Hi!

I'm planning Disney for next month and I am starting to think of the order we will do the rides in. I have a feeling that my daugther might fall asleep in the early PM, in her stroller.

What do you do when kids fall asleep?

Rest?

Or can you take that time to do the 'hard core' rides? Do these ride have steps or can we push to the entry gate, then 'parent switch'?

Thank you!

"Rest"...what is this "Rest" thing you speak of?

When I had one kid, we used it to let me run off to some of the bigger rides while mom shopped as she pushed the stroller around. Or we used the time to grab a bite to eat(quick service) where we could actually eat and enjoy the food while it was hot.

With 2 kids, we used it as a time for one of us to take my daughter on some rides and get a bit of alone time with her while the other one just strolled around with the sleeping boy in the stroller and took in the sights.

Of course- my kids have never been good stroller nappers and we've usually had to go back to the hotel to ensure they get enough rest time for evening activities...However...there have been days where DD3 has taken an early snooze in the stroller. On those days- DH and I take turns. For example: we were in Epcot in the WS while DD3 was asleep. DH took DD5 onto Maelstrom while I walked around in the area with DD3 w/the stroller. I know we walked over to China and took a look around + got a wave from Mulan. DH has done something similar in MK while I take DD5 on rides and he wheels around the stroller with the sleeping girlie. :snore:

Strollers have to be parked in an appropriate area before doing any attractions, so you can't really bring the stroller in and swap that way. If we both wanted to ride something while she slept- I'd probably utilize the single rider line and switch off outside or do the same thing with fastpasses and hope the fastpass line runs quickly enough to ensure you both get on with having to factor in the extra time to switch off outside the ride. Of course each rider swap works differently, so it may be best to ask at the entrance. The one time we did it was Space Mountain and we were almost to the front of the line when the swap part took place. i.e. way beyond where strollers permitted.

When our little one napped last year we found that time to find some shade, usually we would take a turn and each go on a ride solo if we could manage. Either that or we enjoyed the parks, people watched grabbed something to drink. Etc.

Though I do believe there was one or two times, we hopped on the monorail and enjoyed the ride for a couple of go arounds....

My DD's would ALWAYS take their naps in the stroller, and my DH and I would utilize that time in different ways:

1. Browse the shops without little hands reaching out and trying to grab every-lovin' stuffed animal.

2. If only one DD was asleep, either my DH or myself would take the non-napper on a ride or two, or let her pick out her souveneir (sp?).

3. My DH and would take turns riding "our" rides. For example, he'd push the girls around while they slept, and I'd hop in the Single Rider line at Expedition Everest.

4. Take a break in the shade and enjoy the surroundings.

Thank you for your suggestions everyone. I'm glad to know that we cannot 'swap' if she is sleeping. And I hadn't thought of getting an adult drink (but not in MK); or doing the solo lines.

THanks!

You can swap if the kid is sleeping, we always have. Obviously the stroller can't go through the line but they still give you the child swap pass. For Space Mountain I sat just outside the building or on the bench inside theh shop at the exit waiting my turn. At Tower of Terror I waited at the entrance. At Rock'n Roller Coaster I waited near the entrance to the line. At Everest I waited at the entrance as well. It's no biggie. You only have to "park" your stroller in stroller parking if you are walking away from it. Maybe it's just me but my husband and I never both walk away from our sleeping children just because they are in a stroller.

uberplanermom: How did your child swap work? Did you ask the CM as the entry? line up until where you couldn't go anymore with the stroller and both parents? That would definitely be our best option.

Pineappleprincess: love it! I've also heard of margaritas...

My husband would just point me out to the cast member at the entrance to the ride. That cast member would give him a child swap fast pass for me. He would wait in the line, have his ride and then give me the fast pass. It did mean that I waited in the fastpass line but that is sooo much better than waiting in the standby line twice.

I usually park our stroller while our child is napping and let a CM babysit while my wife and I hit the big rides for a while. A $20 tip usually suffices.
