Some Magic Kingdom musts:
  • Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Splash Mountain
  • The Haunted Mansion
  • Peter Pan's Flight
  • A picture of the castle (or picture in front of the castle so all Disney nerds can be jealous of your trip)
  • A Churro OR a Mickey Pretzel (or both)
  • Mid-day parade (if you're there early enough)
  • And/or Happily Ever After fireworks (if you're there late enough)

*Going all the way back to 1980, it's traditional to ride Small World first. Don't know why. It's just what we (or I, if I'm alone or with a different crew), always do.
*I always love walking on Main Street, and I always say I'm going to really explore that whole area this trip, and I never, ever do.
*Big Thunder. I usually get on this ride and think, "Meh, this ride is not all that." But by the end of the ride, I'm exhilarated, and this is usually about the time that the weight of the world (which I wasn't even aware I was carrying) magically falls from my shoulders, and I have that perfect Disney World moment of "Wow! I'm actually here. At Disney World. And it's just getting started." I've never been able to replicate that feeling anywhere in the real world.
* I never ride the Speedway, but I always stop to watch the riders and reminisce about my first trip back in 1980. My dad brought us and we rode this together. He couldn't afford that trip, but he's never regretted taking us kids. We were thunderstruck when he told us we were going. He hated the parks, and won't even consider letting me take him today. But he says he has good memories of that 2 days in the Magic Kingdom.
* Carousel of Progress. The magic is strong there.
*TTA People Mover.I love it, and I still don't understand the point of it. It doesn't move you anywhere. Just a big circle. When I dream of WDW, the People Mover carries you wherever you want to go in the Magic Kingdom, and sometimes to the other parks as well.
* The shops in Adventureland. I don't know why, and I hardly ever purchase anything. But again, the magic is strong there.
* Barnstormer. I love it. I'm 52 and I shouldn't. I do not care.
* Popcorn. In the Magic Kingdom. One of life's purest pleasures.
* Liberty Belle and/or Tom Sawyer Island. Just old school Disney fun.
* Columbia Harbour House. Upstairs. Malt Vinegar. Because tradition.
* Look for a parade to avoid. Shorter lines at the rides!
* Swiss Family Treehouse, because it's just so Disney, and the view is spectacular.

I have never been to Crystal Palace. Had a reservation in 2014, but had to cancel for some reason. You guys make it sound awesome, though.

Not every time a MK, but at a restaurant. I have eaten at CRT 3 times. This first time out of necessity, I went to sit in the, uh.... throne room, if you will. So then the next times we ate there I decided to keep up the tradition for some reason. It's not a particularly nice or large room, but it has become a little happy place of sorts for me. I have actually snuck in there once to sit on the royal throne without eating at the restaurant. That was kind of exciting.
