What did u survive?

What did you survive if you did during your life? About 5 years ago, my city was hit with a tornado, of course one of the houses damaged was my house. My brothers came flying down from my mothers room yelling at me and my mother to get in the basement because the tornado was comeing. I was young so I didnt know what to do so I ran to the basement. My mother didnt believe my brothers so she was taking her time and closeing the windows. We were screeming at her to come down here. Then the window in my basement broke open and the power went off. By then my mother believe something was going on so she went to the basement. She could hear a big band from our kitchen and we later found out our window blew in hitting the floor. We all cuddled up under a blanket. My father and one of my brothers were at price chopper (our local grocery store). After a little bit we could here the storm stopped. We walked upstairs and saw the kitchen window on the floor. We walked up our second flight of stairs to our bedroom part of our house. What did we see? We saw a blue sky coming from our rooms. We had lost out roof. The room that had the most damage was the room my brothers were in before the told us to get in the basement. The entire wall that they were watching out caved in. They were very lucky they didnt die. Then afterwords we went outside and my father was out side and my brother was still at price chopper helping people because he worked there. We got into a police car and they took us to our elementary school were we stayed for one night. Then for two nights we took out insurance money and went to stay at a 4 or 5 star resort (lol). Then we rented a apartment and lived there for 4 or 5 months till our house was rebuilt. Our house was lucky, it only had its roof taken off. Up the road, my aunts house was completely gone and she and my uncle were trapped under a stove and cabinets. They survied along with everyone else, but it was the worst thing I have ever experienced.

Now does anyone have a story like that? I would love to hear them.

-several hurricanes (including Andrew and Hugo)
-the deadly tornadoes in April 98 in Orlando
-being stabbed in the arm and leg
-being shot in the thigh
-being stung by jellyfish
-having my forehead slashed open by glass... twice
-3 car accidents (not my fault!)
-my ToD injuries... and ToD itself
-several animal attacks
-having a dirt bike land on me
-the Dupont Plaza fire of 1986 in San Juan, PR
-being impaled in my face by a slim metal rod
-first degree burns on my hands cause I was a dumb kid (the only lasting scars are on my knuckles/finger joints)
-playing ice hockey
-being a Disney Characters... friend.
-a 2 boat collision in a gator infested lake in Gainesville, FL
-a taser to the neck


and this is just what I can remember.

I was an inch away from being run over by a car!

And I survived the Tower of Terror!

That's all I can think of!

several car accidents, two big ones I can remember off the top of my head:

-getting t-boned in my new dodge daytona by a big ford truck with dualy's. ( The daytona was not even 48hours old, it was the other guys fault though... not mine)

-getting hit by a lincoln town car while riding my 10-speed bike.


A couple of bad dog attacks.

A car repossesion (s/p?) gone bad (yes I used to repo cars in the city...lol started when I was 15 y/o) dude was watching his car from his apt. accross the street at 3am... (but I did not know) he came flying down the stairs waving a .45 cal in my face... I unhooked his car, and let him keep it... and quit the repo biz the next day. (I went back to check on his car 12 hours later, and the owner had burnt it to the ground...lol)

there are a few other things... but its 4am... I will think of some more later...lol

I've only had a couple motorcyle crashes and several sloppy, drunken incidents in college which I can't remember in any detail.

Seeing this thread made me think of something that happened in my school not too long ago. A teacher (at the time I didnt know it was one of mine) put a pastry in the microwave and it caught fire. She took it out and threw it in the trash can. It set off all the alarms and we were evacuated. We were out for about an hour. People here now have shirts that read: "I Survived the Monroe- Woodbury Microwave Fire of 2003"

a weapon that sets off an strong electrical current in your body... it's really only used to stun, but if you get someone in the right place (over the heart, parts of the neck, etc), you can be killed

Well I've survived blizzards, hurricanes, tornados, blackouts and floods (had to be evacuated 2x by the fire dept.) and 2 earthquakes.
I've rear ended a truck (loaded with propane ) and wrecked the car (before the 1st payment was made )
I've also survived childbirth twice, but I'm not sure I'll make it through their teenage years.


And Rob, you are so lucky to still be with us.

I live on an island off the NJ coast so we get all the Nor'easters, hurricanes and any tropical system moving our way, summer and winter! Winds are outrageous always, haha, and flooding deep enough that we drive our boats down the streets.

Also survived 12 trips to Disney driving in a car!

I nearly drowned at the age of eight while at my local pool. I wasn't a very good swimmer and was near the deep-end of the pool. I blacked out and luckily came to next to the edge. The pool was packed with kids and there were no lifeguards (if there were, none of them noticed I wasn't moving in the water).

To this day, I still don't know how/why I regained consciousness. No-one pulled me to safety, nor did anyone perform mouth-2-mouth. I was one lucky, fat kid.

well - being that i am really clumsy....

i survived fracturing my skull once... i tripped, and fell off of a hayride, that was parked. i was taken to a houston hospital for two weeks. the dr. told my parents that if i had hit just a little bit harder, i would have died. i don't remember it. i was a freshman in high school then.

i have run into the side of a door... i woke up in the hospital. i was told it was the equivalent to a TKO.

that is pretty much all the major stuff...

OH WAIT - once i hit my head in my grandmother's ceiling fan... it cut my head... well- i have done that on more than one occasion, but that time was serious!
