Wasn’t there a concept by ideal buildout that had a South American land located where Dinoland is? I didn’t think this would happen irl
In his original 2016 built. I think he also had a carousel there too.Wasn’t there a concept by ideal buildout that had a South American land located where Dinoland is? I didn’t think this would happen irl
Well, that makes two of us!This guy totally forgot about D23 this year.
Is this proof that @D Hulk is responsible for the Meet n Greet?View attachment 741975
(Also, got to love how they're updating Test Track again while Imagination and Seas are falling apart at the seams)
I'm betting that, due to the Tropical Americas theme, it will be a clone of Tokyo's!I’m really going to miss Dinosaur. Are we betting that WDW gets an Indy clone??
Hey, Carnotaurus was discovered in South America, so that could work! I, for one, would like to see an attraction exploring Ancient Aztec mythical beings that can easily be changed from dinosaur animatronics, like Quetzalcoatl, Cipactli, Xuihcoatl, Tlatecuhtli, and Mimixcoa. For Indy, my only hope is that they make it mostly a clone of IJA but at least keep the Carnotaurus in as a surprise. Dial of Destiny already blew the lid open for time travel within the Indy universe and that is the one element I think everyone can agree worked really well for Indy's character, so I'd really like to see them lean into it and the dinosaur theme is right there. It'd truly be a shame to loose all those awesome dinosaur AAs. I know they've been a pain to maintain over the years, but that attraction doesn't get nearly enough credit for being one of Disney's first attempts at HUGE scale AA creatures with fluid movement.
I would hope that it’s at least primarily based on Tokyo’s. The facade in the concept art very much resembles the DisneySea one, so that’s encouraging!I'm betting that, due to the Tropical Americas theme, it will be a clone of Tokyo's!
Honestly , as long as Blood On The Saddle stays I’m ok with the new Country Bears… and I think Disney World a huge load of the D23 Expo announcements… I’d love to see an update on the play pavilionAlright, here's my overall hot takes for those who didn't watch the podcast. Generally speaking I'm a lot more positive on the announcements than most people and think it's kind of insane to say that this was worse than last year's. NOTHING was worse than last year's. Last year was basically Disney's version of Nintendo debuting "Wii Music" as their big announcement during that one E3
Here's some of my highlight takes
Honestly I'm just happy the Country Bears are sticking around at all considering there was a lot of worry that they were going to get straight up removed. They're absolutely ESSENTIAL to the Magic Kingdom's ecosystem of attractions and it would be a huge tragedy if the full show were to just close. THat being said I'm of two minds with the "country music covers of Disney songs" thing.
On one hand, they could go deep cut and make it an America Sings style celebration of Disney's country music throughout the years and really pull songs like "A Cowboy Needs a Horse", "Little Patch of Heaven Way Out West", "Our Town" etc that while not at the forefront of people's minds would definitely fit a Country Bear show really well. I strongly think they should keep Davy Crockett and at least one original CBJ song, preferably "The Great Outdoors" for it's Disneyland Fun sing along nostalgia.
On the other hand, this could very easily turn into YET ANOTHER "showcase of songs from Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, Aladdin, Moana, Encanto, Frozen, and literally NOTHING else" because lord knows Disney loves over-exposing those soundtracks and putting them into any corner a parade/fireworks show they can think of. I really, REALLY hope this isn't the case because if this new show just feels like Disney trying to prop up its most popular IP that's going to be a huge bummer.
Test Track World of Motion is a HUGE win! Is it a bummer that we still don't have a Journey into Imagination announcement? Absolutely. The fact of the matter is though, TRON made Test Track 2.0 painfully irrelevant to the grand scheme of attractions and I'm stoked that Disney's so willing to lean into the EPCOT Center history with this one. It's not like World of Motion is the biggest fan favorite attraction in old EPCOT either, so this very much speaks to me like a "for the fans" kind of move. Of course we'll see how they pull off the actual execution, but I don't think you can get much more bland than the "TRON but not TRON but still kind of TRON" vibes.
Just a minor nitpick, but what the hell is taking Journey to Water so long to open??? It's ready to go, fully open for CM previews, and they're still making people wait a whole month? I don't know, just doesn't look great with the current optics of Disney taking forever to construct anything.
I actually really like the idea of a Tropics of the Americas land for Animal Kingdom. As I said on the podcast, I think it's a super refreshing change of pace to see them going away from the singular IP land design. I think Universal excels in that department but Disney for me has always thrived in creating original environments that their IPs can thematically be put into. Just the fact that they're willing to cross pollinate Indy and Encanto is definitely exciting. The potential for actual live animal stuff in this area also goes up ten fold especially when you consider the other South America set Disney movies like Up and Emperor's New Groove that could potentially do very well as smaller animal exhibits.
So overall none of this stuff is an Epic Universe killer by any means, but it at least tells me that Disney is trying to think slightly outside of the box and not just instantly go to "slap the most popular IP onto something and call it a day" like pretty much everything from last year's parks panel felt like. I would say with cautious optimism this is a step in the right direction. We definitely need a leadership overhaul so we can get that big LEAP forward and truly start competing with Universal again, but I'll gladly take the step.
It will probably be your favorite land at any park.Currently hyping myself up for the South America area of DAK by listening to the Encanto soundtrack for the first time since early 2022! I've listened three times at this point!
My theories:
Encanto will focus mostly on Isabela, Pepa, and Antonio, as their powers are the most connected with the natural world and the environment.
Indiana Jones will be exploring a temple devoted to either The Feathered Serpent, Quetzalcoatl, or to Xolotl, an Aztec god of fire and death who takes the form of the Mexican Hairless Dog, which is also Dante from Coco’s breed!
The eatery and Indiana Jones will be Mexican/Central America themed while Encanto and the carousel looking thing will be South America themed.
The trail will be located near Indiana Jones and will have a ruins theme.
Will probably be an equal to Lost River Delta at Tokyo Disney Sea and Mexico Pavilion! It will probably be your favorite land at any park.
