What do I do?

Here's my dilemma...(I apologize if it gets a little long). DH and I have reservations at POP to take our DD(4) and DS(2) in November. My parents have recently been presented with an opportunity that would take them to Florida for two weeks in October and they are thinking of spending one of those weeks at WDW and would like for us to change our reservation and join them. So...here's the problem...DH and I would want to do the MVMCP with the kids if going in November, but we would obviously like to do the MNSSHP if we go in October. Tickets have already gone on sale for these events and my parents are not 100% about going in October yet. What do I do? I don't want to miss out on the parties and the date we would want to do either, but can't be sure which one to get tickets for. Any suggestions?

I say take a chance and try to go when your parents might be there. It is always nice to have help with the kids....maybe you and your husband could get a date in one night while the grandparents babysit!

We would definitely love to have the grandparents along with us. My only concern is if I buy tickets for the Halloween party and things fall through, then I'm stuck with those tickets and no tickets for the Christmas party because we would fall back on those reservations. I do agree, though, that date night would be wonderful!!

That is a tough call. If you took a chance and bought the halloween tickets and it fell through, there would always be a pretty good chance you could still get MVMCP tickets, depending on when in November your reservations are. We bought ours pretty late last year (we went on Nov. 30), and most of the parties were not sold out during the week we were there. But of course you would be out alot of money on the Halloween tickets. Hmmmm....do you know if the Halloween parties usually sell out? When will your parents know for sure? You could take a chance on the parties not selling out and get the tickets after you know for sure. Good luck! I hope it works out for you.

How soon will it take your parents to know if they're going? Is it purely their call, or is there someone else making that decision for them? if it's their decision, tell them your situation, advise them that tickets for these events DO sell out, and they need to **** or get off the pot. :D I'm only half-joking, if your decisions have to be based on them making their decision no harm asking them to make it snappy. Then you don't run the risk of missing either event OR buying tickets you'll wind up being unable to use.

Grandparents are great things to have at WDW. They can take the kids one night while you and the significant other have a night to yourselves, or they can pick up some dinner tabs here and there!

I always go when my parents, who are grandparents, and my niece are in town. We all love to hit the parks together and see what new things my niece can go on each time she visits from Atlanta.

She recently did Space Mountain for the first time and in her words, "I didn't freak out like Madison did!"

Good luck with everything, have fun!

Quiye simply - Tell your parents that you need a definite answer - are they going to WDW in October : yes or no. To avoid disappointment by missing out on the parties, you have to explain to them your reasons for wanting a total committment from them as to whether they are going to WDW.
Good luck

My understanding is that MNSSHP only really is sold out on Halloween and on the weekends so If you are going earlier in October or if you think you'd go to a party during the week you could wait on buying tickets. We went in 2005 and my mom decided last minute to come with us. She bought a ticket for the party 2 days before we went.

As others have said the only dates that really sell quickly are Halloween and weekends. If you can plan it to go during the week wait a little bit to get a definite answer then book the tickets. It's been our experience anyways that the weeknights are less crowded at either of the parties, so it is a better time, less wait.

I would have them set their dates prior to making any changes to your current plans. You know them best. We have some family members who do a lot of talking, but when it comes down to etting the plans in stone, they flake out. Having been with grandparents recently, there are a lot of positives to having them there, but also there are negatives too. I would explain to them that there are separate ticket events you are planning on going to and need to know their plans so you can finalize your own and purchase the tickets before the dates you want sell out. They shouldn't have an issue with that. Both parties are great!! We love them both!

Could you just move your trip to October regardless of if they come or not and buy Halloween Party tickets now? If they don't come, no biggie - just enjoy your trip.
