Hello everyone! We are eagerly planning our upcoming wedding and honeymoon. We were engaged in wdw in sept 2012. We are planning our honeymoon for November 2013 ( wedding is sept21, but we want to go when the Christmas decorations are up!), we also do not want to be there during thanksgiving. We are trying to pick a resort. We stayed at pofq during our last trip andloved it, but I want to give another resort a try. What do you think of CSR? I am interests in hearing about the recent changes to the food court? I've also heard it has a "convention" feel. Any feedback would be great or reccomendations would be appreciated. Also, deluxe resorts are out of the question unless a great deal comes out, we are more interested Ina 10 day trip at a moderate, if we did a delux we wouldn't be able to stay that long:)

Hi Kasey1988, I have not stayed at CSR but have visited for dinner on numerous occasions. It is a nice resort, I didn't get a convention vibe out of it. It has really pretty decorations at christmas -- like all the resorts. Congrats on your upcoming wedding. I think you will find that the Christmas decor tends to be up around mid-November if that makes your planning any easier. Have a wonderful trip.

I stayed at CSR two weeks ago. It is a very large resort, but it is also a well designed and decorated resort. I did not get a "convention" feel from staying there. The common areas, both inside and outside, are attractive. The rooms are not what I would describe as lavish, but they are well decorated and maintained. There are some decorative outdoor fountains, and the main pool area is attractive. The gift shop in the main building is enormous, and the staff is typical "Disney". I think that the determining factor should involve your taste in atmosphere. As such, I would suggest that you look at photos of the resort and the rooms in order to judge more properly.
I have not sampled the available food options, and so I can not comment on them.

How about the weeks after Thanksgiving but before the real Christmas when all of the Christmas events/decorations are up and in full swing?? It is a great time to go and usually crowds are pretty manageable. I love CSR it is absolutely one of my favorite resorts, Definitely number one or two for the Moderates. I think that you will find it has a quieter atmosphere, not necessarily a convention feel. Definitely well worth checking out. Marie

Out of the moderates it is the most intimate in my opinion. I like it because there a fewer young children and the size makes it feel secluded. The food court is supposedly changing back to how it was where it is a LA carte instead of a buffet for lunch and dinner. This is good because it is great counter service food. There is gratuity added when you eat there but if you take lunch to go, you avoid that charge.

As far as a convention feel... If there is a big convention you will see the attendees during breakfast, otherwise you probably won't see them much. The convention hall is huge but it's adjacent to the food court so you don't have to walk through it to get anywhere. In my opinion this scares away people so I can enjoy it more. This is my favorite resort by far and given the choice I would go back there over any other moderate ever again.

I did it! We were very happy there. In my mind it's a great choice for a honeymoon because there are fewer kids there - some may say it has a convention atmosphere, but I don't find that to be 100% true. There was a PTA conference going on while we were there, but it basically meant that there were fewer kids at the hotel, and in general it felt less busy because the conventioners were at their convention - not on the bus to the parks or otherwise clogging up the hotel.

The staff was very good to us - they put us in a gorgeous room facing the lake and the white sand beach. Good service throughout our trip.

I've stayed at all of the moderates and I rank CSR very highly. I can't comment on the changes to the food court as I was there in summer 2011, but at that time we were happy with the food offerings - unlike at some of the moderates, there is a cafe, Pepper Market which is a step up from the usual food court, and a couple of sit down restaurants.

Overall I wouldn't have any hesitations recommending the resort for your honeymoon. Let me know if you have questions.

IMHO, CSR is one of the nicest moderate resorts for couples. I don't think you can go wrong with it. They have a club, nice bars, and in general less kids (because of conventions). The hammocks around the lakes are nice. If moderate was the only option, CBR, PORS are definitely out.

I'd recommend CSR in a heartbeat! Besides having a great main pool area, CSR also offers many deluxe amenities at a mod price.

CSR has queen beds and the rooms have been recently renovated and are gorgeous. The rooms also have a sliding wooden door separating the sink area from the room instead of a privacy curtain like the other mods.

Amenities include a fitness center, spa, free wi-fi, tanning beds, a sauna, salon, full menu room service and a night club. Beginning in 2013, club level rooms will be offer to guests.

The resort offers the same toiletries as the deluxes (except GF). CSR has separate shampoo and conditioner instead of the shampoo/conditioner combo at the other mods and values (a small thing, I know, but it means I don't have to pack shampoo and conditioner).

CSR has the largest hot tub of the mods and one of the longest pool slides on Disney property. The pool, slide and playground area is great and all located in one area at the main pool.

Bus service is terrific and is not shared with another resort.

I stayed at CSR over Easter last year and fell in love with the resort. It is a large well landscaped property and simply beautiful. From the hammocks on the sandy beach in front of the cabana rooms to the hot tubs at the big pool, and the pathways and the bridges overlooking the lake that the resort is built around, the property was a delight. I think this is a perfect resort for a honeymoon!

Congrats on your engagement! I loved CSR and agree with everyone else that it doesn't have a convention feel. They were having a convention when we were there and I wouldn't have even noticed if we didn't get into a conversation with someone there for the event. I really liked the food at the Pepper Market and stopped there last trip to grab a meal there. I think you'll love it.

CSR can be very romantic at night.

Lots of WDW have conventions. CSR gets singled out to get picked on for it, but many of the hotels host Conventionears. Don't worry about that. :)

Whatever you pick will be wonderful.

Have a fantastic trip!

Port Orleans Riverside is another great resort as ArielLover said. CSR and Riverside are my own personal #1 and 2 choices for Moderate resorts. It is usually a toss up as to which one I end up at. Either way I know it is going to be a great trip! Marie
