What happens if you break an ADR?

Just worried about booking a table and then, for whatever reason (eg my baby throwing the plan out the window, as children do so well) it not being convenient to keep the booking. Not planning on not keeping ADRs but I'd like to know what the cancelation policy is, or any penalties involved? X

It will depend on the reservation. Many of the restaurants now require a credit card guarantee. For those reservations you will be charged $10 per person for a no show without canceling 24 hours in advance.

There are also prepaid meals like Hoop De Do, Aloha and Cinderella's Royal table that you will still be charged the full price for a no show.

There is no penalty for a no show at a restaurant that does not require prepayment of a credit card guarantee.

Yes..The penalties for UK travellers can be severe...If your from Ireland then the curse of the Leprechaun..If Welsh then it's the curse of the Dragon..If English it's the bite of the Bulldog..And if your Scottish..You are required to get up on stage at Epcot with " Off Kilter " and sing " We're no awa tae bide awa."

It depends on who you talk to. We had an issue in September of 2011. I had scheduled an ADR at CRT for dinner at 7pm and it was supposed to be a 9pm park closing. On short notice, it changed to 8pm and I didn't catch that change. Well, the place was PACKED and it was already 7:15pm before we got into the lobby. Realizing that we would be in there well past closing, I spoke with a manager and told them we needed to cancel. I explained that I knew the policy and was ok with being charged a penalty. She told me not to worry about it and they didn't ding us with a penalty or take away any meal credits.

Wow...how?? why did the reservation change like that?

When did it change? Before you got to WDW or after?

Could it have been a time zone thing when you made your ressie?

Sorry, I meant that the park close time changed. I don't recall seeing it change prior to the 2 weeks before we left.

I bailed on my reservation for Nine Dragons around 2 hours before our ADR, I cancelled via MDE and since no CC was used to make the reservation, no penalty was issued. I'm so glad I did though, I was having an off day and we ended up eating at Via Napoli (walked in and waited around 30 minutes for a table) and that was exactly what I needed.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Last year, we cancelled Sci-Fi Dine In about 3 hours before our ADR because we were able to dine at BOG during its soft opening week. No penalty. No problem.

This year, I didn't even try for BOG, but Sci-Fi is back on our list, this time for lunch for a change.

What he said but I heard they shipped you off to IASW for a 6 hour tour!

Depends on the situation. When one of us has gotten sick (I was sick on the last day of our first visit, and my wife got the flu the last 3 days of our last visit), when we called to called to cancel, even on the day of, any and all fees were waived.

You definitely don't have to call ahead if there was not a credit card guarantee. I tried to change our Sci-Fi ADR one day because of Jedi Training Academy and there were no other times available. I told them I wanted to cancel our ADR, and they said they will just cancel it when we didn't show up. I was trying to be nice and open it up for someone else, but they wouldn't do it for me.

Exact thing happened to me. I had an adr with a credit card linked, but had gotten a stomache bug. I explained the situation to a cast member, and there was no penalty.
