What Celebrities Have You Met at WDW

I was reading the borads about the Beach Club and someone mentioned the Cape May Cafe and you know how memories pop in your head? Well I pulled a calf muscle horsing around with my kids. So we were eating at the Cape May Cafe and we were pretty much done with dinner. So I told my wife to take care of the bill and I'm going to get a head start to the lobby.

So as I get to the lobby I look over at check in and there is Howie Long who was a defensive end for the oakland Raiders and is a Fox Sports commentator. It was the week of Super Bowl XXXV in 2001. He must of been there doing something with Disney as I sat in a chair close to where he was. A Disney Guest Services Rep was talking to him and he was questioning " Are you sure the ride doesn't move around too much" She kept assurring him it was very gentle and the shoot was only a few minutes.

So my family joined me and I pointed out Howie to my wife. She's says " Go get his autograph" I replied "No way, he was a deensive end, he's nasty."

Well we ended up getting on the same elevator and we started talking. He was a really nice guy and no I didn't ask him for his autograph. I just felt funny to ask.

So what was your brush with the famous?

I walked past Alan Thicke on a bridge as I was going into Pleasure Island. It was in the early 90s and it was around Christmas. He was in town to host the Christmas Parade in the Magic Kingdom and he was leaving PI as I was going in. It wasn't a thrill and I didn't ask him for an autograph because I didn't really want it. I remember he was wearing one of those really cheesy Cosbyesque sweaters. That's my only brush with a celebrity at WDW.

This was years ago, but my wife and I were in line at DisneyQuest, waiting to be next on some attraction I can't remember. While waiting, the CM running the attaction turned to us and said that they were not really supposed to point out celebs, but he said isn't that Dave Thomas? And sure enough, it was. This is Dave Thomas of SCTV, Bob and Doug McKenzi, Strange Brew fame. He was also a voice in Disney's Brother Bear.

He was with his kids, so I didn't interrupt and ask for an autograph.

Thats my brush...

I met Kyle Massey a few years ago in WDW, he's a kid thats been in multiple disney channel shows and on Dancing with the stars. He was on the same elevator as me in TOT. I asked for a picture and autograph and he was really sweet about it, honestly never watched any of the shows he was in but it was still pretty cool.

And that same trip Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson walked by me with his family. that was pretty cool as well!

Back in 2005 we rode Pirates in Magic Kingdom with Vincent D'Onofrio and his son (and their CM guide) in the row in front of us. (I was surprised the grouper at the front of the line didn't at least give them an empty "buffer" row behind them)

Back in the early 80's when I was a young kid, we met Missy Gould in line for Big Thunder at Disneyland. She was the blonde girl who played the governor's daughter on the show "Benson" which was a popular show at the time. (Her sister is Tracy Gould from Growing Pains). She and my older sister were about the same age, so they chatted most of the time. I barely remember the event.

Al Weiss, then-President of WDW, walked by our group as we waited for the ceremony marking Walt's 100th birthday at the Studios back in 2001. (Al wasn't participating in the event, but was there to watch it)

I work in radio and back in 1998 I got to broadcast from the opening of animal kingdom, we were allowed in the park 2 days before the public to do our broadcasts, i stupidly ran into Drew Carey as I was looking at the tree of life....he approached me and started to tell me about how the tree was made of concrete...i was like yea yea then looked over and saw who it was and said..you're drew Carey.....he said yes I am....I asked to get a photo and did....very nice guy, the next day we did interviews and got to meet none other than Roy Disney....it was one of those moments where you know who you are talking too, but really realize who you are talking to about 5 minutes after....I do have photos of both...but this was before the age of digital cameras and both are now on a hard drive after being scanned...and both hang in my game room....

Well, pretty much every time I've been to a Disney park I've been lucky enough to meet Mickey Mouse himself! Can't get much bigger than that! :D

We were leaving a yummy lunch at Kona in the Poly and were bummed because it was our last day:( As we were walking out of the lobby into the garden area where valet is, a very tall blond girl smiled and waved to our little girl, who was very small and blond. As I looked closer I realized it was Brooke Hogan, it was when Hogan Knows Best was on. About two weeks before we left for the trip I saw the show for the 1st time, good timing or I would not have know who she was. She was dressed in tank top and cargo shorts waiting with the CM who wear the plaid vests and had little or no make up on, so it took us a minute because I only had seen her VERY made up. A shame she feels the need to put so much on display, she is very pretty naturally and seemed very kind we just exchanged a few nice words and left. No picutes, did have the camera with us at lunch...it might have been weird to take on anyway...

Years and years ago we saw Heather Locklear and Adrian Zmed at River Country. I was too young to care but my brother brushed elbows with her and claimed he would never wash it again... Knowing my brother, he hasn't. :lookaroun

I've taken 6 Disney World trips since 2007 and I've actually seen quite a lot of "celebrities". I only "met" a few of them but I've ran into Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon at the grand Floridian, Joe Fattone from NSYNC, NBA players Brook and Robin Lopez and Jason Kidd, Justin Bieber at the MCO airport in Orlando, and most recently comedian Kevin Hart. I pretty much average a celebrity or so a trip. Keep your eyes open! :lookaroun:lookaroun

When I was a CM at Space Mountain naturally we had most of the celebrities come through and I got to see and be near a ton. Off the top of my head: Britney Spears, Brett Favre, Harrison Ford, Calista Flockhart, Vincent D'Onofrio, Larry King, LeBron James, Rob Thomas, Miley Cyrus, Brian Dennehy, Edward James Olmos, Seth Rogan, Kelly Ripa, Steve Young, every American Idol winner (and Clay Aiken), and Joan Rivers (that was at Buzz - I was at Unload that day and I helped her off. She patted my hand and said I was a "nice young man".)

Dec 2010 we were staying at POR and where waiting for the Epcot bus with John Flaherty (former baseball player, current announcer for YES) and his family. Dec 2001 I saw Drew Carey at MGM as it was still called then. Sometime in the last 90's I saw Jesse Jackson and his family being escorted around Epcot by a CM. That is it for me.

I have to say I would've geeked out seeing Flaherty. I know it's sad...not too many people geek out at seeing a backup catcher

My family spent Christmas 2001 in WDW, and we saw John Stamos and Rebecca Romjin twice (they were apparently following us, lol, as my brother and sister saw them in FL one day, and we saw them again in front of the Great Movie Ride the next day).

In DL, I saw Brad Garrett (from Everybody Loves Raymond, also in A Bug's Life and Finding Nemo). My parents and sister saw Jamie Lee Curtis while waiting for me to ride Space Mountain (and yet no one thought to yell "Stupid Judy" ;)).

When my brother did the CP in 1999, he saw a bunch of celebs while working on the Skyway. The most exciting was Doug Flutie, then quarterback of the Buffalo Bills.

Super Bowl MVP Kurt Warner was eating dinner at California Grille the same time I was last June..

While not at Disney.. at the MCO terminal waiting for our departure flight back to Chicago.. a flight from North Carolina came to the gate.. Grant Hill came out of the plane..

Needless to say.. that was pretty freakin awesome.

when i was a cm i met many people as well! it was very funny working at speedway and seeing the basketball players try and sit in the vehicles and their knees sticking up at level of the steering wheel :ROFLOL: i was a greeter for scott pollard and i told him he wasnt tall enough to ride, he laughed a bit but im sure he heard that one a million times. my favorite though i must say was wayne brady, such a nice person! he made my night.

i must say though, i was a little embarrassed when we had a racecar driver come to speedway

we also had jorge posada, and apparently i was the only cm at my ride that knew who he was (yankee player)

my husband had the funniest celebrity encounter. he ran into johnny damon at the orlando airport when he was with the red socks (ps we are yankee fans). they got into a little sports convo and when my husband had to leave for his flight johnny asked him if he would like an autograph and my husband actually turned it down and said im a yankee fan. he laughed and it was all well, such a good sport...sure enough the following season he was a yankee fan! i joke with my husband saying he is responsible for that :)
