Great!

So now all we need is something to happen ala Tiki Room and maybe they'll actually do something worthwhile to the original Space Mountain.

Don't get me wrong, I like the layout of WDWs better than Hong Kong,Tokyo, or Anaheim's, but it's just sooooo rough and the effects on the ride are a joke.

I truly hope WDW refurbs the ride sometime soon....
yes! I think Orlando's does have a better track but it's by far the most uncomfortable and the effects are so old and the ride sounds broken/older. I understand it's the original but it's just not as updated compared to it's counterparts. I hope WDW refurbs their version for the 50th hopefully.

Is this really a question???

Jules Verne, please. Paris has the best themed Space Mountain and is the only true "Disney" experience of the 5. The initial launch makes it a very fun ride. Details, Details, Details......good enough to be inside Disney Sea.

The worst one is, of course, the original in Magic Kingdom....way too damn bumpy and uncomfortable(((aka Matterhorn in space))) and NO ONBOARD SOUND!!!
How anybody can vote for it as the best and be honest about it is beyond comprehension.

We need Bill Mahr to lay down a new rule.
New Rule: if you have no understanding of the candidates, then you are ineligible to vote.
agreed! so many baised Orlando people. Just got off the FL one and yup still the least out of all the versions. It was so damn rough and I feel like if I move a little I will get hit by something lol. @cheezbat I Appreciate you for actaully not being baised and realizing what’s the best version.

Paris

Tokyo
Anaheim
Hong Kong

The one in Paris is a different breed of ride and barely comparable to the other versions. Some prefer it; I, on the other hand, don't like overly intense roller coasters and so find the experience of riding it rather unpleasant (though it does look gorgeous). Of the other Space Mountains, I've ridden only those at DL and WDW and love them both. Yes, DL's is smoother, but WDW's is not uncomfortable for me in the way that it seems to be for others. The thrill level of the American versions is perfect for wusses like me, and both have that delightfully dated '70s vibe about them.

I've never been on Paris but my brain is picking out WDW among the lot as the most memorable. IIRC DL and HK are basically the same and Tokyo is similar but with some minor different effects and no soundtrack.

I seem to recall WDW actually making an effort to include "scenes", although I don't really remember what the track is like.

The MK. The original. The one and only. The others don't even come close. Although DLP as usual has a very interesting alternative take.

- Finest building
- Two rides! Like Toad, magnificent MK gives you two for the price of one
- Best music, best queue
- Vintage feel. DLP and DL are modern-ish coasters in the straightjacket of a 70's coaster footprint
- Post-ride dark ride
- PeopleMover going through
- Best ride. Soaring through space in your own private rocket. What SM was born to be

The one if and but is, in which state do you compare? WDW needs to get rid of the basketball court, the brake, and needs to bring back the sound effects.

Finest building? Yeah it's bigger and more grand than DL, HKDL, or TDL, but it's nowhere near as beautiful as the one built in Paris.

Best music? What music? The quick zips by techno beats that works every few months? It's 'soundtrack' is a joke compared to Disneyland's. Now if you're referring to the music that plays in the queue, that's NOT on the ride, so it doesn't count the same. Best queue...well, I hate all their queues. Space Mountain has such a boring queue line...no matter which version you speak of. Even with the stupid games it's still boring. I wish this would be updated.

Post ride/dark ride: are you referring to the speed ramp at the end? The little scenes are cool, but the green screen thing is hideous.

People mover going through. This one I'll definitely give you. Love that ride.

Everyone does have their different interests though...so I guess it all comes down to what we like.

Exactly!! Orlando is the worst and everyone stop getting so mad about lol. Paris has the best building, not Orlando. The queue is so dark and hot as hell in there with the dumb games to try and pass time. All the queues for Space are bad. Oh and that whole exit “dark ride” isn’t even a thing right now. Instead, you walk from the total outside of the back of the building with a very crappy and not Disney walkway. Ruins the magic! There’s no music on the ride, just random sound effects. It also breaks down the most all the time. Yesterday, it broke down and people how to get off lol. I understand your opinion The empress Lilly. But I agree with Cheezbat. Orlando’s isnt the best

Are we talking ideal state, or currently? Hard to beat Orlando’s in its heyday, and I’m still with Marni on its potential. Agree with others on the Anaheim-style layout being boring, and the curved speed tunnel never quite clicked for me. Paris is interesting as a variant but just doesn’t feel like the platonic ideal to me; the steampunk aesthetic is great but doesn’t fit Space Mountain imo. Plus that, too, has been cannibalized by Star Wars though i’ve not ridden it since.

I personally think the aesthetic in Paris is perfect when the ride is in normal Space Mountain mode. I've always loved the Jules Verne look and fits perfectly in Discoveryland.

Now if only TDO opened up their pockets and splurged on a PROPER full refurb for the original Space Mountain...it could be the best.

On-board audio is overrated in my opinion. When Disneyland added it back in '95, I was not a fan. Still am not a fan to this day. And Disneyland's Space Mtn is now almost always the half-a&$#@ Hyperspace version now. I absolutely love Star Wars, but man is that overlay just done on the cheap and not that good. It was a nice change to be able to do the regular version this past winter, but Disneyland just switched it back to Hyperspace ((SIGH))

I still voted for Orlando's Space Mountain over Anaheim's. And no, I am not biased LOL I grew up in southern California and have been on Disneyland's probably 300 times by now and rode it many times well before I got to ride Disneyworld's. I stated it before, but the biggest reasons I prefer the Magic Kingdom's over Disneyland's is because of the exterior mountain, incredible queue and music, the lack of on-board speakers (hate 'em), the overall scope and size of the mountain and the track layout is more fun and interesting than it is in Anaheim. All of those reasons helped me vote for Orlando on this poll.

I would have probably voted for Paris if I had actually ridden on it. That older Jules Verne version always looked incredible!
I would really like to ride the DL version (regular and Hyperspace), and the Paris one. I’m a big fan of Jules Verne’s works, so I got excited when I saw pictures of the Space Mt. in Paris!

I've read *somewhere* that the tracks in SM Orlando need replacement BADLY due to the age of them, is that right?

I personally don't see it happening with TRON due to open. Maybe once they know the waiting times for TRON, they may schedule a long closure and refub for it.
