Crescent Lake and thinking I can't believe I am here at last. A love affair was born!!

BTW it is the same new boyfriend that proposed at the AC!!

Our last trip. We had planned and planned and planned our trip for months, and were FINALLY going to stay at a Deluxe resort-AKL. We were so excited. I think we had the best WDW vacation ever this past summer. We had too much fun there...

1. Walking into the resort, checking in, being upgraded to a Savannah View Deluxe Room.

2. The 8 trips it took to get all of our luggage up to the room.

3. Sitting out on the balcony every morning and watching the Ankole Cattle and listening to the "Wee-Kee-Kee" bird.

4. Trying our hardest to communicate with the birds!!! My mom, "Hello!"

5. Afternoons by the pool with tomatoes and pickles.

6. Our Boma adventure and our friendly waiter from Morocco.

7. Elephant and Duck shapped towels and French Vanilla room spray.

8. Nightly walks around the resort...taking it all in.

9. The "Weeka-Weeka" sound when someone got valet.

10. Touching the door on the way out.

4. The smell of WDW

I have many but will try to pick only a few.

When I was a child we went every year from 73 to 83. From those memories I will still with 3 though their are others.

1) We were in the Magic Kingdom the night the Pirates opened. At the time you used tickets for the rides. But because it just opened they let you in for free. I don't remember how my parents found out, maybe a cast member told them. Anyway because of the way the entrance is to the ride nobody knew where it was. We rode it like 6 or 7 times with no lines, just running right back on.

2) The first time we stayed in the park, 1974 at the Polynesian (we loved the slide).

3) Lunch at the Crystal Palace

Then my parents seperated and we stopped going.

I was married in 1993 and my wife and I went on our honeymoon to WDW and stayed at Port Orleans. We arived at about 12:30 at night. The moment we went through the gates to the "World" is my next best memory. I was back where I loved.

We have been back 4 times in the past 10 years. We start next year giving our daughter her first taste of WDW. I hope I can take her as much as my parents took me.

My forever best memory will be the first ime we carried our son to WDW. He was 4 1/2 and just taking in everything.
One night we were watching SpectroMagic from the hub in front of the castle. (I've got some great video of him leaning against his Mom as the floats lit his face.) Anyway, after the parade, we were watching the fireworks and I was holding him in my arms. He looked at me and said, "Oh, Daddy, I wish I could live here forever! That was in 1997 during the 25th celebration, and even though we go back every 18 months, that is still my favorite memory of WDW.

I posted earlier but thought of a few others on my way home.

As a child:

1) Riding in the front of the monorail (the best part was if you were in the front and leave the contemporary and shoot out into the sky) very cool.

2) Another monorail one. Just being in the monorail waiting for it to take off and hearing the cast members coming along and slamming the doors. I miss the old monorails.

As an adult:

A few years ago (1995 I think), we were on-line for the Haunted Mansion and it was dusk and drizzling. The line was long, way out towards the mainflow in Liberty Square. There were people everywhere. And I don't know how it started, but when the wherewolf would howl, every kid in the crowd (hundreds of kids) would howl along with it. Very neat scene!

We just went to Disney this August. We took our sons for the first time ages 12 and 8 . My oldest son has Asbergers Syndrome (a mild form of autism). And is ADHD. So all the way from the airport to Disney. Are we in Disney yet ? Easy once every 5 seconds. I said look Nick. The gate to Disney is comeing up !! The look on his face. I will never forget he said one word...Wow.
He has all four maps taped to his wall and home and says I miss Disney... and I say so do I.

I love those certificates they get. My son has a certificate from the 25th Anniversary for being a performer on the Boardwalk one day. He has it in a frame on his wall. He says he is proud of working for Disney that day. :)

I used to give those certificates to the "Family of the Day" in Epcot after they spent some time with me touring the Mexican Pavillion and having some churros at the Cantina.

One day however, Donald Duck decided to grab a kid with him and get on the boatride with me too -I was on the ambassador role that day, not working inside the pavillion-, when the ride was over, another cm comes and gives one of those certificates to.............DONALD! DUH! I wanted to kill her....

Memories...

1) 1993, my first trip to Disney- Took the boat from Fort Wilderness to MK. It started raining just when my family and I were walking up to the gates. That was my first taste of Florida weather:animwink: But I was not going to let that ruin my day, I put on a poncho and kept right on, it was one of the most exciting moments of my life. I have a picture to capture it and I looked as happy as I felt at that moment. Moments later, I saw the breathtaking view of the castle, enjoyed Space Mountain 3 times in a row and started a love affair with anything Disney.

2) January 2003, at Chef Mickeys breakfast, I got the biggest surprise of my life when my boyfriend proposed to me, and got the whole side of the restaurant involved in the moment. I was amazed, embarassed, and in awe. Mickey Mouse was right there to hug and congratulate us.

3) December 2001, my boyfriend and I landed in FL and were so excited to witness 100 years of Magic. We went to MK that afternoon to catch the Share a Dream Come True Parade, and I had tears running down my cheeks. I was so happy to be there at that moment. It is my most favorite parade.

It is the memories that last and live on in your heart...

I forgot to put my best memory:

My best time in Disney was working there from September 98 to December 99. One of my fondest memories from that time, was working and touring the parks with my then bf and living with my friends from all around the world. Watching Illuminations 2000 RoE on openning night with him until we both teared with it, and kissing each other for the first time in front of the Fountain of Nations.
I doubt I will ever kiss someone else for the first time in front of that fountain, so that was truly magical and something that will hardly repeat. :animwink:
