:veryconfu :veryconfu :veryconfu Hey people, is there something very important happening on the weekend of Oct. 17. We have especially planned our trip for Oct. because of the "least crowed" attendance record. Funny thing is, there is not an empty resort anywhere on the DW property. We already had reservations for Port Orleans Riverside, thank goodness, but we are very concerned that this is going to hamper our trip. We enjoy going when there are not 5 million people there. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully we will get some answers. Thanks!!

BTW: The WDW reservation girl had no idea what was going on.

According to some earlier threads on this subject, it may have to do with a promotion that Disney is running. Also, some posters seem to think it won't be as crowded as it may seem. Good luck.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is in full swing from the 3rd to the 30th. Maybe that could be part of it.

I spoke to someone at WDW reservations and they said the last two weeks of Oct have conventions going on usually.

That doesn't always affect attendance at the parks does it. Either way I hope they are gone the first week in November 'cause that is when i'll be there.

Isn't that the first weekend of the Food & Wine Festival at Epcot? Also, I think I remember something about a Soap weekend at MGM.

Yes, indeed, you'll be arriving and so will I! :sohappy:

I'm not changing my plans even if there are 10 million other people. You pays your money and you takes your chances. I think it'll be great. Don't worry. :D

Meega, nala kwishta!
Yep a few things going on...

Food and Wine starts that weekend.
MNSSHP is all that month.
A golf turnament starts that week.
The Fairytail package was available durning that time.
And of course Mission:SPACE and Mickey's PhilharMagic both opens (offically) that month.

Lot's of stuff.

Will it be crowded, who know, I hope not. Will it be like a July? Heck no! So have some fun!

This is from WDW Guest Relations when I inquired about the best times to go.

They said these are the trends but that they could change. They don't want you comming back saying I booked at this time because you said it would be empty.

Not sure if you want to read the whole thing, but a midway down it gives the times for least, average and most crowded.

Here is what they sent me:

Thank you for contacting the WALT DISNEY WORLD RESORT!

There is no way to accurately gauge future attendance patterns at any of the
WALT DISNEY WORLD theme parks. While patterns do emerge from past attendance,
new attractions and parks, special celebrations, special events, and the
addition of Disney's Wide World of Sports and other facilities have greatly
altered previous trends.

Actual park attendance figures are privileged information available only to a
very few top level Disney management personnel.

As a general rule weekends tend to be a little less active than are weekdays
although the difference is very slight.

The busiest and most crowded periods at all WALT DISNEY WORLD theme parks are
holiday periods and holiday weekends, with Christmas / New Year week the busiest of all. Other peak periods include the summer months, June through August, when children are out of school and family vacations are planned. Individual
holidays such as Valentine's Day, Easter, July 4th, and Thanksgiving, are also
extremely busy.

_____________________________________________________________________

The listings below offer a very generalized pattern of crowd density at
representative times of year. Accurate trends are difficult to determine,
though, on a property as vast and diverse as the WALT DISNEY WORLD Vacation
Kingdom. A crowded day at the MAGIC KINGDOM Park, for example, does not
necessarily mean long lines at EPCOT or Disney-MGM Studios.

>> Estimates, below, are representative only and are not to be construed
>> as firm
patterns. <<
________________

LEAST CROWDED - means there may be some lines, but by and large most attractions may be visited with minimal waiting;

>> 2nd week of January through 1st week of February
>> Week after Labor Day until end of September
>> Week after Columbus day until Veterans Day weekend
>> Week after Veterans day until Thanksgiving
________________

AVERAGE ATTENDANCE - those times when many people are visiting but the line wait
times are still comfortable

>> 1st week of January
>> 2nd week of February through Presidents' week
>> End of February through the 3rd of week of March
>> 2nd week of April through 1st week of June
>> Last week of August through Labor Day
>> 1st 2 weeks of October
>> Thanksgiving week through December 22
_________________

MOST CROWDED - reflects periods when lines may form in all areas and wait times
of an hour or more may be expected at the most popular attractions.

>> Martin Luther King Weekend
>> Presidents weekend
>> Last week of March and First half of April
>> 2nd week of June through 3rd week of August
>> Columbus Day weekend
>> Veterans Day weekend
>> December 21 through and including New Year's Day

Crowds

Another thing to mention is schools are now taking a fall break as well as a spring break. I have a feeling this is the biggest reason for higher reservations. It is the reason I am going that week because my son is out of school.

>> Columbus Day weekend

I can vouch for that! That's our anaversary, and that day for the last few years, MK was absolutly unbearable. Every thing was 60 min or longer waits. Stay away from MK on Columbus Day weekend.
