What is ToT's Looking Glass?

The "looking glass" is the effect on DCA's Tower that took the place of the 5th Dimension.
Basically, it's very similar to the heat imaging technology used at the end of Test Track.
No big deal.

It's very cool and would be nearly impossible to take photos of to give you a really good idea of what it is, but maybe some one has some video to share?

It is not the same heat imaging as test track but it is that type of tech. It is a great effect and it seems to go over well with the people who listen to the spiel and wave to see that it is really them doing the moving. You can get a pic of it as long as you don't have a flash next time I go on with my camera I will see what I can do.

I went on wednesday for the first time and that thing freaked me out, two things surprised me:

1.How small the lobby is

2.How soon the drop comes (i was holding on for dear life the whole ride, and was taken by surprise at the drop-i was expecting the 5th dimension!)

I saw it on video and I think it is a great effect.

Basically you arrive in front of a mirror attached on a corridor wall and see the reflection of your elevator with the people in it.
Suddenly your reflection turns into a "ghost-type" image, kinda like the heating effect at Test Track except you are mostly blue and translucid. That's funny because it is the real reflection but everyone looks like a ghost.

Then a thunder flashes, a curtain in the corridor moves with the wind, your elevator shakes briefly and the reflection of the people dissapear with it. All you see now is the reflection of the empty elevator (you have vanished) and the doors close.

I think it is shorter than the Fifth Dimension room, but the effect in itself is much better.

Wow. I had no idea California's ToT was so completely different. That looks wild.

Anyone who's ridden it in person have any opinions? Better/worse than MGM's (which is tough to beat).

It seems most people find it better at MGM, but apparently not truly the ride in itself (despite the fact that they find it too short now that the 5th dimension is gone) as much as the surroundings and the queuline (no lush gardens in DCA, no Sunset Bld...).

DCA's Tower has en equally successfull lobby, library and a better boiler room (on two levels). SFX and sounds are better at DCA too, and I heard the drop sequence is really great.

You'll find many reviews there:

I cannot wait to ride it myself!! :sohappy: (in Paris but before in California, last time I was there it was only being built  )

Pretty accurate...they have really streamlined the motion of the elevator and special effects are far more impressive--the ghosts look really impressive, but MGM's version is slowly being upgraded to include those ghosts, one chamber at a time (one is done).

MGM's is beign upgraded to include which ghosts?

Also, I'd love to see the mirror effect at MGM,... Maybe right before you drop in the main shaft?
