What cheap attraction do you want to see next?

We’re always talking about what big e-ticket ride we want to see next. But what about smaller stuff – rides and features that don’t get top billing, or the big budgets, but make the park extra special. I am thinking of things like Snow White’s Grotto, The Tiki Birds, and Dumbo. They aren’t the most popular, but add character to their lands. They don’t get big budgets, but make nice attractions while you wait for your fast pass on the latest thrill ride.

So what smaller things would you like to see in the park? No E-ticket (or even big D-ticket) stuff here – it doesn’t even have to be a ride – it could be a special feature or corner or show. Things that may not require a big budget, but add character and a sense of place.

Ive mentioned it in several threads, so I guess it wouldnt hurt to say it again: I would love to see another dark ride of some sort. I would love to see a Little Mermaid dark ride, but I dont think thats going to happen since they already have a show at MGM. I would also like to see an Aladdin dark ride since that stupid carpet ride doesnt do that movie justice. However, they already have an Aladdin sequence in Philharmagic, so I dont see that happening either. I'd settle for a sleeping beauty or another classic. Just not a complete clone like Pinnochio or Alice in Wonderland (since DL has those already) but something different!! Just my thoughts... :D :D

Snow White's Grotto?

I would also not mind seeing a new dark ride. It doesn't necessarily have to be anything mind blowing or revolutionary, just something small and sweet. It obviously wouldn't be an E-Ticket but it would still be enjoyable.

A Sleeping Beauty dark ride would be a welcome addition. No other park has one; and since Fantasmic! already has a fantastic dragon, the dark ride wouldn't need an expensive Malificent/dragon AA.

I actually wouldn't mind an Alice in Wonderland semi-clone if it utilized new technology and didn't just replicate DL's version.

Regarding this entire discussion, perhaps WDI needs to create some wonderfully immersive D-tickets to breathe new life into the parks. Instead of slapping an expensive E-ticket into a park every so often and having to cut budgets along the way, WDI could create a few D-tickets dark rides that emphasize atmosphere and storytelling rather than thrill factor.

Snow White's Grotto is a nice little spot at Disneyland with statues of the film's characters and some nice waterfalls, etc. We have "Ariel's Grotto" here in Walt Disney World, but it's essentially a meet and greet.

I’m with you guys….more dark rides please. I don’t even really care what theme they use. Alice in Wonderland, Lion King you name it. I can’t even remember the last dark ride built at WDW.

Yeah,I really dont care what kind of theme they would use! Dark rides are a nice budget minded option, especially since Disney is busting out the bick bucks for treats like EE. But little D or C ticket rides like Dark rides can also be real treats if done right. Dark rides are like little homages to the great classics one thinks of they think Disney. It would be really nice to get new E tickets every year, but thats just not possible, so dark rides are real nice additions without having to the break the bank to build them. Im with all of you!!

Hi all! Thsi is my very first post, so i thought this would be a good thread to jump in on. I agree that money would be well spent adding some lesser attractions to the parks. As imports go, I would like to see the Snow White show from DL added to MK. For something original, how about a Mary Poppins dark ride for MK, a MOnsters, Inc ride for MGM, an "Around the World in 80 Days" sort of summary tour (boat ride?) to go somewhere in World Showcase, and a Jungle Book dark ride for AK.

I agree the thing that gives the parks subsance beyond the E-tickets are the smaller rides/attractions. Their the glue that holds the parks together thematically. The Country Bears impressed far longer than any other attraction when I was a child.

It seems to me that the Studios needs this more than any other park. Sunset boulevard really dosen't have any cohesion ToT, RnR, Beauty and the Beast stage show really don't interrelate and there is no glue just some shops down on Sunset. So if I had to target an area for a small project that would be it.

It would be cool if there was a theater on Sunset Blvd. that showed some old movies on a rotating basis maybe full films or montages of great films (I could watch the Great Movie Ride film loop all day). They could, for example, have Rocky Horror Picture Show day to tie into ToT or show old Twilight Zone episodes or show Star Wars when they have Star Wars weekends. I know licensing is tricky but that is all workable. You could even have "Inside the Actor's Studio" type days where actors are brought in and discuss their careers etc. I'm starting to like my idea....

Getting back to the point

Welcome!!

Someone in another thread mentioned that everyone says to get rid of Swiss Family Treehouse, but never says what to replace it with. Well, I thought long and hard about it, and I have somewhat of an idea (that was also brushed upon by Mr. I above).

I think that a Jungle Book dark ride would fit nicely into Adventureland. I was trying to figure size of a show building, etc. to see if it would fit, and i think that they might be able to sqeeze something in there. It would be pretty close to the boat storage area for Jungle Cruise, and would also be close to the Crystal Palace, but I think it would fit. Constructing it is another matter.

Problem is that AK is basically an expanded Adventureland. So a JB dark ride would fit in well at both places.

I would love to see a darkride using the Japanese Pooh's technology, as well as something along the lines of Roger Rabits Cartoon Spin. If they're going to build a new dark ride, use new technology to make it unique.

As far as themes, there's plenty of movies deserving of a ride, and I'm sure WDI has plenty of non-tie-in ideas they could use.

I'd like to see them reopen the top part of the Journey Into Imagination pavillion. Invest the small amount of money to clean it back up and maybe add a few new things and BAM! You have a fun attraction. :D

If I had to totally think up a new concept thought, I'd want a House of Mouse themed restaurant/attraction.

I would also love to see a Monsters, Inc. attraction - it could be super fun if you somehow incorporated a 3-D screen along with the ride itself... you could have the room with all the doors, you could start out by watching the scaring class... it would be a wonderful attraction... they could even put it in the remaining section of the new 100 acres thing!

Either refurbish the upstairs of the Imagination pavillion for more ImageWorks, or a moderately priced sit-down restaurant.

I'm gonna say what "cheap" rides I would like to see in each of the parks:
1)MK-A new dark ride, preferablly one of Lion King or Aladdin. Another great idea would be bring Sinbad's Adventures from TDS.

2)Epcot-A new 3-D show for Imagination, starring our favorite guy with a red beard and his little purple dragon. I would also like to see a small dark ride about the history(including the future) of space exploration added to M:S, which would complete the pavillion. It would be an omnimover, and maybe you could even pick which planet you want to visit ala Horizons.

3)MGM-Nothing, unless you count the GMMR as cheap, but that sounds like a huge budget because of all the AAs.

4)AK-A Jungle Book dark ride in Camp Minnie-Mickey

SpenceMan01: I wouldn't count CTX as a dark ride. It's pretty thrilling. And JIIwF wasn't really built somuch as an improvent to a ride that was a huge destructive unimprovement of a classic ride.(hope you understood that  )

Monsters inc. would make an Awesome ride! you could ride in like, suspended cars, and go through the doors. Some of it could be dark, and they would have like randall chasing you and popping out like the witch on snow white (but less scary).

As far as "cheap" additions to the park, I'd say anything ride related would be pretty expensive. I think a good reasonably priced addition would be more covered over-hangs and possibly an oasis around the Epcot lagoon. It gets hot walking around there. You could have large trees, more 'outposts' or waterfalls or whatever.
