What are your favorite shops in the Walt Disney World Parks?

My favorite shop used to be the Acme Gag Factory, home of Roger Rabbit and classic animation merchandise, all housed within Marvin Acme's toon warehouse from Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

Originally, it was the halfway mark/restroom stop during the original studio tour. You'd leave the tram portion, get something to eat, do some shopping, or let the kids explore "Honey I Shrunk the Kids", and then continue the walking part of the tour when you were ready.

It still exists today (partly) but has long since been taken over by Captain Sparrow and Commander Skywalker, and very soon it shall be no more because Star Wars. I will always miss the toon bombs and Ton Of Bricks hanging precariously from the ceiling...

And while it is true that Disneyland has their own version of the Gag Factory....it's nowhere near the same, as it has nothing to do with WFRR.
It actually looks more like MouseGears.

When I was younger I was a big shopper so there really wasn't a store I didn't like! Now I have refined my palette per se and narrowed down the choices to just a few places around the World.

MK - Agrabah Bazaar, Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe, Zanzibar Shell Co.

Epcot - House of Good Fortune, Mitsukoshi Dept. Store, Village Traders

DHS - Stage 1 Co. Store, Villains in Vogue

DAK - Chester and Hester's Dino Treasures, Mobassa Market Place,

DS - Art of Disney, Disney Day's of Christmas, Disney Pin Traders, World of Disney

Resorts - Bou Tiki (Poly), Everything Pop (Pop), Panchito's (CSR), Screen Door General Store (BWR), Wilderness Lodge Mercantile (WL), Zawadi Marketplace (AKL)

I like that all of the shops are different. At first glance, you might think they all have the same stuff. But that is far from the truth. Each store has something unique for that area.

Here's an example from my trip earlier this week. We were in MK and wanted to get my youngest son his first Mickey plush. We were looking at the $16 size as it is a great size for a 1.5 year old. Plus, it matched the other two son's size. We saw it in a gift show over in Tomorrowland. We said ahhh, we'll get it on our way out so that we don't have to drag it around all day. Instead we will stop at Emporium. (yeah, I know they can deliver to the front of the park, or even your Disney hotel). Well either they were all out and didn't want to say the were actually out of a certain merch. But, the CM said. "Sorry we only have Minnie in that size." I looked around before this interaction to confirm their response. She said you'd have to go to (fill in the blank) store. So I said ahh, oh well tomorrow then, as I knew we were goint to be in AK on Wed. So we were able to get it at Island Mercantile no problem. Also, Don't be fooled by thinking that Island Mercantile and Disney Outfitters across the street from each other in AK are identical. They are not. Island Mercantile has different girl merch. But, that's a story for another day. Also, If you want to buy anything in the Resort Food Courts and use your AP discount card. Don't do it. They cannot process your discount card. Case in point: I wanted to quickly buy some Character gummies at the food court in All Star Music. The CM said I can't give you the discount here. Go around the corner to the Merch shop and buy the same thing but you can use your discount card. Yeah, I know it was only a few cents of a discount. But I will take what I can get from Disney.

I have a few other stories like this, looking for a certain merch that you'd think all store would have. Gasp, but they don't. SO, sometimes it is better to get something when you find it. Don't even get me started on looking for a specific ink pen for an autograph book.

The Briar Patch because it is fun to try on all of the funny themed hats and take pictures since I am never going to buy any of them.
Splash Mountain is my number 1 favorite attraction in all of WDW, and I do like the Briar Patch. However, I wish they had a little more "Splash Mountain" specific merchandise in there. There are usually a few shirts in the Splash Down photos area, but not much else.

At Disney Springs I like:
World of Disney
Disney's Day of Christmas
Mickey's Pantry]

I was just comparing maps of Disney Springs/The Village Marketplace from today and 1990 (because that's something I do.) The Pantry is really the only shop that hasn't moved or changed in the last 25 years. It used to be called the Gourmet Pantry but it is basically the same. I've always liked this shop so it is nice that it's still there.

Mousegear always seems to have exactly what we are looking for even more it seems that we want than World of Disney. Boardwalk Thimble and Thread also very good for such a small shop. Used to love Sid C's at the studios, moment of silence...

Any of the Art of Disney shops - there usually some nice, non "cartoony" items in there.

Some of the shops in EPCOT - Morrocco & Paris spring to mind. Italy is nice, but they don't have much to offer. Germany used to be good, but it has been gutted as of late, and does not offer much ouside of Steiff and Playmobil toys. I understand the appeal of the shops in Japan, but there is a Mitsuwa (and it's a bigger one) nearby, so it is really nothing special for me.

I used to like the Christmas shops, but the discontiued the line that I like (the "woodsy" plaid decorations)

Sometimes the shop in Africa in AK has some interesting stuff at pretty decent prices.

The Island Supply Co. in Adventureland and both Typhoon and Blizzard shops, plus BouTiki at Poly carry name brand surf wear cheaper than the prices where I live (summer vacation spot, lots of surfing too). So, as far as that goes, it is an instance where Disney prices are cheaper than at home. If I hit those stores right, I can get some great bargains.

It is really kinda funny how Disney does their pricing

Yes, it is kinda funny how Disney does their pricing. Some things are very reasonable, while others are over priced.

I'm almost ashamed to say this, but I never buy anything. I take at least $1,000 as spending money and I always come back with around $800 ( with the exception of my last visit. We did BBB). In my head I tell myself I'm going to make a list of everything I saw that I wanted and just go back to get it before my trip is over, but it never happens. I'd rather buy lipstick and hair products.

P.S.... I can't wait until ZARA opens at Disney Springs. I'll definitely spend the money then...

I always make sure to stop in both the UK and Germany shops in Epcot. Love the merch in those stores. Also, now that magic bands have caught on, love going to pin traders in DS and seeing the new designs in person.

My absolute favorite now is the DS store in Co-op with the kitchen/home items. Bought towels the other day, I can almost never go in there without coming out with something new for my place!
