Hi All!

So my DH used to be in the College Program and now has spent the past 4 years trying to get a job back at WDW. And now I am too! And I know how hard it is to get a job there and usually you need someone on the inside to help get you in. And I applied last week for something that I thought I was perfect for b/c it is what I am doing now. But I just got the automatic reply - we have found more qualified people email.
So now I am pondering...
What can I do to be more qualified?
What "buzz" words are they looking for in the resume and cover letter?
Does anyone have any stories of hope - that you got to work at the World and you didn't need a "inside person" helping you?

I'm desperate! I want this more then anything and both my DH and I check the career site on a daily basis.

Thanks!!!

When you are desperate to work for Disney, first examine your expenses.

Then think to yourself, "Can I afford to live the life you live now on a hair over minimum wage?"

If the answer is no, then don't bother and remain a guest. Disney is infinitely more magical if you don't have to deal with the internal politics there.

If the answer is no, but you're desperate, go to disneycareers.com and apply for any professional jobs that interest you. Keep doing so and wait. IME, Disney takes about as long as the federal government to contact you if they're interested in interviewing you. Bear in mind, that the selection will be limited, as Disney prefers to promote from within.

Also, keep in mind that if they're hiring from the outside, they tend to pick the most qualified applicants they can. I have a good friend with 2 bachelors and 2 masters degree (BA, Advertising and Public Relations; BFA Graphic Design; MFA Graphic and Industrial Design; MA Advertising) one of which is a terminal degree, a total Disney fanatic, and he has never heard back from the countless times he's applied to WDW. Thankfully, he's gainfully employed in his field and doesn't need to worry about this.

If the answer is yes, wait for them to start hiring again. It might not be for a while, but it can happen. Go to casting, and apply. WDW is one of the only employes of their size I know that will hire you on the spot for an entry-level job.

If you decide you can afford to live on min wage down here, your currently gonna need a lot of good luck, applying here at the moment, it is like hitting your head against a brick wall as there are few positions and hundreds applying, so just keep persisting!!! I'm currently trying to get my foot in the door, and it is indeed an uphill struggle, to get any job at disney or indeed in central florida at the mo.
