Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
They replaced it with the current beef stew about a month ago give or take. No one knows if it's gone for good or just seasonally etc. :)

Had one when New fantasy land first opened. Was attracted to the smell and bought one. Found them to be delicious but kind of greasy and messy. This may have been a contributing factor to their demise. Also...they might have upset people from other countries or religions who don't eat pork. Not sure, but that may have something to do with it also.

It was a "Todays Special" at the 50's Prime Time back on 12/1... I did not order it, but saw a few go by... Definitely the same thing I got at Gaston's a few years ago...

I don't know about the greasy and nasty being a factor. Turkey legs have a cult like following. I feel like it should be chased with 3-4 Lipitor. I actually enjoyed the shank as a snack though. In addition to meals I graze my way around WDW. I could eat one of those and not miss a beat at dinner. They were a good size.

I tried one on our last trip, and liked it but did not love it. However, I did love the tie-in to the Beauty and the Beast story, so I was sorry to see it go. Hoping that it makes a comeback...although that stew does seem tasty!

That's a shame...they were delicious and a very good value for the money (or credits). Definitely one of the better offerings if you like that sort of thing.

*read in old time radio news voice*

This just in....prepared, ready to eat food at a theme park will be considerably more expensive than unprepared food on sale in a supermarket!

When I was a sophomore in high school, I had the unfortunate experience of having to dissect a fetal pig every other week for the entire year. The smell was so beyond horrid, I'll never forget it. When we walked into Gastons to check it out for the first time, I had to go because I was about one step from vomiting because the pork shank smell was an exact copy of the fetal pig. No idea why but it happened. Glad it's gone.

So cooked and seasoned pork smelled the same as raw dead meat most likely out of formaldehyde? I think perhaps (not trying to be a jerk here) there was some psychosomatic factors here triggered from a memory.

I dissected fetal pigs as well and have had a pork shank. I don't recall there being a similar odor, unless fetal pigs smell like pork shanks.....
