What attractions are you NOT allowed to videotape?

maybe you had IR light on (nightshot) .. this is like external video light for the nightvision security cameras

This last sunday, I went to MGM to take some video around the park. I worked my way into Tower, and recorded the preshow without any problems. I even used my lens to view the taping and not the lcd, so the light wouldn't bother people. I then proceeded to the ride, got all strapped in, about to go, and a cast member without uniform ORDERS me to put my camera away. He held the car until I got my camcorder in the bag. Ticked me off.
Other than that, I haven't had any other problems with taping attractions.

The ones that I know of are:

Dinosaur
American Adventure
Soarin'
Probably Haunted Mansion, Misson:Space, and most indoor (dark) attractions

I wish that you could videotape everything because with those Disney withdrawls, it would be good to cheer me up.

Have a great trip!

I tried Dinosaur, its probably that they don't want you to but mostly because you can't. I couldnt keep the darn camera steady. I also taped the POTC in Disneyland without issue, thought it would be hard since the new upgrade.

I was told to put my video camera away once inside the capsule on Mission: Space. The CM unlocked the restraints so that I could reach the metal cage to put my video camera in. Cool thing is that I forgot to turn off the camera and it recorded the whole flight with the lens aimed out through the holes in the basket. It was the first time that I noticed how many red or blue lights flash in the cabin each time one pushes on one of the control buttons during the flight.

My husband once taped the whole of Its a Small World - wonder why no one wants to watch our holiday videos . . . :snore:

He then carried on to video the parade, holding the camera above his head as he was at the back. His arms were in agony but he soldiered on. After the parade had finished he checked on the recording - the battery had gone 15 minutes earlier and all he had to show for his efforts was a distant view from the opposite end of Main Street of the very start of the parade

ROFLOL I recorded all of stitch and didnt get them saying anything to me about it. I even had it on my lap while the CM was walking past me and the lcd was open and everything, she just laughed at me and walked on. Guess she figured I was stupid for taping it, it came out ok but not the greatest. I also taped BUZZ with one hand while I fired with the other and I still managed to kick my girlfriends butt on the score LOL.

i was told off on the potc ride publicly over the tanoy system not to film the ride!!
they stopped the boat and told me to turn off my video camera loudly...how embarressed was i!:veryconfu

really? cuz i went in july and i taped almost everything. i taped potc and even got the cast members in it and they didnt care. of course i always had the light on my camera off so i didnt bother other ppl. didnt get great shots of dark rides at all especially spaceship earth but i still had the background noise and the "ghost host" on the haunted mansion. However, my friend wasnt so courteous as she took pics on her camera with the flash on in haunted mansion and she got in trouble. i told her not to but she didnt listen so whatever.

Hmm I don't know, I never said anything to people that wanted to videotape Mission: Space. No one ever told me that it wasn't allowed :D
Here we go again... just because no one ever told you, it's allowed...

So IE, if you're in the supermarket, and no one tells you not to steal... you will steal??? (not being personal of course)...

If you're taping inside a ride, you're infringing Copyright laws...

Almost everyone does it... and IMO as long as they know that they're in violation...
So don't get angry if you're film/tape gets confiscated... or kicked out of the park, they have every right to do so.

However if I see someone taping inside a ride which they're not allowed, I tell them, whether they like it or not... (but I don't visit much rides)

Ultimately, I think I will only be taping things like parades, shows, fireworks, Fantasmic. I don't want to tape rides because I'll worry more about how things will turn out than fully experiencing the ride. With this being the first trip ever for us, I don't want to miss much of anything!
There are usually signs posted whenever taping/pictures are prohibited, aren't there? Following rules is always best, especially if you have observant little children with you :animwink:.

Just my two cents.

Oh... you're so FUNNY!!!

And you think I haven't talked to Steve about this???

So please stop these sarcastic answers...

Guess you know it all...

You have offended me for my opinion, you may doubt my skill, but NEVER my integrity... which you did in your answer...

At least you made your name in my ignore list...

Could be in Germany there's a different mentality about these things... but luckely it's not mine...

I guess steve did the same you're doing with me now .. ignored :D

so sad that someone giving out "aggressive" answers can't deal with an sarcastic echo ..

all I can say peeps .. tape attractions that are not forbidden to tape .. don't risk (as corrus said .. and what he partly be right about) any trouble with disney by taping those forbidden attractions ... someone will tape them afterall .. maybe with some CM connection afterhours or whatnot .. and when the attraction is extinct you'll surely find videos of thos attractions .. :animwink:

That same thing happened to me when I was videotaping Dinosaur. I don't know if it was mentioned before the ride or not, but I quickly learned to use caution with that sort of thing. It is quite embarrassing to be yelled at in Disney World.

Confirming the negative on Soarin'. In fact, Patrick in the pre-show specifically states to stow "cameras, purses, hats, and of course these little beauties..." anyway.

I've been able to video tape many attractions, including Timekeeper (I asked a manager), Mission: Space, Soarin, Nemo's Undersea Adventure, RnR Coaster (and you don't see much), Stitch's Great Escape, Dinosaur, Carousel of Progress (both present and in 1986), American Adventure (they let me sit in the back and record), O' Canada, Reflections of China, All the rides in Wonders of Life. So, I never had a problem recording. It usually help when you are friends with the CM's and they do cut you some slack. But I never always go back in to record it. Once is enough for me. If the recording sucks then I try again a couple of weeks later.
