stuff like that should and needs to be kept on the hush hush
Not if I'm paying to go on this ride. I'm taking my kids on this ride. I should be entitled to know the safety and track record. If it's a tragedy, I should be entitled to know that. If it's someones pants getting yanked off, I should be entitled to know that. No offense but I don't know you enough to entrust mine and my families safety to you because your a CM who "put's my safety first". As a paying "customer" I feel I should know whether riding this ride will jeopardize my safety. It's all well and good to trust in the Mouse, and believe me I do but when I see a scene like that, it concerns me because Disney is a great one for this "hush, hush" attitude towards "incidents"

If a fire truck pulled up on my street I would want to know what was going on too. But just know that it might be for the better that we all don't know.
The difference is the fire truck is a curiousity issue. Safety personnel gathering in an amusement ride in which I bring my family on is a tad more than curiosity.

Don't want to make a big issue here and se8472, I certainly am not attacking you on this but I have to disagree with your stance :( Am I the only one who feels this way?? :veryconfu

I never even thought of how they evacuate the ride. How do they do that since you're "flying"?
Hmm... maybe this comment actually answers the question.

It would be tough, wouldn't it? Evacuating a ride in which the ride vehicles are suspended in the air... Yeah, seems to me like a job for the good ol' Reedy Creek FD!!!

That one took me a minute to get. Once I got it I cracked up. Is Hook going to be taken out of the ride for the rest of the season? If so I hope he's back when I go in the spring.

I hear he wanted time off anyway so he could promote his new rap album, "Off 'da HIZOOK"

I'm not a CM, but when I was there last, you can see "step towers" here and there ... dunno where they go to.

I'm with you on this one. The paying public has the right to know an attractions safety record.

I can understand Disneys "ruining the magic" thing with confiscating the tapes and photos, but thats a bit ridiculous. Understand this ... ____*t happens. Given scenario: someone gets injured or killed on a ride ... most of the time its the guests fault ... ok ... but as with everything in life ... accidents happen! And they don't want people to find out about these things. Accidents happen at every theme park. I'm a firefighter/EMT ... I know you can't take pics of dead bodies or anything and post it in the media, but we're talkin about a bunch of firemen standing around. Maybe its just me. I dunno. //// I don't know about anyone else, but I always wonder "How'd they do that?" and THAT keeps me coming back. Whether I know the secret or not, its the most wonderful place in the world and as long as I have money, I'll keep going back forever. There ... I feel better now!

That's exactly how they are evacuated. Reedy Creek comes in and pushes the boats to one of the step towers. The guests are then escorted through the attraction to the exit. And yes, you can actually walk though this ride without stepping on anything. The CMs do it every morning and night to make sure everything is working and clean! I suspect in this situation, this is the only thing that happened. Most likely no one was injured just something mechanical. E-vacs happen everyday at WDW. It's not a big of a deal.

I was in line at the POP bus stop leaving MK Friday night and the lady in front of me told me that they were stuck on PP for 45 minutes. Evidently the ride was doing a stop/go/stop for a min or 2 and then completly shut down. The lights came on and she said that they put ladders up and her hubby handed her 5 yr old over the side to a waiting fireman (they were stranded over London) she said they all evacuated that way and then they were handed special line passes for the rest of the day. She said it was really cool to see the inside of the ride and that the CM's were extremely helpful and polite and that they obviously knew what they were doing

LMAO. I wish they sold that stuff in like pranks and gags stores. Beverly would go perfectly.

And while we're at it, "Bring back the Mexico Beverage to Ice Station Cool!" There's an interesting topic. I love that place.
