The two absolute most important:

1. Tower of Terror (easily tops my list, IMO no attraction comes close to the way in which the ToT experience exceeds the sum of its parts; it would consider it literally a work of genius)

2. Haunted Mansion (obviously a brilliant experience, and there's a very good case for saying it's the best HM in the world)

...now we move to the "less than 100% certain that they should remain perpetually untouched, but still incredible attractions that would be dangerous to mess with and difficult to improve upon" category:

3. Splash Mountain

4. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

...attractions that I could reasonably see being "plussed" in the future, and would be okay with doing so as long as it does not break the thematic integrity or lower the quality:

5. Expedition Everest (I'm actually not a huge fan of the attraction experience itself, but the design quality is uniformly outstanding)

6. Kilimanjaro Safaris (I could see changes being made, e.g., new animals/habitats, etc., but they should be made carefully so as to match the attraction's current quality; KS could also be improved by fixing sight-lines that make fences visible, and, I hope one day, the removal of the Wild Africa Trek and thus its associated structures)

7. Spaceship Earth (if the current narration and descent problems are fixed, this will once again be one of WDW's best attractions, and worth keeping perpetually, but with intermittent updates as technology progresses)

I've excluded Pirates and Space Mountain because their DL counterparts are (IMHO!) vastly superior, so they could definitely be improved upon.

Bonus: Almost all of the places at DAK (outside of Dinoland) are near-perfect in their design and immersion. As such, I believe it is particularly important to tread very carefully when making any aesthetic/design changes or additions to AK, lest they "break" the perfection. This also goes for near-perfect areas of other parks, such as Main Street and Hollywood Boulevard / Sunset Boulevard / east side of Echo Lake.

I wouldn't say untouchable, if they were being replaced by something better, than maybe, but how would we know until after they were replaced. What a pickle. Also, I don't mind necessary upgrades, once again they need to make the attraction better.

The following would be the ones that would definitely make me question Disney's ability to make a good decision:

Haunted Mansion
Mad Tea Party, yes I love this bad boy
Pirates of the Caribbean
Splash Mountain
Muppet's Present
Jungle Cruise

American Adventure

Muppet Vision
Tower of Terror

Expedition Everest

That's it for me. Not that these are the only ones I love, but it would really truly hurt my feelings to see them go.

To some people, that would probably be any common attractions to Disneyland and WDW. To those people, WDW is the red-headed stepchild to Disneyland. I understand that Disneyland is the original, the park that Walt built and spent alot of time at, but WDW doesn't get the respect it deserves from Disneyland fans, IMO. I've never been to Disneyland, so I can't say myself which attractions are better, but I bet there are a few people from Southern California who have never been to WDW, claiming that all Disneyland attractions are superior, without having experienced the WDW versions.
I think you'd find quite a lot have been to both. Jungle cruise at wdw is significantly better. Haunted Mansion IMO is better at wdw despite the overrated hatbox ghost. But that's about it. If you haven't been there then you cannot understand how much better pirates was. It made me angry that it was so much better. There is very little that wdw has that I would miss after having been to the Anaheim park. You should go. It's unacceptable that it took me so long to finally go. I missed out on so much.

Sacred attractions that I think will never, nor should they ever, be removed:

WDW Railroad
Swiss Family Treehouse
Jungle Cruise
Tropical Serenade aka the Enchanted Tiki Room
Pirates of the Caribbean
Country Bear Jamboree
Splash Mountain
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Tom Sawyer's Island
The Haunted Mansion
The Hall of Presidents
it's a Small World
PeopleMover
Space Mountain
Carousel of Progress
Spaceship Earth
Living with the Land
The American Adventure
Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Expedition Everest
Kilimanjaro Safari

Glad to see you included Swiss Family Treehouse in your group. Built in 1971 in Adventureland at WDW, it may not be a big thrill attraction like some of the others, but it is classic Disney. I like having some lower energy (yet nicely themed) attractions in the park, to balance out some of the more higher energy ones.

Hello everyone. I’ve got a question for all of you: What attractions would you consider to be “sacred?” By that I mean, what attractions, that if heavily modified/replaced, would you be really mad at Disney for? My personal list includes:

- HM

- Tiki Room

- Small World

- Splash

- LwTL

- ToT

- Just about every ride at AK, excluding those in C&H

- CoP

- Spaceship Earth
Ok here goes, sorry but none! Walt Disney didn’t stand still, so everything must move on.and if they update then make it a spectacular one, there will always be a place for HM, because for so many it’s getting kids to have there first fun haunted ride.and Halloween is huge, small world, kids love it, so yeah should stay I think, splash mountain, you need a water ride for hot days, and COP, could probably go to Epcot , I think it suits it more there, speedway defo should go, no good for climate and tron is perfect for tomorrow land, good post though.

It's definitely on my bucket list to head to Anaheim. I've only seen PoTC at Disneyland on YouTube but, with what I've seen, and including the recent changes, I am definitely intrigued as to what the actual experience would be like riding it. It's always been longer in duration than WDW, so that's a plus. HM is my favorite Disney attraction, but I really can't understand the hype over the Hatbox Ghost either. I'm sure that I would probably love Disneyland-but WDW will always be my home park and my favorite, due to the emotional connections I have with it.

I wasn't prepared for how quickly my love shifted. The attractions, cleanliness, staff and the food, my God the food, is better over there. As far as the hatbox gost, be prepared to ride multiple times to see the effect. Then wonder what the hype is about. Not pirates on the other hand, there is no comparison. YouTube videos do not do it justice at all. Length is one thing but the scenes especially the ones Orlando is missing, makes the ride so much better. I have no desire to ever rode wdw again.

You have to wonder why the difference in the two parks? I'm sure WDW is more of a cash cow for Disney than Disneyland. Is it just a matter of who's running park operations at each resort? Is it the massive size of WDW that makes it hard to keep housekeeping and maintenance at a high level?

This is a tricky question. There are some like Carousel of Progress where I wouldn't mind updating, just not replacement. So I'm thinking of attractions that I don't want closed completely or changed dramatically. Most are in the Magic Kingdom. I would have more at Epcot, but so many have already changed.

Magic Kingdom: Tiki Room, Jungle Cruise, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Big Thunder, Splash Mountain, Small World, Peter Pan, Carousel of Progress, Space Mountain, People Mover

Epcot: Spaceship Earth, Living with the Land, Impressions de France, The American Adventure

Hollywood Studios: Tower of Terror

Animal Kingdom: Kilimanjaro Safaris, Expedition Everest

Probably a little column A and a little of column B. All i know is that I really do not enjoy WDW much anymore but would take DL in a its place. The biggest downside is DL location.

There are many for me. But most noteably the ones that shouldn't be replaced or changed in overall theme and execution, are Splash Mountain, Pirates of the Carribean, and Kilimanjaro Safaris. I've not mentioned any EPCOT or Everest - Everest needs a Yeti and until then, it won't have its DAK flare!

I have a list of things I don't think they should ever touch. But will they? They've gotten rid of Snow White, Tower of Terror (Disneyland) so who knows. I think we think things are sacred but does Disney anymore? Every time I go to Disney I always feel as if it will be my last chance to see Carousel of Progress. I'd like to think they'll never touch a classic Walt masterpiece that can never be duplicated............right?

Anyway, here are things I don't think they'll ever get rid of, I don't think. By the way, altering a thing or two or updating them isn't getting rid of them either. If the theme and concept is the same then they haven't gotten rid of it.

Small World - Never happen. One of Walt's last gifts to the world. I love it, and always will.
Pirates - Too popular, the movies were too popular as well. Walt's truly last creation.
Haunted Mansion - Just nothing else like it
Splash - Too popular
Walt Disney Railroad - I mean, why in the world would they? I can't even imagine how doing that would make them more money, which would be the only reason
Peter Pan - Still very popular and outside of that where else is Pan present in the parks?

There are others of course, such as Hall of Presidents that I couldn't imagine and I'd like to think Country Bear Jamboree is one of them because it really doesn't take up space and is a fan favourite.

Walt Disney World RR
COP
Space Mountain
PeopleMover
It's a Small World
Dumbo (not that I like it)
Teacups
It's A Small World
Peter Pan's Flight
Haunted Mansion
Hall of Presidents
Liberty Square Riverboat
Country Bear Jamboree
Splash Mountain
Big Thunder Mountain
Pirates
Jungle Cruise
Tiki Birds.
There are a number in Epcot I would consider sacred that are already gone or changed significantly. (SpaceShip Earth, World of Motion, Horizons, Ellen's Energy Adventure, Body Wars, Cranium Command,)
Of those still functioning, The American Adventure and especially the Voices of Liberty.
At the Studios, The Great Movie Ride, Tower of Terror, Muppetvision 3D, Star Tours
At DAK, The Safari, Dinosaur, Kali River Rapids, Expedition Everest,

That should do it!
