What is a Lock-Off Room

I am not a DVC member but am thinking about getting a two bedroom at BCV or OKW and was wondering how the lock-off room works. Does this mean they are connecting by a inside door? Is it better to get a dedicated or a lock-off? Will they tell me what I am getting when I make the reservation? Do you know if they give AAA rates for two bedrooms villas?? And lastly, since I am not a DVC member and will be paying a crazy per night fee does that at least get me mousekeeping everyday?? Or is it only on the fourth day. Thanks so much in advance for your help.

A lock off room is basically a studio and one bedroom that are connected by an inner door. You can shut that door or have it open to have a 2 bedroom. I believe that dedicated 2 bedrooms usually go to dvc members first. When we stayed in a 2 bedroom before we were members, we got a lock off room.
I don't know if they can tell you at time of reservation which room you will get or not.

As far as mousekeeping goes, if you are not a member and are staying using cash, not rented points, you will get mousekeeping everyday without paying for it like members have to.

First of all "look out"! Once you stay there you will most likely be hooked!

The difference between a lock-off and a dedicated is this: a lock-off is a one bedroom and a studio with a door in between and each side has it's own entrance into the room from the hall. A dedicated room is one entrance. In a lock-off you also have a kitchenette in the studio room. There is a queen size bed and pull out couch in the studio section. In the dedicated, you lose the kitchenette, but gain 2 queen size beds instead of the pull out couch. You would need to ask for a dedicated room at time of reservation if you want one.

I believe since you are paying cash you get mousekeeping everyday.

DVC Lock-Off

The lock-off is a 1 bedroom and a studio separated by a door. Both have their own private entrances. Consider it just like adjoining rooms. When you make your reservation tell the reservation agent exactly what type you want (dedicated or lock-off). I know as a DVC member when I reserve I tell them that I want the lock-off and that is the reservation I will get.

As far as mousekeeping. If you pay cash for your reservation you will have daily mousekeeping. DVC members staying on points only receive this on the 4th day.

Hope this helps.

I know that it doesn't matter to your situation, but DVC members also receive mousekeeping services on their 8th day.:animwink:

Actually, on a stay of 8 or more nights, you'll receive full housekeeping services on the 4th day, and trash/towel service on the 8th day.
