Umm....not sure what the question is....but no....no 5th park is coming to WDW. Not in 14 years, probably not in 24 years.
A waterpark is MUCH more likely.

yes..i think the waterpark idea is more likely because since the absence of the Former River Country I think Disney can start looking at a possible third waterpark plan...I'm saying make this waterpark Disney's biggest waterpark!!!! The best waterpark in the Orlando area...probably not...cause you have Wet "N Wild,Aquatica, etc.

I don't think you will see a 5th park in the next 20 years imo. I don't think a third water park is needed when there is room for expansion of the current ones.

When it comes to new gates I would much rather see DL get it's third gate and a water park, but thats just me:shrug:

There is also room to add more attractions/shows to the current parks. I often read on this board how AK or DHS is only a 1/2 day park. If that's the case (I don't agree BTW), why not just add the attractions/shows that you would put in a new park to the existing parks?

Exactly pluss the existing parks there is no need for a 5th gate.

Double exactly, you still have plenty of room to add on and make AK get bigger and better. You can still add more countries to Epcot with rides I might add. Also MK is getting a new fantasy land and can always upgrade on current rides, some which need it badly.

Also there is still room for expansion in MK evan after the FL expansion. DHS also has a ton of room for expansion.

Personally I think they shouldnt have built AK was not needed and was built because Lion king was such a hit.I have always felt Eisner saved Disney but AK was one of his mistakes.

5th gate

This should not be a forgone conclusion. We WDW fans SHOULD expect a 5th gate very soon. If you look at it from a master planning/business model POV then we are overdue for a new park at WDW. Let's look at the numbers.

Magic Kingdom - October 1971
EPCOT Center - October 1982 (11 years)
Disney MGM Studios - May 1989 (6.5 years)
Disney's Animal Kingdom - April 1998 (9 years)
Present Wait for 5th Gate - October 2009 (11 years +)

We have been waiting for a new gate longer than at any time in the history of WDW. Is it too late to get a new park ready for the "Two Score" celebration but if they start building/clearing land and put a preview center up for the Droves of people that will be going to WDW for the 40th Anniversary I am positive they will comeback to enjoy the park they saw "Coming Soon".

Now if we could just find some Corporate Sponsorship...Wait a min...The Walt Disney Co. is the worlds largest media conglomerate, Just build the thing already. I don't care what the Design Theme is, I will love it, and I will spend tons of money there...Pinky Promise!

They can't even keep the parks that they have up to usual Disney Park standards why would we need another?

Not only is this a great reason why not to build, but we are also in a recession, and though people are coming to the parks in droves, food and retail revenue is still way down. Not to mention that companies aren't quite rushing out in droves to sponsor attractions right now.

The Most likely thing out of all of those is an expansion to Blizzard Beach of some sort like what is being done to Typhoon Lagoon:confused::confused::confused::zipit:

But that's just YOUR opinion. If WDW has some of the top attendance parks in the world, which they do, then they are obviously going above and beyond. We're just die hard fans who want TDS and DL around every corner.

I would expect another park within the decade. Just not now, and not because it isn't up to Figment632's standards of Disney quality. I'm mainly making this hypothesis because of the horrible economy.

Top attendance doesn't mean anything. If the people aren't getting as high quality of an experience as they once did, they will unlikely return so quickly. Plus all of Disney's short term strategies, like throwing characters everywhere they can, may be working for now, but I honestly believe it will be harder to make this current generation lifelong Disney fans like most of us are. In other words, eventually Disney's mediocrity will come back to bite them you know where.

I'm really mixed on this. I don't think they're quite ready to build another big park yet, and I think they can do a lot more with what they've got. But I can see them adding the future, if nothing else for necessity sake. The question would be, how far in the future? WDW had an estimated growth rate around 3% for the last 10 years. Last years' attendance was 47.13 million for the 4 major parks (not including water parks). If the parks grow at least that much for the next 5 - 10 years, that means we'll see 54.6 million visitors in 2013, and 63.3 million in 2018. An additional 16 million visitors in the parks, is going to make it a lot more crowded.
