what is the highest amount of money you'd pay to go on a Disney vacation???

Normally when my family goes on a Disney vacation, we stay offsite which saves us a few thousand dollars.. In fact. I've never stayed onsite because of this. On top of that, hardly ever eat inside the parks. Unless it's a rare occasional perk. We used to get annual passes when they were affordable to us. Now it's base tickets (no park hoppers).

Soooo normally we cap our limit off at about $800 or $900. Because middle class theatre family on a budget! (: HOWEVER.. This is only because we would go ALL THE TIME. and wanted to keep coming back. So that was the way to do it.

I'm taking 4 friends on a senior trip there mid July.. And I made sure that I'm getting the full Disney experience. So I got the free counter service vacation package. Which includes rooms, tickets, and one counter service meal per day. July 17 - 22. 4 park days (no park hopper). Each of my friends put in $500. So my parents are a fully paying $1,750.50 for the package deal. But our actual total bill was $3,750.50. This does not include the dinner reservations my dad is paying for us, breakfast, or gas money.

Also for those interested, we're staying at the Art of animation resort. There are 5 of us so we're getting a family suite.

So.. To do a Disney vacation RIGHT.. Which means staying onsite, and having legit dining reservations and all that.. From upstate South Carolina, it's going to be about a $4,500 trip. Without things like memory maker, park hoppers, water parks, or hardly any perks outside of a free game of mini golfing (which is still pretty awesome.)

So ! What is your limit? Do you do your vacations in legit all-out Disney mode? Or are you more on a budget?

There is no such thing as a Disney trip that is "right" or "legit." Everyone's style of travel and approach to the parks and dining, and budget, is different.

What I mean by that is more like.. How do I put it... A "stereotypical" Disney vacation. Stay on site + eat on site + one day at each park.

It can range so much. Even comparing on property stays- and even beyond that- at different room types within a resort. Also depends on how many "extras" a family does. A theme park view room, pirate adventure cruise, water sports, dining seating packages are important to me. But a club level room, fireworks cruise or Wishes desert party is not.

Two families of the same size can go to WDW stay on property and go to the same parks.

One could spend $3k, one could spend $10k.

I think an "average" would be around $5k.

Well all of that is beside the point and not the actual purpose of the topic at hand anyways.. Really just asking what people on here normally pay as a whole for their disney vacations.

Sorry, I quoted what I think an average would be, based on what myself, and the people I know pay. And why there can be such a vast different between one family to another.

I hope you get the exact answer you are searching for.

Have a fabulous trip!!! :)

Almost always went for 7 nts. and I almost always kept the price under 1500. Now it's even less. We usually wait until airline tics are under 150 each RT. We used to get a package with Park hoppers, but then it started to be shorter pkg with no park hopper. A couple trips ago, it became room discount and got cheaper tics at Undercover Tourist. Our last trip consisted of room only discount, which was around 700, I think, for 7 nights; no park tickets, airfare for 106 each RT-(nice) 1 day rental car 30.00 to go to the grocer and buy food and beer for the week. We actually really enjoyed this last trip, as we still had transportation to/from the airport, buses to go to boardwalk, disney springs, resorts, etc. From the top floor of our bldg at POP, we could watch Epcot fireworks in one direction and HS fireworks in another, and not have to fight for a bus back to resort.

So you didn't book directly with Disney???

We have aways stayed on site. Its been moderate or deluxe resorts. Most trips have been for 14 days, with park hopper passes. We visit each park multiple times, and visit DS two or three times in a trip. We try doing something off site as well to add to our FL time. And I always add something extra into the trip to surprise DW. Some times we've gotten DDP, other times QS plan, and other times paid out of pocket for meals. We've flown most trips but the last two we've driven to WDW.
I've never looked at my Disney trip as a limit I'd pay, or having a certain cost level that would stop me from going. I save until I make the total budget I want to get to, then I book the trip I want. Some years I've been more extravagant and free spending than others. But I get what I want because I budgeted for it. I work hard, save well, spend smart and dont get in over my head with spending more than I can afford.

For our family, it has gotten tremendously cheaper ever since we discovered the multi-day ticket and park hopper option during one of our most recent trips. When you travel with a family of 5, using a one-day one-park base ticket every time you enter a park can add up the overall costs in a hurry! I can't remember exactly what we've spent during many of our past vacations, but I'm sure it's not pretty.

Lol no. That's why I had such a broad range.

The 5K I'm figuring 7 nights room, dining plan, tickets, room service/out of pocket for supplemental meals, "extras" i.e. BBB or pirate stuff/water sports/dinner show, Memory Maker, souvenirs.

Maybe I'm totally off base with what I think the average is.

Ok is now I'm curious so I googled it, this is comparing WDW vs DL, but it's pretty interesting. Of course it's only one source. Would be kind of neat to actually know what the week stay average is.

That's pretty darn accurate if you look at my description of my group of 5 for a 5 night, 4 theme park days stay at WDWgr

We pay about £6000 ($8550) for 4 return flights, 14 nights at a Disney Value resort and 4 14 day park tickets for WDW and Universal and that's BEFORE including meals, souvenirs, snacks, new clothes, Visa waivers, travel essentials and so on. So if I was to estimate the end cost including everything, I'd have to say an Orlando vacation costs us about £8000 ($11,500) all in. You Americans don't know how good you've got it :(

Was the $800-$900 when you had Ap? If so, how many nights? How many peeps? $900 is cheap for even a couple of peeps with offsite room and board + food...

Almost always went for 7 nts. and I almost always kept the price under 1500. Now it's even less. We usually wait until airline tics are under 150 each RT. How did you do 7 nights for $1,500? After the $700 room only discount, that left $800 for 6/7 days of everything else? The Undercover Tourist price tics are a small discount, but for 2 peeps at 6 days, the price still would have been over $1,000 (even back a few years ago).....
