I think a Deep Space 9 promonade would make for a nice themed shopping area or post-show area for a Star Trek attraction. :D

Ok so maybe I'm the only one who doesn't know or no one knows? But what is disney doing to fight back about harry potter because I was just at disney this week and it was pretty bare! I also visited harry poter for one day and actually thought the ride was ok, not amazing but ok. The visual affects of the animatronics was lacking something for me but a good ride for universal. Just wondering if anybody knows what disney is gonna do to get there guests back!

You were at WDW this week, the week of July 4 - 10, and WDW, Walt Disney World in Orlando, was 'pretty bare' because a great number of the guests had gone to Universal to see Harry Potter instead??
Do the math on that scenario and figure the wait time at Universal.

You know...I was at MK on July 3rd of last year and it was one of the least crowded days I have ever been to MK. Maybe the recession has something to say about people traveling on holiday weekends???

Or a full-size Starship Enterprise.

Or an original epic non franchise experience on the scale of Pirates or HM but not necessarily a classic dark ride. At least thats what I'd like to see but I can understand the Value that the instant name recognition of a Franchise brings. I just think a from scratch attraction allows the imagineers to do what they do best, create worlds with out the aid/limitation of preconceived notions.

I don't think Disney having it's hands in both the star wars and star trek pots would really be a good idea... my kids already have such trouble seperating the two and it really makes their geek of a mother stressed to have to repeat the differences over and over.

Yup I can't believe people think Potterland is a huge threat to WDW. It will make Uni a boat load of money especially on merchandise but it will hardly affect WDW.

You mean the theme park within a theme park??? I do feel bad for the Guests of Universal looking for the New Harry Potter theme park only to find out that it is 2 rethemed attractions and 1 new one that apparently has a weight limit. I speak to guests on a daily basis, and some have said they do plan on going to Universal 1 day.... 1 day out of a 7 - 10 day Disney vacation is not going to affect Walt Disney World...

Like in Las Vegas until recently?

Well yeah. but by the time I was old enough to start taking trips on my own, I also got into a serious relationship...and by the time I got her comfortable enough with my love of all things Star Trek, the Experience had closed! :(

The relationship has grown leaps and bounds though. She didn't bat an eye when I told her we were going to see the new Star Trek film in IMAX on opening night! If only the Experience could have made it another year or two! :D

What other licensing giants are out there? Star Wars is taken. Harry Potter gone. Superheroes accounted for. I suppose that leaves Star Trek and Lord of the Rings.

I'd welcome either one of those with open arms.

Twilight??? Though not a giant by any stretch of the imagination, this series has become pretty huge and the books are actually gaining i n popularity and they still have two more movies to go. I personally am not a fan, but I have a daughter who is and they are not the typical tween/teen crowd, they are college students. I have been tempted to read one but have not succumbed yet. (Way to wrapped up in D magic!) I couldn't see WDW with it but it looks like Uni might be open to it. They already have the horror show and the phsycho house. Maybe they will end up being a ghoul park LOL

Haha I don't have the time or the patience for a Galactic Empire v. United Federation of Planets battle.

Be thankful that your daughters are college students and NOT the tween crowd that loves the series. They're overtly sexual. And apparently, a growing trend among high school kids is "neck biting," vampire-style.

Think for yourselfer
Twilight is a Lowlight of our society at the moment. The writing is horrendous, the movies are horrendous. The idea of young girls reading these books and this being their intro to literature is stomach turning. I would seriously doubt Disney would touch that property.

Honestly, I could care less about Harry Potter to me it's just as equal to Twilight both don't appeal to me at all.

But I do wish that the Simpsons would have come over to WDW that and the Super Heroes would be the only reason I would go to Universal Studios.
